Like I said in another thread, it was a culmination of multiple days of it. Beane is very in tune with what the fans and media want and he doesn’t try to act like he doesn’t read the press clippings when you did. He was already irritated after day 2 with the press, the fans , and not saying he reads this board but plenty on this board were displeased with the Sanders pick solely because he wasn’t 320+ plus DT. He even mentioned in the Day 3 presser about how the media kept pushing the narrative to him that they didn’t get big enough at DT. T.J Sanders had his availability to the media and if you watch 9 minutes probably 6 to 7 mins of it was what did you play at South Carolina , did you play the 1T at all. What’s your playing weight? How high do you think you can play at. I’m sure Beane saw it and shook his head. So he listens to that and Day 3 comes out and his first pick is Deone Walker a guy they’ll play at the 1T who is very large and thinks the media will be happy about only to come out of the draft to questions about why he didn’t take a WR earlier and he’s probably thinking to himself WTF as the media rides him about that. So he keeps his cool, is probably pissed but he puts a lid on it only to come on the radio and find two more guys talking down to him about not taking a WR and that probably made him boil over to what you saw this morning. I don’t blame him. In the mock special, @GunnerBill correctly predicted 2/3 top picks, we talked extensively about T.J Sanders and when Gunner picked Alfred Collins at 62 I said in the podcast that I expect the Bills to address CB in round 1, take a 3T in round 2 and then I expected them to take either an Edge or a WR(they took Jackson) and then I said I expect them to take a 1T in the 4th round because the value was better there. Between the two of us we were spot on almost with the draft philosophy of the Bills and this draft. The only exception was waiting until the 7th to take a WR

Elijah Moore Visiting the Bills today (Update: Signed!)

They sold their souls last year in the transfer portal trying to make the playoff and failed at it. For the amount of money they put into that program sniping players from other programs they don’t win enough. Nolan, Amos, Dart amongst many others were not originally Miss players -
I did want to take one in this draft just because the value is there. Taking one in the 7th you might have been able to sneak a guy on the PS. Two of my favorites Brashard Smith and LeQuint Allen both went round 7 but I get why they didn’t do it

Yup sometimes a squirrel finds a nut lol. It was the right year to do it. I thought they were going to use 5 of their picks on DL/ Secondary . Turned out they used 6. I think if they had taken a mid round WR no one would have graded this draft less than an A- but people will knock the Bills for that

Buffalo Bills Consensus Draft Grades

I’m somewhere between an A- and a B+. Favorite pick: TJ Sanders Least: Deone Walker -
Elijah Moore Visiting the Bills today (Update: Signed!)

I just think that Brady is of the ilk of get me guys who can RAC and I’ll scheme them to get open. He does this well with guys particularly when it comes to the middle of the football field. I would feel better with Moore as well and because of his age you would hope he has some upside still or having a better QB allows for increased production -
I listened to it and it’s funny because I think both sides are correct. I do think that Jeremy wasn’t expecting that and the look on his face was a oh sh*t how do I calm this down.

Elijah Moore Visiting the Bills today (Update: Signed!)

I do think he would add the horizontal speed aspect that they talked about more than the vertical aspect for sure. I wonder if signing Palmer was their solution to the vertical aspect even though he doesn’t run particularly fast -
Elijah Moore Visiting the Bills today (Update: Signed!)

Year my first thought process is that this is like Josh Palmer but more the speed Josh Palmer. Legit NFL WR that has underachieved so far but has some really good traits that the Bills/Allen hope to elevate -
I would be too . Haven’t listened yet but the Buffalo media asked nothing but size questions on DT after Day 2 of the draft and pretty much did the same thing to TJ Sanders in his media availability asking him what his weight was and how much he thinks he can gain. Beane actually mentioned this at the Day 3 presser about DT than he gets hammered about not taking a WR earlier in the draft which I think we all wanted but it’s clear that myself and a lot of other people were off on Jalen Royals round projection etc. It’s clear that the Bills valued Deone Walker more than staying put and getting a WR at 132 and whoever the best 1T/DT was at pick 169 if they hadn’t traded up.

Totally get it but at the same time the Bucs defense is absolute garbage and the only reason they win that division every year is because the other teams are awful. It’s not an indication how good the Bucs are Everybody keeps talking about last years class because it was perceived as a great class but as it pertains to difference makers even in that strong class no one from the 3rd round on made really any type of contribution in their rookie year . Maybe future years will be different for that class but people acting as if if KeAndre Smith or others were going to come in and get reps in their rookie year as a difference making vertical threat are mistaken

How quick do we sign Shaun Dolac as a UFDA?
gonzo1105 replied to billrooter's topic in The Stadium Wall
He did a good job picking the Rams. They had a huge need at LB and only took Paul in the draft in round 5 -
I mean I don’t necessarily disagree with you. I just think that they believe the offense is set this year and the defense needed a complete overhaul and they were right in that sense. I always thought they would take 3 DL and 2 DBs in this class and I was wrong they took 3 so I understand the line of thinking that those two groupings needed an overhaul and they used the strength of the draft to hopefully achieve that goal. They need Coleman to take a leap and they need Kincaid to get back to form of his rookie season if not better or they’ll be spending another 3rd rounder week 6 for a weapon
-
I think their thought process is that we have our 4 WRS all locked up beyond this year. Samuel, Coleman, Shakir, and Palmer are basically all locks to make the roster for various reasons and the # 5 WR that they have kept over their tenure has been a STs guy. Well look no further than Shavers who has been here the last couple of years developing and his specialty is Special teams play. Then Shenault is here as a possible returner and 6th guy if they want to go in that Direction. In their minds they probably only had a PS opening available for a WR this year and that’s probably where Prather will end up unless he absolutely explodes onto the scene. I’m not saying it’s the right strategy I just am trying to get into their line of thinking on why

Bills 5th Round Pick (#2) : Jackson Hawes - TE - Georgia Tech
gonzo1105 replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
I will not accept Jackson Hawes slander. Haven’t even read a post on here about him and I already know what’s being talked about. Good tough ball player -
With the draft over it is time for the udfa thread
gonzo1105 replied to scuba guy's topic in The Stadium Wall
He is undersized and ran incredibly slow. Apparently word was he was a bad interview too for a lot of teams. Loved him early on but not surprised he went UDFA -
There was word that Kenneth Grant has a weird personality but man he couldn't have gone to a better situation for weird personalities cause Mike McDaniel is a weird mfer After taking 3 DL, we are not getting any high level DL UDFA's to come here.
-
He also has never gone pee while on set apparently during the draft. I find that hard to believe with his old age unless he keeps a bottle under the table.
-
Nobody is picking up Bond until his situation is resolved not even as a UDFA imo
-
Can't say I love the Rams draft.
-
I mean I watch the whole thing every year so I might as impart my wisdom/annoyance on everyone while i'm at it on this board haha
-
Beane probably took him so he doesn't have to field 90 questions about not taking a WR with the media in 10 minutes.
-
WR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOO For the Board lol
-
Da'Quan Felton still out there if you want a WR we met with, I like Jackson Woodard from UCLA, obviously Dolac , Clay Webb Jacksonville State. I still like some DB's that would be hilarious.
-
Yea he realized about 4 rounds ago he made a mistake and should have stayed in college and got that couple of million. Now he's making damn near minimum and is a backup i'd be pissed too lol.
