  1. Actually, the best part about the Lynch trade wasn't as much as who we got, or will get for him, it's the playing time Fred Jackson gained and his production made it all worth while...
  2. You really should investigate your premise. Gone Broke... Based on SI's article above, you may wish to evaluate your comment, and do a bit of research first next time.
  3. Hoge is frequently a flat out blowhard, and thinks far more himself than anyone else. Yet, in this case.....I agree with him. The game should never tolerate players willfully trying to knock opponents out, or worse. Bounty systems are wrong, at any level, so the NFL must do the right thing for the game itself, and continue to come down hard on the Saints, and any other teams doing the same thing.
  4. I would disagree and he merely rode the coat tails of a the GM before him (Polian). When the smoke finally settled and the cupboard was bare, be bolted. Butler oversaw the demise of they Bills and was incapable of reloading the team with the talent needed to compete. He also had a penchant for overpaying lesser or aging players thus the 2001 salary cap mess we ended up in.
  5. Jeez, isn't that the truth.....
  6. Fitz isn't a star, by any measure, but there are good things he can do. The long ball isn't one of them, but even those throws could have only been made tougher with cracked ribs, which may explain a few of those under thrown balls that likely cost the Bills a win or two (with the ensuing picks). I'm far more worried at this point with what is behind him. Thigpen? He was horrible in preseason last year, horrible in his few regular season appearances, and there's no development QB is sight. Sure hope a quality backup QB comes available (Nix hinted he expects some and I hope he's right).
  7. Toshiero, it's not about Kool Aid, it's about how you have no more clue on how the Bills picks will turn out than an inch worm does. No one does. You think only the Bills have had busts? I suggest you start doing some homework. For now, all the guys picked in the 2012 Draft can all play in the NFL., and that will continue until they prove otherwise. Yes, some may be Bills picks, but I have a hunch that similar misses will be made all across the league......
  8. The "Crash" curse is behind you. LOL
  9. Peters injury could spell the end of his career, and his pro bowl ability, for at least a couple years. Achilles injuries, even when successfully repaired and rehabilitated take a couple years. Spikes returned to be a good, though not a great of a player, and Cowart came back but was never anywhere near the same player he was before the injury. Sure, someone will cite a player who was more successful in returning to form, but the achilles is still a very bad injury. If Bell can stay healthy, the Eagles may have yet another very good LT, courtesy of the Bills. Admittedly, I was hoping Bell would return, but the Peters injury made the Eagles a bit desparate if you ask me and over paid for him a bit. Yet if he turns out to be healthy, they could have gotten a LT for 5 years at a very reasonable price. Like everything in life, they took the gamble the Bills appeared unwilling to take at the numbers being tossed around. I wish Demetress (hate the "new" spelling) well however. I liked him far more than what I've seen of Hairston to date. Bills to go LT in round one?
  10. Nice update, but the lead in to the Brad Butler bit was incorrect. Butler played decently, not great, at guard for the Bills. He was was switched to RT in his fourth year with the Bills, got hurt in his second at the position, and never played again for the Bills as he elected to retire in Feb 2010 to pursue other interests. He may have made a fine RT, but we will never know.
  11. Sign of the times. Journalism and reporting (not necessary to same things) is far too often heavily slanted in one direction or the other. I prefer it when I'm presented with facts and left to think rather than the ever popular heavily slanted sound bites and opinions that most run with these days.
  12. It wasn't odd to me, in fact, it seemed like a simple attempt to find a position for this big (athletic?) mountain. I would agree with both those who noted as DL, he didn't get any push in last years preseason, and that he did get pushed a round more than a guy his size should be.
  13. Just say NO to the standing Buffalo......
  14. Kamar Aiken last preseason looked the most like a WR of all (other than SJ). Don't believe he's very speedy though. Roosevelt looked decent at times, but clealry he's not the guy the Bill's brass is looking for. Donald Jones has most of the physical qualities, but is very raw and to this fan, not very impressive either. That experiment would be best put to rest....
  15. Bell has become far more than just OK when healthy. He's played well, and is far more mobile and athletic than is Hairston from what I've seen. Before Bell is thrown under the bus, let us remember that Hairston got hurt too and when he returned, he looked rather mediocre at best and frequently rather poor. The comparison with Jonas Jennings is a fair one however, as Bell has had a lot of trouble staying on the field. Yet, in 2010 after coming back from a knee injury and surgery, he did play and start in all 16 games, all while not being anywhere near a 100%. That showed guts and want to. Personally, I'd hate to see him go.
  16. McKelvin is a feats or famine CB, with more time of hunger than would be preferred. McGee may be old, but he has outplayed Florence, who has been brutally horrible and who basically gave the Giants their win over Buffalo. In fact, I expect McGee to actually up his game the longer he stays healthy, even though he's on the wrong side of 30.
  17. Dear God, I have been saying that for weeks, even before he got hurt.
  18. ...and to further add to the point, what does anyone think he was brought in for? It was well know we needed D help, even with the last draft stocking up on D. He hasn't added anything to this point. When he was in Dallas back in their early 90's heydey, they had the horses, and I don't recall him having to be too creative. He simply lined them up and let them play. Our D hasn't been strong enough to do this since 1999.
  19. Donal Jones needs to grab some pine. Karem Aiken looked more like a WR in preseason than Jones has looked for a year and a half. That's not a good sign. Sadly, to those mentioning Easley, he may have played his last bit of football. We haven't heard anything of his condition, which is also not a good sign.
  20. FG was the correct call, and the least of the issues with the Bills performance today. How about a Defense that can't make a third down play to save their lives. Or an offense unable to throw a pass more than 5 yards, and on a third and three, the WR runs a yard and a half route. Offensively, only Freddie showed up. Andy Levitre has done a decent job at LT, but the first couple of plays today, he was on another planet. He needs to get back to LG and either Hairston or Brittle Bell has to come back, and now.
  21. Rough couple of games? Without the the Ints in earlier games, we'd have more losses, 3 at least. The yardage the Bills give up and TOP is totally unacceptable.
  22. As a WR, Jones has been little more than a drive stopper for most of the season, with just a couple halves so far as exceptions.
  23. Sadly, who takes his place? Wanny? Wanny I'm sure has had his input, and maybe even some play calling as well and the results speak for themselves. Yet, a statement needs to be made to the defense that what they have done is unacceptable.
  24. Makes a lot of sense. Spencer Johnson could speel at Tackle, and Dwan Edwards and Carrington could battle it out for the Left Defensive End. One area of concern though is MLB, and Barnett, as well as he has played at times, is on the small side. He could find himself in a battle with Shepard for it. Chris White may also be in the MLB mix next year as well. This would leave OLB a real sore spot though, but it already is that anyway. We still have no known answers for LB's period going forward.
  25. Reality was that the Jets normally Blitz more often than they did yesterday, electing instead to keep their LBs crowding the short passing game Gailey and Fitz favor. I noticed a few more run blitzes than pass blitzes and their run blitzes were very effective. Even when we ran against 6 in the box, which was probably 4-5 times, we did very little overall, save one 20 plus yard run by Jackson. Play after play, it seemed as if the Jets knew where we were going before we did. Chan needs to work on that. Our tendencies are pretty well known now. Oh, and no more pass completions short of the first down. Any WR who comes up a yard or less short in their route needs to be taken to the woodshed.
