The cost of resigning or signing a starting QB
keepthefaith replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Who would you rather be right now, JP playing for Jim Fassel or Trent playing for DJ? -
Yep, when the defense knows you tend to keep it short, they simply bring more bodies closer to the line of scrimmage which does wonders for the run game. They dare you to beat them deep and when you don't, you lose.
-
Agree, and I'd challenge you on who has call for Dick to be canned the most. Keep in mind that Turk was DJ's hand picked coordinator after interviewing NOBODY else for the job. Dick sinks or swims on his decisions which collectively deliver 7-9. Bad coordinators = bad decision.

Try to imagine the look on Terrell Owen's face
keepthefaith replied to Billistic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's a reason he got a 1 year deal. Both he and the Bills' front office don't know who will be coaching the team next year. -
OK, I'll give you that. What else do you see from this coaching staff and team (recent past and present) that would give you a shred of confidence that the Bills can win a playoff game this year?
-
Although Dick strikes me as a really nice guy, the tide against him is rising just as it did here in Chicago. It's a mirror image really of then. He'll have to win a lot of games in the regular season to stem the tide because his public persona as a coach instills zero confidence in the fans. When you don't win and you're really dull you don't keep the job.
-
Yeah, and by then all of the best head coach possibilities will have been hired by other teams.
-
Of course he sounds like DJ. He's a young impressionable guy and DJ has been his only NFL head coach. DJ is putting his mark on all of the young players. No joke.

Is coaching the reason for a culture of losing?
keepthefaith replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OK, then I guess we just let Jauron continue until the front office delivers a better QB and better lineman. Wait a minute, doesn't Jauron have a say in personnel decisions? Could he be giving poor input into player selection? Nah, he's a great coach with a great coaching philosophy and he is giving good input into player selection. It's just that the QBs and lineman won't do what he wants them to. -

Agree. The "coaching is overrated" comment is mind boggling. Particulary in Jauron's case. We're told that Jauron has a lot of say in personnel decisions. That means he not only bears the responsibility of developing talent, he is also picking it to some extent. If you aren't happy with the Bills' talent, then the problem is either a lack of raw talent or the inability to develop promising talent. In either case, Jauron has responsibility. Jauron hired his assistant coaches including an offensive coodinator that was hired from with with no prior coordinator experience and without interviewing a single other candidate. He also hired a defensive coordinator with no prior experience in that position. Furthermore, Jauron makes the decision on the design of both the offense and the defense which is the Tampa 2 and whatever you call this offense. He also approves of and has input into weekly game plans, play calling and many in-game decisions. The Bills to a great extent are his product. Given the level of input in so many areas, he would be due significant credit for both success and failure of this team. -
Clearly, many agents feel it is more important to get the last nickel out of a deal than it is to get their client into training camp on time. Clearly the Bills are more interested in not over paying than they are in getting their top pick into camp on time. If either side backed away from these agendas, Maybin would be in uniform. It's a competition, not a cooperation.

I worry even more about what he does from Monday to Saturday. He makes a lot of decisions during that stretch and the product on the field marches to that drum.

McKelvin reaction after INT
keepthefaith replied to SouthernMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're not a stick in the mud. The league is filled with jackass's. Heck just tonight at my 11 year old son's first football practice of the season, a kid running the 40 in a group of 5 kids (he was ahead of the rest) turned around and ran the last 5 yards backwards taunting the rest of them. The coaches reaction, no reaction. -

Thread title of the year.

How will Billicheck stop the no huddle?
keepthefaith replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shoot, he'll make Jauron wish he never heard of the no huddle. He'll play a ball control offense against the Bills' D and a few 3-and-outs by the Bills' offense will be enough to make Dick crazy. -
Ryan F's very good outing tonight.....

For what NFL team? -
Why are people protesting Mike Vick?
keepthefaith replied to Major Mud's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What he did was sickening and even before the dog fighting indictment he was a jackass. I thought that the commissioner gave him a rather light sentence. I thought he would have been justified in a lifetime NFL ban. Vick has paid a price for what he did. Plenty of people will protest and that's fine. What's important now is how he responds to all that has happened. If our criminal system works, the ultimate test is whether or not a person behaves differently after incarceration. Time will tell. -

Yeah, on paper that should make a difference. Overall the Bills have to develop some scoring punch. Red zone offense has not been a strength under DJ. Gotta turn field goals into more touchdowns. Personnel alone may not be enough.

Me either. The tide against DJ has nothing to do with pre-season, nor should it. It's his entire head coaching performance that supports all the doubt. -
The Bills never tip their hand in the pre-season under Jauron. They save the good stuff (the type of offense that puts pressure on the other team, the type of offense that is difficult to game-plan against) for the regular season.

The Definition of Insanity……
keepthefaith replied to Pass the Pipe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never said he was banned. I simply said that we might all be banned. The negativity toward the Bills here is actually quite healthy. May it continue to blossom both here and publically to such an extent that The Bills front office makes some changes. Those clinging to false hopes and expectations for this coaching staff are only fooling themselves. I've loyally supported this team for nearly 40 years and the current stretch of incompetence is unacceptable to many. Of course if I'm wrong about this year, I'll be happy to take my lumps right here. No sweat.
