  1. Or the attractive coaching options start to dry up.
  2. There is absolutely no reason to play Fitz. If he is here next season as a backup, you already know what you have. There is little to nothing that Perry Fewell can do at this point to impact his role next year ... Brohm, however, is intriguing. He is young, but seems to have a big-time arm ... let him get the reps. this week and see if he improves. Give him a chilly game at home to see how he handles it. That will at least give you some informnation going into next year. Just my two cents.
  3. I agree with the need to fix the O-Line ... as tempting as an early QB might be (see Claussen), getting a stud LT to pencil in with those young guards would give whoever is calling the signals a better chance to find someone and Fred Jackson more lanes to run in. There are enough QB prospects to look at later in the draft and I am convinced that Brohm deserves an off-season look. Use rounds 2 - 5 to search for defensive help (LB, LB, LB) and perhaps we could be headed in the right direrction.
  4. I have no problem with Charlie Weis ... but we need to firebomb the front office and hire a credible GM .... then, if he signs off on Weis ... ok
  5. A tremendous post ... Lombardi is a qualified source, but this sounds like filler material ... just throw out some crap and see what sticks. Nice Job!
  6. I like your thinking, but only Kolb has a bright future - I believe - the rest are retreads. It might cost $$$ for him and he may have flourished because he was playing in Philly's system and with Philly's OL. I also have some hesitancy trading for a QB from Univ. of Houston (see Andre Ware and David Klingler). There had better be real strong conviction on him because, Philly is gonna want A LOT and I bet we are not the only team interested. I feel we should being in a veteran for the transition and draft a QB (2nd or 3rd round) and allow him to learn. Just my two cents.
  7. If I was an oxycontin sales rep. or a "streets" pharmaceutical dealer, I would be ecstatic. If I was a butcher, baker, restaurant owner, fast food manager, etc. I would be overjoyed. If I owned a walk in humidor, I would be in Heaven. Or if I was a pencil-pecker GOP right-wing lunatic, I would be going apesh*t. But I am none of the above, so I would be vomiting. Thanks for asking.
  8. With a large Johnson (Spencer), hard Wood (Eric), and a head Dick (Jauron), we still can't score???
  9. Monday Night Prime Time Offensive Line Better jell Or Dick Gets Pink Slip
  10. Propaganda is twisting the facts or words of a story, recording, media spot to make your argument look more formidable and truthful ... which is exactly what you did. Secondly, I do realize this is the PPP section, but it is still listed with all the other posts. When I want to talk politics, I go to a political site where I expect quality banter. In my sports site, I would prefer to see ... dare we say it ... wait for it ... SPORTS! If I want a steak, I don't go to a fish market. Now, head back to your corner ... and drink the moonshine your papi made ... Billy Joe Jim Bob
  11. Finknoodle & friends ... I hear that FOX is looking for a military specialist to pair with their new political genius, Joe the plumber. Perhaps, you are overqualified with your wealth of knowledge. But hey, there is always the opening in Alaska ... I hear their governor "pulled out early" of her term (sounds like a bad Bill Clinton joke or Sen. Ensign or Sen. Sanford or Newt Gingrich). Remember - Vote Palin in 2012 (- 2014)!
  12. I really enjoy turning to a sports website and reading politics ... perhaps, the FIX, oops, FOX News site would be a better place for this rambling mess. But, since you decided to litter the Bills website with this bit of propaganda, I will weigh in ... - The "soaring deficit" you referred to as part of your post was created by the last president. If you do your research, President Clinton left officer with a surplus. Yes, perhaps he also left with a "woodie" in his pants and an intern under his desk, but he left Washington in much better shape than his predecesor, Bush Sr. I will take a president who balances the budget, protects the environment, controls big business (to make them responsible), and cares about the middle class over those who parade as conservatives, but drive up a huge deficit invading a nation that had nothing to do with the attacks of 9/11. Afghanistan was justified, Iraq was simply a power play to make money for the upper 1% ... aka as Dick Cheney's buddies. As for deficit spending, while World War II ultimately pulled America out of the Great Depression, FDR's deficit spending was having an effect as early as 1935 and with the government putting people back to work, boosted America's morale in a time of great difficulty. The conservative view of your (I am guessing) heroes, like Andrew Mellon (architect of supply side economics) and Ronald Reagan has never shown been shown to do anything for America in an economic downturn. The problem with supply side economics is the faith you must place in the nation's business owners and wealthiest citizens. They must take their profits and reinvest a significant amount to create jobs and build America's workforce - not cut costs by shipping jobs and factories overseas. If the last 25 years can't convince you of the fallacy that is supply side economics ... nothing will. I would rather not see another stimulus package ... but I am willing to go along with the people that are trying to clean up the mess that the village idiot from Texas and his cronies left behind.
  13. I agree ... just roast beef on a bun??? I live in Lewiston and we have a butcher that makes his own roast beef. He slow roasts the beef (aged beef) and produces his own au jus. Pair that with a fresh baked DiCamillo's weck roll with plenty of salt and rye and there is the perfect sandwich. Saying it's just roast beef on a bun is like saying pizza is just tomatoes on a crust. No way!
  14. And while we're at it ... get a white retro sabres jersey and go back to them permanently as well. If it were up for a public vote the retro jerserys as permanent jerseys would win in a landslide!
  15. Did I wander into the Christian-Conserrvative- Douche Bag website ... no, this is still Two Bills Drive. Hmmm, then perhaps we can stick to football ... I think Sean (talking points) Hannity and Rush (Oxycotin) Limbaugh have websites ... try that garbage elsewhere. And by the way, she has 17 years on the federal bench, was picked by Bush Sr. (or is he no good in conservative circles now), had the backing of several Republican senators for federal confirmation and has the most experience at the federal level as any justice in the last 70 years. Hugo Chavez? Try to be better informed moron!
  16. Dear Rocket Scientist: Seth McKinney was not even here last year and Chambers was at Tackle. Nice try though, close to accurate.
  17. A mullet reset ... excellent! I believe opposing OL became mesmerized by the 'do and allowed Wright to penetrate the backfield. Let us not forget, he also had a sweet porrnstache to go along with that mullet! His mullet is second only to Fred Smerlas' and Jim Ritcher's back hair in Buffalo Bills folklore.
  18. I am at home in beautiful Lewiston, with a "Buffalo Lager" in hand. Hoping the Jets choke on it with Mark Sanchez and waiting for #11 ... unless we trade back.
  19. I hate to say it, but ... I have a lot of admiration for the Dolphins and what they have accomplished. Don't get me wrong, I still can't stand the sight of teal and orange, but their new coaches instilled toughness and (in many cases) the belief to play beyond their abilities and succeed. From 1-15 to a division championship in one season ... that doesn't happen without a sharp eye for talent and a front office and coaching staff all on the same page. From Parcells to Ireland to Sparano, they seem to have one united direction and it came from the top. I hate it, but I admire it. As for our local boys, it was sickening to hear the player interviews after today's loss. I understand loyalty to a coaching staff, but will some player at least stand up and vocalize what is truly apparent? The coaches simply aren't good enough. Too many times this season, at critical points, they made embarrasing mistakes (Cleveland, NY Jets, Pats, etc.). Not having players that are good enough to compete with top teams is one thing, but not putting players in situation where they can be successful is a cardinal sin. I am not sure if this team has enough talent to win consistently or not, but I KNOW they don't have the coaching staff capable of coaching them up! Lastly, the above point is mute. Even if the Bills fire Jauron, what is the likelihood that they will pay for a qualified coach (and I don't mean Jim Fassel or Brian Billick)? They won't even spring for a hot prospect like the Pats Josh McDaniels. Buffalo will get a safe retread that will have us in the same spot in three years again. The one and only time that I remeber Ralph going outside of his comfort zone was in hiring Chuck Knox and he was rewarded with some very good seasons. He had to give up some control, but anyone worth a damn will require that type of commitment. I hate to say it, but unless Raplh passes on and the winds of change smile on Buffalo with a white knight riding in to keep the franchise here, the chances of fielding a winner are remote. A new owner with deep pockets and a desire to change the team's fortunes is the best shot we have. Until then, I am afraid we have no shot at all. Well, that was cathartic ... I feel better. Thanks for reading if you made it this far. Feel free to pick me apart. Here's looking forward to free agency and the draft!
  20. After reviewing some of the Bills late round picks (Xavier Omon, Demetrius Bell, Steve Johnson), I am walking away with quite an impression of Tom Modrak and company. I am not saying that any of these guys make the team, but the Bils have given themselves a chance at some real finds. - Xavier Omon appears to have good ability, running low to the ground with dtermination. He also seems to be able to catch out of the backfield. - Demetrius Bell reminds me of a possible "House" Ballard. A huge man with good feet, but not a lot of experience. If he gets good coaching, he could be an integral part of our line in the future. - Steve Johnson looks to be a great value pick. At 6-2 he has the height the Bills desire and appears to have solid footwork. He could be a nice possession receiver and as a 7th round pick, he can take some time to develop. Just some observations. I think this is another solid draft. Three in a row.
  21. From the sound bites I have heard, it seems like Modrak really likes McKelvin and I see no problem with that pick. He has good size, is extremely quick and is a factor returning kicks and punts. The way they looked at him at the senior bowl, was as the best CB there. Bills scouts seem to love Jordy Nelson. He has a history of making big plays against quality competition and certainly has excellent size. While I would rather see them take a Sweed or a Kelly, I think Nelson would be an excellent addition and a guy that has the attitude you look for - willing to do anything to help the team. I could live with those two picks and I can see them taking Kellen Davis in Round 3. By the time they pick, some of the better TEs will be gone and Davis has a lot of upside. He has the absolute TE body and with solid coaching could be a real steal - only problem, it may take a while to develop. Nice post - thanks.
  22. I don't really have any suggestions ... I was just glad to hear someone who held similar positions on Mike Schopp. He belittles callers and seems to be in a nasty mood each and every day. I don't know if he hates his job or not - but that is what is coming through the radion ... that he would rather be doing something else. I like the bulldog, but Schopp needs an attitude adjustment.
  23. Why are the Bengals interested? Did he just get arrested?
  24. With the end of the Sabres season, I have been wracking my brain with draft analysis. One minute, I am sold on takingv a wideout. Then, DBs flood my brain - I hear Marv saying, "you can never have enough DBs." Now, I am confident I have come to the only logical conclusion ... well, at least until tomorrow ... DE. (Groan ...I know, but hear me out!) Point #1 - Pressure on the QB. We lack a standout DE and have since BRUCE left. Schobel is a nice player, especially against average to mediocre teams, but adding a "young buck" to the rotation can allow Schobel, Kelsay and Denney to stay even fresher. And who knows ... it may push some of them harder in training camp (can anyone say Schobel?) Pressure makes average secondaries look way above average ... helping out another spot of need > cornerback. Point #2 - If Harvey or Merling is on the board at #11 (especially Harvey) and he checks out with football smarts and off-the-field character issues, you have to take him. WRs simply aren't drafted at #11. Two of the games best were drafted mid-to-late first round > Jerry Rice (#25, I think) and Randy Moss (#17 or #18). Early picks are spent on the line or difference making linebackers. #11 is simply too high for a Malcolm Kelley, especially in a deep draft. Point #3 - You may well get that tall, sturdy receiver in the second round. Football gods willing, Kelley may even slip and you can pull a Poz and get him in Round #2. That will leave Round #3 for an inviting TE prospect with potential or another WR in this deep of a draft. * I believe getting Will (on't call me Petersen) James sealed the deal for not drafting a CB in the first round. Extra pressure will help McGee and James (or Greer) and allow the Bills to draft one later or look to 2009 draft. Time for bed ... go ahead and pick my thought apart.
