  1. Some of those, sure. So where the "Americans won't do those jobs" argument falls apart is that labor is a supply and demand item. If we had fewer immigrants to do those things, wages for those jobs would rise to a level where Americans would take the jobs. Sure we'd pay a bit more for lettuce and hotel rooms but we'd have more people employed paying into those SS and Medicare programs. What do you say to the American construction companies that have gone belly up due to illegal immigrant competition?
  2. Wow, that's real progress on your part moving the needle just out of the great range for Obama. Step in the right direction. One small step for man, one giant leap for Gatorkind.
  3. Haven't read the article yet, but the 30 and unders should be publically volcanic (politically speaking) about the bag of crap the baby boomers are leaving them. When you look at the average age of Presidents, Senators, House of Reps and most state-wide politicians, It's fair to say that it'll be 20 years or so before their generation is at the helm. Yes the boomers have failed them in many policy areas. 30 and unders need to wake up and start supporting more solution oriented candidates. That 60% plus voted for Obama in 2012 is substantial evidence that they don't care, are not paying attention, don't get it or all of the above.
  4. What that there are 7 million illegal immigrants working in this country? Does anyone doubt that? Google roy beck numbersUSA or do the same on youtube. There are hours of information on the subject.
  5. Yes but we need jobs to employ more people. My point was that immigration policy should be tied to economic conditions. Right now we have about 7 million illegal immigrants in jobs that should be done by Americans and we have lost jobs in comparison to population growth, so adding people through immigration (especially illegal immigration) hurts Americans. Brat campaigned on this. Cantor was weak on the issue.
  6. I hope you don't make your living in the actuarial or analytical professions.
  7. That is truly an embarrassing response. Population growth at a reasonable rate and assuming people are productive, yes. NumbersUSA has done a bunch of studies on this tracking immigration figures throughout US history and those studies show that there is a "right number". We're well above that in recent years. If I can find the info I'll post it later.
  8. What does that mean "immigration reform"? If you ask 10 people you'll get 10 different answers. If you actually study the impact that this huge influx of people is having over so many years and what it means for future population numbers and our ability to employ all these people, what should be done is clear. We need limits on immigrants. It's very tough to send people home that have been here for years but some should go. Politically one party see this as a vote registration program and the other party is afraid that i they don't support citizenship, they will suffer politically. Both are wrong. The Dems for not doing what's best for Americans and the Republican for believing they can get the hispanic vote if they support citizenship.
  9. You don't see a need to differentiate between the two?
  10. A yellow submarine would do the trick.
  11. This thing is getting serious both in the numbers of people and Obama's response (or lack thereof) which is more encouraging to illegal immigrants than it is to law enforcement.
  12. Heck you can go back to '86 or so when after amnesty we were going to secure the border. 2 heads, 4 humps, 3 legs oh and multi-gender.
  13. Could be so why not go to Congress and explain this in the required notice that should have been given? If these Afghan war criminals are such bad guys and we can't legally hold them after the war there is over, why not have them turned over to Afghan authorities with the promise for them to be tried and jailed in Afghanistan and not as a part of this deal? Seriously Does Obama plan to just let all these criminals go when they could be tried for their crimes somewhere? I may be making a terrible assumption here that the Afghan leadership wants to punish these people.
  14. Should the Federal government have any spending limits at all? If so, where should the line be drawn?
  15. Pretty much sums up the sentiment expressed overall on this site for any of the wealthy potential owners. Comes with the Buffalo territory I suppose.
  16. Obviously not which means confiscation and destruction of all guns owned by non-government citizens must happen at once. Turn in your car too because cars cause deaths even in an accidental situation making cars even more dangerous than guns.
  17. Any positive news is good. However, the article fails to mention that the workforce has grown by millions since the recession so we are still a long way from getting back to the same workforce participation that we once had and some numbers suggest that gap is widening.
  18. The league should consider offering a new franchise to Toronto if there is such a demand for NFL football there. Not likely to put much of a dent in the Bills fan base. Would create a great rivalry and the league and owners get a nice payday.
  19. When people like Sharpton and Jackson continually make statements about how blacks are disadvantaged, race based responses are to be expected.
  20. Well but we don't know what she is keeping. Could be a lot of good stuff.
  21. What is a crumbling school? The problem in many Chicago schools is mostly with students and parents. Kids there are taught Math, English, Science, etc using the same textbooks and with similar methods as is done in schools in other parts of the city and the near suburbs, yet the graduation rate and performance of the students are quite different. Flies on the walls in homes and classrooms of poor performing students compared to good performing students report that from the time kids get up and until they go to bed at night they see huge differences in their effort to do well in school. The commitment level of students and their parents to their education is simply very different in different homes. That's where most of the solution has to come from. Without that, failure will simply endure. You don't have to go into the inner city to find that difference, it's simply more concentrated there. Abilities of kids vary quite a bit but it's effort that levels the playing field.
  22. I think you're putting far too much faith in the electorate.
  23. The Dems will able to promote all the things they got done without Congress to show America how obstruction by the right has hurt the country.
  24. Once Again Obama misses the point. Sure we're happy an American is now free. It's the process, the quality of the deal and the risk that is being questioned.
