  1. they broke the dolphins streak in those and had a few nice playoff runs under fergie, crib's, butler, and the bedmuda triangle on defense ... remembers "Ground Chuck" Knox?
  2. Fairley is a beast and will never get past both Carolina and Denver ... Luck was our best hope to get to him and I see Rivera (Carolina) grabbing him @ #1 with Denver getting Peterson. Our pick ... man, your guess is as good as mine. I hope we trade down a bit and get a solid LB (like Von Miller) or a DE (like Ryan Kerrigan) and get extra picks. Mallett ... no thanks! I have seen this film and it ends with a statue getting sacked (Drew Bledsoe).
  3. I hope Levitre fuels him to stand up and reach his full potential
  4. Great post ... I noticed the same thing ... Urbik is bigger and with guys like Woolfork and Jenkins in the division ... bigger is better. I would move the natural center (and leader) Wood to center and put Urbik at guard. Bell is a capable athlete and would grow into a solid RT ... then draft your LT and the line is much better. As far as Urbik, the Steelers didn't want to lose him ... he is a big Wisconsin boy ... and I think he needs to be in thee lineup. Just my two cents.
  5. What is ironic is that Schopp berates listeners for making uniformed calls and he oftens fails to live up to his own standards ... what bothers me is his treatment of callers and his disdain for people who call in and ask, "how are you today" in a polite manner. He seems like he doesn't like his job or the people who tune in ... hey Schopp, without the listeners there is no "Schopp and the Bulldog"! Stop acting like an ass or quit.
  6. Don't let these "butt munchers" give you a hard time ... it was a good post. I think Leafs will get it together ... Burke has a nice track record and they have a respectable team now. As for the Bills and Toronto ... rather see you guys visit us down here then travel up there ... the atmosphere is so different. But if they have to play somewhere else, better in TO than further downstate in NY ... always felt closer to neighbors to the north than our city dwellers in NYC.
  7. Wow it is already Week #3 where has the time gone? After hearing rumors about the availabity of Kevin Kolb and fans saying we should have traded for Ron Mexico (aka Mike Vick), I thought I would weigh in on the situation (and not the one from Jersey Shore) ... we NEED to draft our own with what will likely be a top 3 - 5 pick next April. The recent stories on Andrew Luck and comparisons to times when John Elway was gracing the Stanford campus, has me convinced he should be our choice if, 1) we are lucky to have a chance at him, and 2) he decides to turn pro (which is very much in doubt considering he is a redshirt sophomore). Perhaps, we will have to turn our sights on Ryan Mallett or someone else who emerges this fall. Either way, we must proceed with patience and a better plan to develop him. This changes coaches, coordinators, personnel, etc. has to stop or we might as well bring back Bruce Mathison ... I am not saying that JP or Trent would have become a franchise QB with more patience and better stability, but it sure would not have hurt our chances. You have to remember, Kelly didn't arrive him from college. He served an apprenticeship in the USFL (a pretty decent league) for three years. Even then, he needed patience and grooming to get to be the FRANCHISE. The eventual QB that is chosen needs time and may need to sit for awhile and learn. Look at the way that Aaron Rodgers has turned out. He had time to practice, learn, study, put weight on his frame ... and now the Packers are reaping the benefits. I know that new QBs (and the almight $$$) demand that they play. But perhaps, patience is a better route to take to get that elusive Franchise QB.
  8. Anyone know where Bruce Mathison is? Matt Kofler?
  9. You know what you have with Fitzpatrick, and sadly, you know what you have with Trent as well. This whole year is about fidning out who can play and who is a part of the future and who really can't play and who is deadwood to be cast off. Brian Brohm is the great unknown and fans just hope that we someone catch lightning in a bottle and he turns out to be a legitimate QB going forward. Even if Trent does a passable job this year, is there any reason to believe he is the answer to our QB woes? I don't think so. But maybe, just maybe Brohm could be and I think we need to find out once and for all. However, as long as Trent remains one stiff wind away from getting hurt, we'll probably see Brohm sooner than later. I just hope we don't see Fitz anymore. He is the definition of journeyman and this team needs way more than that.
  10. Did you watch the last Pittsburgh preseason game ... the guy looked like a turnstile - he was abused.
  11. Not so fast ... Bruce Mathison? Joe Dufek? Mitch Cumstein? Just kidding with that last one.
  12. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Does this mean we have to keep James Hardy???
  13. Do you have a source that says Miami is ready to trade Thigpen ... to a division rival no less? If so, please list it.
  14. 1985 was Bruce Mathison - and I agree it does look like 1985. 1984 was Ferragamo.
  15. You are right ... but sometimes a change can alter attitudes. Example, the Patriots old red and white standing Patriots ... mostly symbolic of playoff failure. The have looked sharper and done better with the blue and silver look. I know. getting Tom Brady helps, too.
  16. While not critical to the overhaul going on at One Bills Drive ... when do these navy blue, cfl/ufl, abomination uniforms go away. I would have thought the mere fact that they were developed under Tom Donahoe would have sent them to the scrap heap long ago, but I keep tuning into to see all navy and want to spew in my shorts. We have tradition, a history ... and yet, we dress our team like an expansion squad circa 2030. Take your pick > the current alternate uniforms as permanent or the 1970s version with the white helmet or the royal blue with red helmet of the beloved 1990s. Update them a bit, but don't make the team look like a laughing stock. The only tie to the current unis is losing and losing badly. Get rid of them!
  17. Word is they are going to cut him ... best guess, he signs with the Texans by next week.
  18. I am sure that some players were irked by his lack of contributions last year and the paycheck he pulled. I don't often agree with Mike Schopp, who said "things that you really think about but would be hesistant to say tend to come out in the heat of the moment." I bet a lot of Bills were tired of his act considering he made zero impact, but acted as if he had (ex. Mayhem shaved into the side of his dome). He best remember that this regime has few ties to Maybin and he could become trade bait or bolted to the bench very easily.
  19. Spiller is a rare talent ... and if a rare talent falls to you, you don't overlook it. Anyone remember how geeked up Gruden was on the draft telecast over Spiller. He knows a thing or two about offense, don'tcha thinka?
  20. Why do so many people get their undies in an uproar when people post a similar topic. If it is soooo awful, don't read it or comment on it. If it is so bad, people will bypass it and the person who posted it will get the message. Its like turning on the radio or tv, if you don't like what's on, change the station.
  21. I was a HUGE Vikings fans as a boy and I hated seeing he and George Atkinson lined up across from Sammy White, Fran Tarkenton, etc. Those Raider teams intimidated everyone ... no teams since then have ever come close. RIP "Jack the Ripper"
  22. Are those sugar snaps? ginger snaps?
  23. Thanks for the post. I hadn't seen this clip and enjoyed watching Gailey work, especially pulling Roscoe aside and trying to do a little teaching. I think that is what many of us forget ... these are professionals, but they still need to be taught and Chan seems like a quality teacher. I am a lot more confident about this hire than I initially was. There was no way we were going to get Bill Cowher, but he doesn't recommend people lightly (I would assume) and he proposed Gailey. I just think we may have hit on a good fit for this team. I don't expect this year to be a winning one. But I want to see a disciplined team that is getting better and forming the foundation for a competitive team.
  24. The problem with the left tackle battle is that it should be a right tackle battle. I think they have some quality candidates for the right side, but no one on the roster to be a solid (if not, gifted) blind side protector. I believe Bell could be a terrific RT, but forcing the issue with him at LT so early in his career is hampering his development. Perhaps, if he was given a chance at RT and some extra time to develop (with a vet LT) he could make the transition down the road. Meredith = solid backup/Wang = chinese porn star Just my two cents.
