That's what I'm saying. I'm afraid they're just going to repeat the Fitz story (and the JP story and the Trent Edwards story) by drafting someone who's not good enough but sticking with him for at least 3 years and then starting over again.

I'm curious about Kolb. He's not a Pro Bowler by any means, but he had as good a college career as any of this year's draftables and he was exposed in AZ by a woeful o-line. Between our running game and our line he may have more success with the Bills. Above all, I'm not impressed with any of this year's draftable QB's and somebody has to play the position. Maybe Kolb signs for a reasonabe price for not too many years. Neither he nor Tarvaris Jackson will ever be our Super Bowl QB, but . . . well, like I said, somebody has to play QB and drafting Nassib or Glennon in the 2d round and anointing him as our franchise QB for the next 10 years isn't going to make it so.

Everyone knows Manziel and I've seen some of Bridgewater. I know next to nothing about Aaron Murray. Anybody here have anything to say about him?

A lot of people say that next year's draft (2014) will have better QB's in it. Who are the one-year-away quarterbacks that we should be looking forward to? Really -- I can't think off the top of my head who is so good but not draftable this year. Does anyone on this board know who "they" are talking about? (And don't forget that once upon a time people were looking forward to when Matt Barkley and Landry Jones would hit the draft . . .)

20 years? You mere babe . . . The most pessimistic I've ever been was the year Jauron announced we would go no-huddle on offense and then fired his OC (Turk Schonert) after the last pre-season game. Then there was the year Harvey Johnson took over for John Rauch in training camp.

Serious question: why is McGee still on the roster, given his recent history? I would've been less surprised if they'd cut him instead of Wilson, and I really wasn't surprised about Wilson at all.

All I know is, as long as this guy's had the job the Bills have stunk. And the job comes with certain connections, if you know what I mean . . . (It's a really slow miserable Monday here in Jersey.)

I say this every year because it's true every year. There is always -- ALWAYS -- at least one QB who was OK in December, or maybe even a prospect in December, but then shoots up the draft charts because the experts get impressed. Last year it was Ryan Tannehill. The year before that, Blaine Gabbert and Jake Locker. I'm always amazed at the guys who get better every day without playing a game than they were playing every week. Maybe some guys actually are worth it (Tannehill showed better than anyone expected, but let's not get carried away for one season); others make you wonder what everyone was so excited about. That's where I am on Glennon: he could be this year's Combine champion who never does anything else.

That's exactly right. It meant he started pro football in October every year.

Yeah, I agree. I only meant in my OP that he's still a mystery in Buffalo. But if he's a mystery next year it will be somewhere else.

OP was pretty much spot on but add this: Fitz is only gone if there's an adequate replacement, and I see him reworking his contract to stick around since there's no other demand for him. Thigpen will be cut in February. T-Jack is still a mystery -- for all we know he's exactly what Marrone wants.

Something else different this time: I've been a Bills fan since the 60's and I can't remember the organization (read: Ralph) EVER being so public about the process and the candidates. I'm neither praising nor criticizing, just noticing. In the past whatever news we got was based on rumors and leaks. Even 3 years ago, the whole Shanahan thing -- go find something "official" that said either they wanted to talk to him or he wasn't interested. Everything was "sources say ..." Even announcing Chan was a surprise. This time around it's like courting Free Agents, the way PR's and announcements are coming out. Maybe this is just Brandon's marketing chops showing through, but I think we know more about what's going on in the search for a Bills HC this time than ever before and that makes it easy to jump to conclusions.
