  1. Here's the real problem with the Snooze, IMO. If the fish stinks, it usually starts with the head,,, Sports desk: Lisa Wilson (sports editor) 716-849-4465 Newsroom: Mike Connolly (Editor) editor@buffnews,com
  2. Not a thing...and you're absolutely right about FF. If I see another 50 or 60 Fan Duel or Draft Kings commercials this weekend I think my head will explode...
  3. Not looking at all. It's just good to know what we're up against...
  4. Ronald Torbert is the ref assigned to the game. Not real familiar with him (it's his second year as a ref, used to be a member of Ed Hochuli's crew ) http://www.footballzebras.com/2015/06/04/12764/ R Ronald Torbert__6 years__attorney U Carl Paganelli__16 years__retired federal probation officer HL Jim Howey__17 years__director of adult education LJ Mark Steinkerchner__22 years__vice-president FJ Aaron Santi__1 year__middle school principal SJ Scott Edwards__17 years__environmental engineer BJ Greg Yette__6 years__defense contractor Replay official: Bill Spyksma Replay assistant: Terry Sullivan This nugget from last year is worrisome: http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/nfl-week-15-cleveland-browns-detroit-lions-green-bay-packers-121414 Referee: Ron Torbert. Ron came into the league in 2010 and this is his first season as a referee. He came out of the Big Ten. He is an attorney and graduated from Michigan State. He is a good man with a bright future. I really liked the way he handled himself as a referee in the Big Ten. He has a ways to go at this level, but he will make it. Torbert's crew: This crew likes to throw the flag. Through Week 14, they lead the league in offensive pass interference and unnecessary roughness calls. They are making up for lost ground in offensive holding calls, calling 10 in the last two weeks. They had Carolina/Pittsburgh in Week 3 and they called 25 fouls. Now they have Tampa Bay, the team that has been called for the most penalties. There's a good chance you might be seeing a lot of yellow today. As does this story in the Snooze from last year's Denver game: http://bills.buffalonews.com/2014/12/07/first-quarter-analysis-penalty-nickell-robey-proves-costly/ Nickell Robey was left shaking his head, and it's hard to blame him. "The Buffalo Bills' cornerback was called for illegal contact on a third-and-6 play from the Buffalo 19-yard line Sunday against the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field. The penalty, which came with Robey in coverage against Broncos receiver Wes Welker, gave Denver a first down at the Bills' 14. The flag was an absolute blown call by first-year referee Ron Torbert's crew. Robey made barely any contact with Welker, and in no way impacted the receiver's route. Two plays after the penalty, Broncos running back C.J. Anderson scored on a 6-yard run and Denver took a 7-0 lead." The infamous "Fist Bump" from that game: http://nesn.com/2014/12/referees-inexplicably-fist-bump-after-broncos-score-touchdown-gif/
  5. Excellent. His veteran leadership should help out a lot...
  6. "...As such, many of the players who have donated their brains for testing suspected that they had the disease while still alive, leaving researchers with a skewed population to work with." While it's good that research is being done on the problem, the nature of the sample population is a concern. The researchers need to do some testing on the general population or even football players who did not exhibit the issues their test group did. Inflammatory headlines sell papers but don't provide much directional insight...
  7. Thanks for trolling through....
  8. I thought the reason Fluellen was cut and resigned was to get around that vested vet thing. Incorrect? Also, with Shady working his way back into the offense, I'd think it would have been a good idea to keep BB who could run the same schemes as opposed to the big north-south RBs on the roster... Not in the locker room or on the field...
  9. Yeah, it's a bit surprising in light of how "shady" Shady was in the opener. Not sure why the 5th DT is more valuable than the 4th RB, especially since Boobie and Karlos are different types of runners than McCoy ...

  15. Are you looking at pictures or have you been to the stadium since the renovation?
  16. Nor would anyone else with half a brain cell. %#*@^! dumb premise to think someone who moved away 12 years ago factors into how the 1.1 million residents who live here now view themselves...
  17. The Ralph just keeps looking better and better. I was a big advocate for a new downtown venue but after seeing the improvements at the Carolina preseason game I've shifted 180-degrees on that POV....
  18. I voted and gave him a B overall and B for the off-season. I'm holding off on a higher grade until they get through the month of September--which is the acid test for determining how good or bad this team will be...
