  1. You joke, but you arent wrong. From the Rule Book: What this means: When in doubt, it is the Defender's fault. Throw the flag.
  2. Do you have that from the NFL, or is that your own interpretation? Because historically, when talking about running into the kicker for example, "blocked into" does actually mean "pushed into".
  3. You'll be lonely while the rest of us are in the bars around the new downtown stadium ? And the "frat kids" I refer to include the 30-40+somethings that are just as guilty. I blame the Canadians.
  4. And now my disagreement with your disagreement with my disagreement... He could have controlled himself better.
  5. I mean, you're welcome to your opinion and own perception of reality. But I, others, and most importantly the refs and NFL, disagree. When players get flipped while running the ball, they rarely travel an extra 5 yards forward. Most of that roll was initiated by Milano after he hit the ground. I understand we wont change each others minds. And again I do appreciate the in-depth rules analysis. This is the type of football discussion that I come to the board for.
  6. You missed the important Note #1 Notes: (1) A defender cannot initiate a roll or lunge and forcibly hit the passer in the knee area or below, even if he is being contacted by another player.
  7. All fair enough points. But... I typically spend well over $100 on tailgating supplies every game. This entire weekend, I spent $50 at the bars. Maybe $100 total if I add in food. It's a wash on price really. When the Bills start winning, the football fans will come back and replace the "frat kids" that attend games now. The people who get blackout drunk and dont even make it into the game. When the Bills are good, the fans will want to stay sober enough to actually see the game. The trend of "crazy" tailgating only started when we needed to come up with a reason to go since no one wanted to watch the team. Sure, people always drank and had a good time, but not at the current levels of debauchery until the 2000s. Ha, winning the Super Bowl is a whole different mess. When we do, I'll be up there to loot and riot as well
  8. They filled it with RB Senorise Perry, right?
  9. Not really. It's what it looks like, not saying that's what happened. In real time, looking like that, the refs will always throw the flag. Watching the replay, the hand-spring is exactly what happened. If he doesnt extend his arms, he hits the ground and bounces and doesnt hit the QB. Again, not saying he should be expected to control all that. But Im also not surprised it drew the flag.
  10. Yeah, I think that's what got him flagged. Looked like a hand-spring and a leg-whip into the QB.
  11. We're close, but I disagree with "clearly". Looks just as much like Milano hand-springs into him. Is it probably momentum? Yeah, maybe. But it also looks like he exaggerated the flip, which is why it got called. Dont get me wrong, I wish it hadnt been called. But knowing the rule and the way the league is, I understand why and expect it to draw the flag.
  12. Great article here regarding both penalties and the rules: https://tinyurl.com/y3cqzmyj As long as its called consistently (like when Josh gets hit low), then I dont mind.
  13. But as Alpha pointed out, they dont call it if the Defender is blocked in, like on Punts. Disagree that its an absurd rule. But I do appreciate you bringing it up for discussion.
  14. That's... not quite accurate. Sure, anything is possible in high-impact contact sports, but EVERY major injury we've seen in football has been caused by improper form when making contact. Dropping the head and leading with the crown/top. Not the way to tackle. It wont take them all out of the game, but it has taken a lot of them out of the game. When the accidental ones are the only ones left happening, the rule worked.
  15. I cant believe Im saying this, but to be fair this was the Carson Palmer rule. Definitely sped along by the Brady injury though too.
  16. It was indeed Roughing the Passer according to the modern rules. I said "Thats a flag" the second i happened, and sure enough.... Even if "unavoidable" (which I agree with) The idea that an OL would purposely throw a Defender into his own QB's knees is a bit ludicrous. That OL would be cut immediately.
  17. We didnt stay long either, but we did walk through on way to hotel. Way more packed, looked like a blast.
  18. That's a problem, and a result of the Bills sucking for 20 years. The game should be the best, and most important part. It will mean less knuckleheads jumping through tables and finding ways to drink themselves into stupors because no one in the stadium cares about the actual game. Would LOVE to go back to when the craziness played 2nd fiddle to the actual game. Maybe start your own tailgating league? And besides, even with the big crowd, it was always easy to get a drink. Especially when you buy them in 5-bottle buckets at a time.
  19. Pretty much, yes. But more so: post-game bar hopping, because everyone funneled back over that bridge and right into the strip. Big money for those bars and restaurants. Big tax revenue for the area.
  20. As others mentioned, it's definitely easier. There was no real tailgating. Maybe a few Tenn fans in their season ticket holder lot, with small setups. And a couple of large corporate tents. So there is no "real" tailgating, if that is what you want. But Nashville has it setup so getting in and out of the stadium pushes you through the Broadway bar strip. Didnt have to pack a cooler, didnt have to pack a grill, didnt have to pack supplies, didnt have to go grocery shopping the day before to stock up, didnt have to get out early just to get the fire going, didnt have to start cleaning up and packing up to make the game. Just got in an uber and went to the bars for a couple hours, then walked to the stadium. Oh, it rained the entire morning (9-11am), but we didnt notice because we were in the bars. It let up right as we left for the stadium, so no being wet or trapped in rain gear for the whole day. I come from a line of intense tailgaters, some of my dad's parties were legendary, but this was so easy and all the BS is left to someone else. You can still meet up with friends and have the pre-game camaraderie. I could get used to it.
