I'm amazed that people underestimate what a task the Bills have ahead of them to rebuild this team. How many other teams head into the draft with starters needed at 6 positions, and only 7 rounds to do it in? Did people really think Buffalo was going to be good this year, especially in the first game of the season with new systems on both sides of the ball? Christ, I'm amazed they kept it that close.

News Flash: The O-Line Played Well Today (sans Green)
todd replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trent was not good, and part of that was the oline, and part of it was trent being not a good QB. He looked like the same old trent to me. I was rooting for him to have an epiphany, but after 1 game it doesn't look like he did. Thankfully it was only one game. I think the oline is very important, but the Bills had too many holes to fill in one draft. One of those holes was oline, another was dline, another was TE, another was LB, another was QB, another was WR. If you can figure out a way to get six starters out of a 7 round draft (realistically, not with any silly trade up & down idiocy), I'd love to hear it! That said, I'm not sure I would have taken RB in the first round, but you get my picture. I think this year we were screwed. Too many holes to fill, not enough ways to do it. I'm sorry, ICE, but you have been posting retarded **** here for years. Trent does suck, but so did the oline. It is difficult to grasp that there can be more than one cause and more than one effect, but please try for the sake of people who come across your posts. I can help you if you want. -
News Flash: The O-Line Played Well Today (sans Green)

Is this post a joke? Did you watch the same game I did? Did you see Bell whiffing on blocks? Did you even watch the game? Trent Edwards had a crappy game, and looked the same as last year. He needs to get the ball out faster, and not be a kitty with the downfield throws. But the failure to see how crappy the o-line played and their inability to hold a block or open holes ... I'm just speechless. How can someone who watches football not see that. The O-line wasn't very good, ESPECIALLY both tackles. Bell was marginally better than Green, but Green displayed one of the worst performances by an o-lineman that I've ever seen. Ever. The guy blows. Dude ... just stop now. You're digging yourself a hole that you can't get out of. You should really not continue insisting that the O-line played well because the FACT is that they didn't. And that isn't a total excuse for Trent because he didn't play well either, but that performance was one of the worst I've ever seen by an O-line. Just horrendous. Trent didn't even have time to take a 3 step drop, and Chan realized how crappy the line was and put him in the shotgun and that didn't help either. Rewatch the game, and this time not on crack. -
Hey doof, 1st game of a new offense and defense and new coach. What did you expect, fireworks? We all know what this team is made of, so I don't understand how people are surprised with what happened today. The team will look good at times this season, and it will also look really bad. Those who expect otherwise are nuts.

What's your preferred way to COOK a fish?

I like a ginger/bourbon marinate with scallions & garlic, then on the grill. Ginger has anti-nausea properties, and that is required when dealing with the dolphins. They make most of us want to vomit. Bourbon ... well the purpose of that goes without saying. -
My church is chasing a little white ball around a nicely manicured patch of grass. So yes, I'll be going to church Sunday morning.

Maybe!

Um, no. King is NOT a Bills fan. He's a Pats fan, though.

Meh, he is what he is. He was an ill-advised pick by an administration who is no longer here. I have it on good advisement that it was DJ who really wanted him, and DJ is now gone. The good news is the current admin owes him nothing. The guy either produces or he's gone.

To all those who want to lose lots of games, I would like to offer a different perspective. Yes, you get a high draft pick, but you also become less attractive to free agents. Free agents want to go somewhere where they are trending up, not hitting bottom. Not only that, since draft picks are a crap-shoot, a high draft pick that doesn't work out can hamstring a franchise for a long time. Take Mike Williams for example. He should have been a cornerstone, but he's just a wasted pick for us. I'll take 7 wins, thanks.

Farewell to all, you guys are great fans.... I mean that!

Sorry to see you go, but I can understand why you would. There's lots of people who probably don't have the perspective you do, and lots of people who may come across as callous when talking about players, myself included. If I was a player or player's relative, I'd never use my own name. Go Bills! -
I really can't argue with any of these negative reviews of the Bills. The fact is that although the Bills have pockets of talent, going back years the Bills have drafted poorly. You can't waste 1st round picks like the Bills have and expect to do well. If you blow a first round pick, the impact is felt for years. McCargo, Losman, Mike Williams, Bledsoe (1st round pick) were all wastes. Even if one of those players turned into a pro-bowl player the Bills would have a better foundation to build on. Instead, it will take years to overcome those issues. So this is clearly a rebuilding year. I would be happy with 6 wins, given we see some growth of our players and start to see some star power out of a few more players.

Be honest, how many plan on Booing Edwards?
todd replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As far as I'm concerned, the refs owe us 10 years of good calls. They deserve to be heckled. "Just give it to them!", ejecting Tasker in '97, non-calls on Wilfork and other crap drives me crazy. Screw them and boo them. -

todd replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why the hell do you would you ever boo someone who you want to succeed? Seriously, who here would be upset if Edwards turns it around and turns into a good QB? I wouldn't, and that's what I'm rooting for. Booing players on your own team is really stupid. REALLY stupid. I only boo players on opposite teams, because soon as a player puts on a Bills uniform I want them to succeed. -
Some very pointed opinions on the Bills:

Brilliant. I have been known to bomb a 310 yard drive straight down the middle. If I used your reasoning, I could play on the PGA tour. -
This is really a rebuilding year. It is a year we expect to see glimpses of the future. Those expecting a marked improvement because we changed schemes will be disappointed. 4 wins is reasonable. 6 would be great.

I'll be Maybin's biggest fan if he plays like a 1st round pick.
