UPDATED: Tim Tebow, QB, Denver Broncos
todd replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure how funny it is that someone told him to shut up, but man do I find his obnoxious in-your-face style of faith to be annoying. I don't attempt to force my views on others, and I don't think he should, either. To me all it does is show a myopic view of faith, and the promotes standard evangelical line that everyone else should be the same as them and can't imagine that anyone else would be different. -
Importance and evolution of the Left Tackle

Interesting, now I've really got to read that book. Statistics without context are useless, however if someone points me to a book about football, I'm all over it. -
Importance and evolution of the Left Tackle

If you have the book, check out the 5th chapter and the 9th chapter. The 2nd chapter is packed as well. Those are all about line play, not to mention the stuff sprinkled through the rest of the book. Not sure how long ago you read the book. -

All I'm saying is you need both. The real idiots are those who think we can continue to ignore the line. -

I will read it. I don't own a jump to conclusions mat. -

I don't think I typed anywhere that we need to draft someone in the first round for LT. All I said was that without a LT, it doesn't matter what FA QB we pick up or who we draft. Find me a rookie QB or one of the current vet FAs that could do well without a capable LT. Read my post again. C-A-P-A-B-L-E is the word I used to describe the LT the Bills need. It is often interchanged with words like competent and serviceable. I don't know how you got Pro-bowl out of that. So an LT is very important, and your post is bunk. -
I didn't see The Blind Side movie, but I just finished the book. Since I didn't see the movie, I will say the book had a boatload of research and information on the evolution and importance of the LT position, how defensive and offensive philosophies have influenced the position. Definitely more football research and history than I expected. The book isn't really about Michael Oher as much as it is about the Left Tackle position. I was expecting a puff piece about human drama -- you know, the Oprah Book Club kind of dreck -- but it was really a FOOTBALL book with a little human interest thrown in. The result is it really confirmed for me that the only real choice Buffalo has is to somehow get a left tackle. We have no business trading for or drafting a QB unless there's a capable LT to go along with him. The book also changed my mind about Jason Peters, and how we maybe should have paid the guy. It also reinforced my belief that Dick Jauron along with the front office was vastly unprepared in their plan to replace him. And it makes me think that Turk S. was fired because he saw the coming colossal failure quite clearly and pushed the issue. I encourage every football fan, especially those that think that finding a QB will fix all of our ills, to read the book.

Did the D&C stop covering the Bills?
todd replied to Tortured Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My opinion is congruent with yours. I must admit that I will occasionally tune in to his show on the way home from work. My commute is 15 minutes max. That's enough, especially when I get to hear him spend 15 minutes on the exceedingly popular sport of regional horse racing. -

But why not bring up Matthews? :-) Every paper needs a writer who only covers horse racing! -
And he got STUPID money for it. 7 mil this year? Totally not worth it, so I'm glad the Bills didn't sign him. Delhomme would have been a good stopgap, but not for that money.

Unless he's a rookie. Even Manning sucked as a rookie. I would say you need a great o-line if you are going to start a rookie, or you could ruin him. Since I don't see any great QBs available via FA, and drafting a QB is a crapshoot (anyone who thinks otherwise might want to think again), our safest bet is to somehow make the o-line at least adequate. It really should be the priority, but I don't see it yet.

Nix is passing on quality free agents

But we know his name! -
Were you snared?

Why in the world would someone write a column about winners and losers in FA when FA is only a week old? Why? Because it is to ensnare idiots into thinking it means something. I bet his editor told him to write it. No self-respecting journalist, especially Vic, would write an article about FA winners and losers this early on purpose.

It is one thing to be passionate, another to cheer the misfortune and pain of someone on your own team. Classless. The Browns don't deserve a winner after that one.

The only part I disagree with is the part about losing a lot of good coaches. Wha? -
I figured he'd go to NE. He's a great blocker in the running game.

I was suprised Incogneto not tendered
todd replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not surprised by this at all. The dude has rage and penalty problems to such a degree he was cut at MID SEASON. 15 yard personal foul penalties can lose you a game. People B word quite a bit about a team lacking discipline, and this guy is the epitome of someone who lacks discipline. I don't blame anyone for wanting to keep an average OL when all of ours seem to be injured or mediocre, but the fact is he won't start so he's not worth a tender. -
Rich Gannon on Sirius Today Talking About Maybin
todd replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cutting a 2nd year 1st round pick really would earn the Bills nothing. At the very least give the guy the opportunity to make the team. Firing him now doesn't make much sense other than to vent some anger. -
Rich Gannon on Sirius Today Talking About Maybin
todd replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Word is that Maybin was DJ's pick, as was the decision to fire Schonert days before the season and ignoring the need to replace Peters with an adequate LT. Those three decisions are truly a trifecta of ineptitude. -
And yes, I am being a whiny B word for whining about whiny bitches. :-)
-
I certainly can laugh at my own stupidity. I've had to deal with lots of my own stupidity, and therefore lots of practice laughing at it.
-
Let the stupid "I know his name!" series of offseason posts begin. Ugh. Stupid. That is, stupid until I do it myself.
-
Instead of all the whiny bitches complaining about it, why not just refuse to give him your money? The whiny bitches are starting to bother me.

Is there a plan besides reducing payroll?
todd replied to Chuckknox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree! Why the hell haven't the Bills figured out how to draft players before the draft starts, and sign FAs before FA starts? They suck! Great post, BTW.
