I have been arguing this point for the past few days with my 24 year old son and another friend of mine. They both see this as nothing more then the player having the right to defend himself. As you can well imagine I see it much differently. I for one hold people responsible for thier actions, and therefore I see it this way. There is no excuse for a player going into the crowd EVER, and assulting a fan. Yes I agree the fan was wrong, and he was going to be dealt with I am sure. ron artest is not a law enforcment officer, and I do not believe that he has any qualifications other then being a thug, to bring the offender to justice. So, I see it as very clear, any of the players who went into the stands and assulted any fan, they should be banned for life from the NBA. This should also significantly help to lower that gros statistic that shows that nearly 40% of NBA players have either been convicted of a felony, or charged with one. Now on the other hand, if any fan came onto the court and came after a player....they are fair game in my opinion. No different then when some assclown runs on the field at a football game...I want to see the fool crushed by the largest hardest hitting men on the field. This is basically the difference...the playing field belongs to the players, and they have the right to defend themselves......the rest of the staium or arena belongs to the fans...they should not have to prtect themselves from gangsta thugs. I did not expect the league to suspend artest for the balance of the season and this was a nice start...but unfortunately it did not go far enough. They could have stopped this kind of gangsta behavior from EVER happing again...if they would have just banned him for life, now they have to live with the consequences. In the end who will lose the most...of course us the fans. Why, well simple..this is just starting. The end result will be drastically incresed ticket prices due to drastically incresed security. When all of the law suits are finished and there will be many we can expect increased prices because the cost of holding such a high risk event will increase drastically. Consider this: There will definately be lawsuits against the NBA, the city of detroit, the arena, the teams, the players, and the law enforcement officers because after all is said and done these fans just came to watch a game...they did not expect to be assualted. yes, even those who threw the plastic cup, and beer.

Rich in Ohio replied to millbank's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
yea, but of course he appoligized so everything is all Ok now in liberal land. If a white repulican would have said the same thing about a black person, the blood letting would nt stop until dan blather and friends squeezed the last little drop out of his dead hide. -
Clintons ties to big oil
Rich in Ohio replied to Rich in Ohio's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Well I never said that the interesting part of the stroy was clinton. My point was he got these millions of dollars from the very people that the liberal media poit to as evil GWB supporters. Thats all, and to that end....it is an interesting story. -
Article Looks like slick willie got literally millions of dollars for his presidenial library. Wonder if tis will ever see the light of day on network news. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but if this was a republican president it would be touted as dirty money from big oil, and the saudi royal family...those dirty bastards. Just another case of selective hate speech that I wanted to point out.

I think that you are correct in your overal percentages, but basically you are missing the point. What I see when I look at the country map which is broken down by counties, is that the overwhelming percentage of counties around the nation are in fact red. This cannot be overlooked. That is not to say that these counties are all Pro conservative...but it does in fact mean that the majority of people in those counties are conservative. From this perspective, you can draw no other conclusion then conservative values are the prevailing views of most of America.

Ron Artest and Iraq
Rich in Ohio replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Are you insane????? Basketball and war have nothing in common. Do you have any real sense of what is going on in the world around you? I say that based on your comments above the answer is clearly NO. -

Arlen Specter officially castrated
Rich in Ohio replied to Mickey's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
AD this was a no brainer for spector. Either he plays by the party rules or he becomes even less significant then he already is. He figures at least this way his name will get mentioned a few times. That is what this is all about, and why he agreed so quickly....this often happens when there really is only one choice. -

Hey don't complain. This is exactly why they did so good this past Nov 2nd. I for one hope to see much more of the same. It will only insure that the good people of our country will continue to see them for what they are. GOD Bless America

What would you rather have more
Rich in Ohio replied to realtruelove's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Actually I heard somewhere about this super deep hole somewhere in Russia that literally goes miles deep. I say throw his wortheless ass down that hole and record the thud for all the world to hear. In my opinion the thud would ring out like a bell in the crisp morning air.......and all the world will rejoice.... Ding Dong......another terrorist is dead. -
Damn, you beat me to it. I could not agree more with your sentiments...thank you for putting it so correctly.

CNN article I was reading thru this article and I found one little detail mysteriously missing. That is the fact that it is muslem fundamentalists who are doing the killing here and who the frenchy french are fighting. I just wonder why it is so taboo to mention the fact that there are many other places in the world where these animals are killing in the name of religion.

OMG, if only we could be so lucky. While I see worm stevestojan as being a significant upgrade to terry mcauliff, this would simply mean the rest of my life should be safely governed by conservatives. Like I said, could we be so lucky.

I actually thought tht it was pretty funny.

The media Orgy over arafat
Rich in Ohio replied to Rich in Ohio's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Hmm, I don't remember seing rush or hannity post on this thread. I guess I will have to check again. My point is and was that this is a media orgy. Look the guy is terrorist and a thug. He has stolen millions of US dollars that was made avaiable to help his people. Instead his french whore wife was busy spending the bulk of it in paris and in other frency french cities. He deserves no such orgasims in my opinion, and I wuld just as soon hear that he is dead, and the rot has begun. The sooner the better...........throw his dead ass in a box, and and dump him in a hole. -
Typical lib, just sitting around waiting for something to go wrong. HA, and they wonder why 90% of the election (county map) was red.
-
I have been amazed at the media orgy over the “death in process” of the terrorist Arafat. I could not imagine any such hype if this was Sharon instead of the scumbag Arafat. The last time I saw this much coverage over someone’s death (or almost death) was Princess Diana. Ironically both events happened in France…hmmm, maybe just a coincidence. Anyway, it just goes to show the love affair that the liberal media has with this murderous, animal. I wonder if his funeral precession will pass thru the Arc de Triumph.

Just wondering. Is he the one heading up this canadian exile campiagn? It would seem logical, and I for one would support it. But really just miss kicking his butt on a regualr basis. So again I ask Where Oh Where is Tennyboy ????????

algore to run some environmental fund
Rich in Ohio replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Who in their right mind would get involved in anything that a wacko like algore is heading up. Seriously.....he has gone insane since losing the 200 election, and I would not intrust something as simple as a bag of peanuts to him. -
the REAL reaon Bush won and Kerry lost....
Rich in Ohio replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yea, but the libs still think that it was just the Jesus freaks who got it done. -
