Who's our franchise quarterback again?
-
First of all this shouldn't have been posted as a new thread. You should've kept it under you're crazy little "Fixing the Bills problem is SIMPLE" thread. No need to draw more attention to your crazy ideas. Exactly what we don't have. What's your point? I thought fixing the Bills was problem was SIMPLE. As if we haven't seen the Patriots credentials a million times. I'm trying to figure out where you are going with this seeing as how we don't have Bill Bellicheck as a coach of ours or that Scott P. fellow who does a great job with finding talent for the Patsies. What is so simple?! Is your suggestion trading our entire time for BB? You indicated the formula was GREAT drafting (as if that's even possible from year to year), solid off-season acquisitions (injuries often distort what was and wasn't a great pick-up) and GREAT coaching (as if we're even close to having that). You say it's that simple. Even though your definition of simple in your last thread was picking up a ton of second-tier free agents. So which is it? This last paragraph is an example of how confused you appear to be.

Jake Delhomme and the Panthers

I agree. Carolina is an odd team to choose to beat New England. Carolina won't even make it that far. -
Solving the BILLS problems is SIMPLE
BillsObserver replied to VIPP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, real "simple" fix. Too many "if's" and assumptions. First of all fixing the Oline with a 2nd tier free agent is exactly what we've been doing. See Chris V. and Bennie A. You mention keeping Mike Williams for cap reasons. That'd be the reason we might have to cut him, because his hit is too big. If you plan on re-signing him, you better hope he restructures BIG time otherwise you're forced to cut him. You'd free up enough space to notice a difference. Regarding the QB's: "I think marv will agree, that JP gets the ball" - I disagree. Levy's known to go with the veteran until the young guy proves himself. MM will most certainly want to go with Holcomb, because the veterans tell him what to do. I doubt JP starts even if he faired well in the supposed QB competition we'll see in the summer. We'll have a much better shot at Ngata at the draft. And I'd much rather see us pick up the best available DT because we desperately need one especially if Adams' plans on packing his bags. I'm skeptical about drafting a top 10 offensive lineman, and not even because of Mike Williams. -
GW 3yr 8million deal to stay with Wash
BillsObserver replied to Thailog80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's the obvious conclusion. It was an easy decision for GW. Hell, he's getting paid more than a lot of head coaches with far less pressure and stress. His kids probably attend the DC area schools so why would he want to move onto a head coaching position with a crap team when he can do what he does best under a legend of a coach. Eventually he'll succeed him or just take on a head coaching spot when he wants it. That money makes it worth it on his part to remain as a defensive coordinator. Good move by Snyder for assuring the 'Skins will have a solid, if not excellent defense for the next 3 years. -
Aaron Schobel finished 5th in NFL in sacks
BillsObserver replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's fair. The people that ripped TD for extending Schobel are obviously wrong. With help, A.S. would be even MORE of a beast. And he'll get that help (hopefully) this offseason. -

Sounds like you'd keep TD, MM, and JG. -
Cottrell with a good shot at Vikes job
BillsObserver replied to Last Guy on the Bench's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think anybody has "screwed up" by not choosing him as their head coach. The guy simply isn't head coach material. He's struggling enough with his own specialty, defense. The guy was canned by Herm and the Jets and the Vikings defense wasn't a threat until the end of the season. -
and he joined a year later than you! regardless, we have many issues. maybe a good, strong leader could correct some of our deficiencies on both sides of the ball. i'd have to agree that choosing an offensive lineman in the top 10 could be risky. i still look at robert gallory of the raiders and wonder if he's made a difference. i dont watch enough raiders games to know. i noticed he sat out yesterdays game for whatever reason and they kept showing him on the sideline with that stupid long hair and beard. im in favor of bulking up that defensive line with our first pick. since sam adams looks like a lock to be gone, we desperately need a big man who can make a difference.

SOMEONE explain this to me...regarding JP
BillsObserver replied to VIPP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Precisely. Good stuff. It's a shame a lot of people are writing off Losman already. -
This team is so !@#$ed.
BillsObserver replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Crowell NEEDS to be a starter and you know who he has to replace: Jeff Posey. In fact his contract extension should cement his role as a starter. Obviously he won't take over for Takeo (assuming Spikes will return to form), but he'll have to slide over to Posey's position. We need to get rid of that Eddie Robinson-like creature. Then and only then we'll have a solid, solid linebackers corp. Other than that, good observations. I'm with the people who think Chris Kelsay should go. I think he has done nothing significant since the Texans game. -
68.4% completion rate for the season
BillsObserver replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was never a comparison between the two. I pointed out that RJ racked up a sweet completion percentage himself. Just wanted to point out to the new whipping boy of TBD that a good completion percentage doesn't mean you're a good winning quarterback. The only percentage I care about of Holcomb's, is how many games he wins for us. If he even gets that chance. That's a whole different topic. You're strange. -

68.4% completion rate for the season
BillsObserver replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
those are fantastic numbers for sure but the reason the completion rate is so high is because of the endless amount of check down passes. i'm not blasting him for that, but on 3 and 8's, he settles for the 3 yard dish over taking a shot at the first. if holcomb plays anything like he did in cincinatti then he deserves to be our starting quarterback. reminds me of brad johnson a lot (for those watching the vikings' game now.) the question is can he be that consistent? he's never been given that chance for an entire season. i loved how lee evans, e moulds and josh reed got a nice amount of attention respectively. actually moulds looks like a pro bowler when holcomb is in there. it will be interesting to see who gets the start this last game. -
Remember - they played a pretty poor team in Green Bay today. But I get what you're saying. Grossman has certainly sparked their offense enough to make them a contender. He definitely gives them more of a chance because of his quick decisions and accurate deep throws. I still say the NFC is up for grabs. If Washington wins next week and gets in they could even make some noise in the playoffs. Remember who beat the Chicago Bears in week 1? Yep, the Skins' pulled it off in a close one. I think a lot of the teams in the NFC who will make the playoffs are defensive minded ones who have question marks on offense, except Seattle. But they have benefitted from an easier schedule. Giants, Redskins, Chicago, Tampa Bay, Carolina, and I guess Seattle may fall into the category of having a solid defense. Most of those teams are definitely known as superb defensive teams. That's why it makes it so hard to pick one out of the group with certainty. One thing to look out for is Seattle is 8-0 at home this year and that home field advantage may play a big part in them advancing in the playoffs.

Huh?!?! Let's say JP starts the game and we're not even in that position to win the game. Let's say McGee drops the ball and they get more opportunities to score. Let's say the weather was dramatically different and that pass was never thrown. Let's not say anything and just go with what happened in the game. He took the gamble and it paid off. Simple as that. Jerry Gray needs to go. I hate his defense. The corners are instructed to play off almost every play to ensure we don't give up "the big play." Most good defenses don't play their corners 10 yards off the opposing receivers. This defense is probably nothing more than a cheap version of Greg Williams'.

Bengals dont want to face Steelers
BillsObserver replied to Johnny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let's laugh together! Most ridiculous thread ever. Great post though by MBD. If Marvin Lewis were that dumb, he'd lose his job because I don't think anybody wants to face New England in the first round. Better luck next guess, Johnny. -
way to go. i think moorman had a better year last year. whatever, he's a punter.

Bills' Holcomb Expected to Start Again
BillsObserver replied to Tux of Borg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah .. at this point i don't think anybody even cares. we've beaten cincy the last 3 years in a row (or something like that) but this time it's a different story with Palmer in (last year Kitna started I believe.) there's not even a glimmer of hope. if JP plays, we'll still get crushed and he'll look bad again to the media. at least if holcomb plays and we get crushed, maybe people will catch on that it's not all JP's fault and this team is a joke. -

Vcoach alert - JP not playing anymore
BillsObserver replied to VABills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you're right, it's ALL his fault and NOBODY else's. not one single person on the coaching staff or on the offensive line or the defense. nope, ALL jp's fault.
