  1. While I feel bad for his family (even though he had a long and wealthy, privileged life), this is one of the happier days I have had in a while. While he rebuilt the Yanks, he also ushered in the era of non-competition in baseball (yes, with Bud Selig's help). I can't stand the fact that the Pirates and Royals used to be perennial winners and now they are out of the pennant race by May - they simply cannot compete. As a Red Sox fan this is somewhat hypocritical ... but even the Sox cannot compete with the Yankees' money. The Yanks bought last year's series win and I am sure will attempt to purchase the 2010 title. Well, at least there is Hank Steinbrenner to still hate. The only thing that would make today sweeter is if Dick Cheney bought the farm, too.
  2. Quality post ... even in a democracy (supposed) like America, cultural attributes (even ones gleaned from Communism) can be learned from. They were schooled in the way to succeed and they brought it with them to teach their children. I wouldn't mind more parents with the same mindset. Good job.
  3. Thanks ... I heard some negatives about this choice, but now I am pretty pumped to see him in camp and maybe grow into RT or LT we can count on.
  4. I just spit water all over my bar ... LMFAO ... hilarious!
  5. a player at #9 that will have to sit most, if not all, of this year to learn a pro-style offense and how to read NFL defenses? I can live with Tebow in the 2nd ... but not at #9. Put the bong down.
  6. I am by no means a Colin Cowherd fan, but he brought up a good point in recent days - how seven out of eight NFL divisions were won by the team with the best QB (and often the order of how teams finished in each division replicated the order of their quality QBs). Surely the AFC East followed the order of: Brady, Sanchez, Henne, and Edwards/Fitzpatrick. That said, I think Buffalo needs to move up and get their QB. Bradford will be gone ... Clausen may be available, but I think we may have to trade up to get him. He is surely cocky and arrogant. But he has a big time arm and has the mind of a QB that has experience in the pro-style offense. Yes, he is originally a CA quarterback, but he played in the midwest. That is my two cents.
  7. Thanks for the excellent read ... seems like we may need to move up to get Claussen ... I don't see him falling to us. Love the part about depth at OT. Rethinking my whole draft board.
  8. While I appreciate the enthuisiasm of one Jim Kelly, and I know that Coach Gailey thinks he is an engaging young man, I don't want Timmy here. My reasoning is twofold ... one, he is a warm weather QB (not a Cali QB, but not much difference) ... not too many snow games in the SEC. Two, he doesn't have the strongest arm or throw the tighest spiral - a real issue in the swirling winds at the Ralph. Add in the "walk on water" evangelical credo and I have to pass. Am I off base? Flame away.
  9. get that lard ass in here ... even if we draft a NT,they historically take time to excel ... I agree with the thoughts of drafting one and letting him sit a few years behind Rodgers. With Rodgers, our D becomes a lot better right away.
  10. He was drafted as a quick, penetrating "Tampa 2" DT ... not a lard ass NT that we need ... if he survives on this team, I will be shocked.
  11. I appreciate your enthusiasm ... but, there is no way that Mt. Cody slips to Buffalo in the second and I wouldn't be surprised if LeFevour ends up in the late first or early second. I agree that Baluga would be a great pick at slot #9. Lastly, a rookie NT almost NEVER makes an immediate impact in the NFL. It seems that NT's need a few years of seasoning before they blossom and we can't afford to wait.
  12. Ahh, it was alright ... I hope Heatley drives the bus, was a good line!
  13. Good question ... I think the ability to read defenses quickly and get rid of the ball to the correct receiver or check out of the play to go with a better call. I guess that would be intelligence. Obviously, the QB has to have some tools, but some of the greatest QBs were not the most physically gifted - they were intelligent, were studious, and had a hell of a work ethic - something everyone from B-LO can appreciate.
  14. Well, I hope he changes because as a QB right now, he is pretty terrible. To win in the NFL you (at least) have to be able to take snaps from under center. Perhaps, he should concentrate on that skill before worrying about a situation that he will never be able to experience - namely, childbirth. At this point, he'll be lucky to be taken by the 5th round.
  15. Welcome to the light brother! Not all of us are knuckle-draggers. In my opinion, this is a sports site so none of this crap belongs here anyways.
  16. First Amendment rights allow him to speak ... just like my First Amendment rights allow me to say I don't want a pro-life, Bible-thumping, Christian conservative, born-again as my quarterback, tight end, full back or whatever he turns out to be. Sorry, I think the guys that put forth an opinion on that topic are way off base ... when you can carry a baby to term, buddy, then you can have an opinion. And just for the right-wingers out there ... I am not pro-choice ... I am not pro anything ... if I haven't or can't experience it, what the hell good is my opinion anyways.
  17. Which hall of fame > Bible-thumping? Men with wives who have mullets? Just saying.
  18. Tebow is a leader on the field, no question, but what exactly does he know about becoming pregnant or carrying a fetus? For that matter, what does has he endured during his 22 years on the earth that qualifies him to advise people to "focus on the family"? Tim, play football ... heck, even come to Buffalo and be a leader here ... but if you are going to do some Bible-thumping, keep it far away from me. I heard Kurt Warner may retire ... try saving souls in the desert. Come to think of it, keep it off my TV screen, too.
  19. 18-14 ... terrible? This is not the move I want, but he was hardly terrible.
  20. Three years to heal??? Was it torn off like John Wayne Bobbitt's talleywhacker? Was he "beating the bishop"so much to avoid having to sleep with his wife? No, perhaps it is because he now has all-world Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin and he use dto have Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce and Marshall Faulk. Warner is a good QB, just not the omnipotent, all-world, Bible-thumping QB this board seems to think he is.
  21. It's too bad that you have the screenname of such an awesome band when you have such a weak take. Yes, Warner is a good QB who has had the good fortune to have awesome weapons 2X in his career. However, when he had a less stellar supporting cast (see NY Giants) and OF coordinator, he was horrific. I also cannot stand the "thank you Jesus!" poster boy that he seems to be. But I am from the old-school or religion (see non- born again, non-fundamentalist), where you set an example by the life you lead, not by the first microphone you get in front of. That aspect of Kurt Warner makes me want to puke in my suit. But, if you want him, you can have him.
  22. From what I hear (i.e. Peter King and ESPN), Cowher wants at least what Shanahan got from Washington and that the Panther's owner, Jerry Richardson, is not willing to pay a coach anywhere near that amount. So, perhaps the chin will head back to CBS and keep waiting.
