  1. If you'd like to hear more from EJ here's part of his post draft interview (that they showed clips of in the original video) - Favorite answer was when someone kept pounding on Buffalo being cold, having snow/etc: "I'll get my shovel." Love it!
  2. I think Nix is finishing the job he tried with the 1st staff. Remember he wanted the 3-4 and mentioned such to Chan. Also, he mentioned mid-season and then after the draft he wanted to build a line and some of the defense before getting a QB and "ruining him". Same thing happened in San Diego with their turnover roster wise. So between the two of them Nix can give Whaley a better roster as GM (eventually) than Nix himself had going in.
  3. The Bills also have Carrington and Choice as clients of Parker's group. So I think the Jason Peters issue may just be with Jason, and not necessarily his agent as well.
  4. I think the author is referring to the Bills Depth chart on webpage, but I think that's inaccurate and out of date.
  5. Adam Caplan was on John Murphy Show tonight. Said that the language wasn't going to be approved by management council due to some nuances in new CBA, so they had to re-write some things and it would be approved in 24-48 hours. Not the "amateurs" fault or Kolb's agent, just red tape on a few things.
  6. The writer used to write for PFT, so snarky, Entertainment-Tonight non-stories will join the usual Around the League news. The writer also fails to mention how every team will have their new/rookie players wear their names taped on their helmets (from HS to the Pros) because the coach doesn't know who they are. Ah well. I presume he wrote an article on why the 'Phins had to put a name-tag on their 8th overall, franchise QB? No?
  7. Ironically, like TO did with the Ravens (or threatened to) all Boldin had to do was not show up to report and void the trade. So I doubt the Bills were an option for him...
  8. On the Niners side, Kaepernick said that they saw the blitz and checked to a back shoulder fade. The Ravens however, also said post-game they knew that when Kaepernick tapped the back of his helmet, that was the signal for a back-shoulder fade and covered accordingly. For all of the talk of this call, very few Niners fans have admitted they got away with a killshot on Flacco a yard plus out of bounds the third down prior for Ravens.
  9. I think he'll do better, not only because of natural progression, but because Pettine can scheme him (or any of the defenders really) to be the free rusher with overloads/fake overloads like he did for some of the Jets that weren't the best at rushing the passer.
  10. Pettine coaches from the Box (or did with Jets) to assist (like Wannstedt) seeing the field and what's going on during the game. Depending on the success of the defense (and coordinator) that's usually seen as being a weeny or being smart.
  11. That I get Kelly. I'm hoping this takes the edge off some of the feelings of the media re: the cloak of invisibility at OBD. Will it in truth? I doubt it.
  12. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/press-coverage/2013/01/doug-marrones-assistants-set-to-meet-the-media.html Hopefully some of the media can get the questions they want answered from all staff now that they'll be available...
  13. Yup that was the exact order he put them. It's weird because that part is now missing from last night's show. Verrry Twilight-Zone-y
  14. Per Nix on WGR a few minutes ago he has as his top needs - 1. Young QB, 2. WR that can play ala "Anquan Boldin, don't have to be 6'5+ but may weigh 220+ and get the ball in jump-ball situations" and 3. Two linebackers, who can "cover and run". IMO Te'o can cover but he can't run. Damontre Moore, Dion Jordan? Those cats can move.
  15. One of the things that hurts Buddy in the QB derby to me was Gailey most likely insisting Fitz was okay, and that Buddy could continue to build the other pieces of the team. By the time Buddy had a bead that wasn't accurate, wheels came off this year. When he does pick the QB this year, no doubt he'll get the right guy.
  16. No one get too upset but (GASP) Pettine typically is up in the booth, y'know, to see everything while calling plays... http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/rex-ryan-mike-pettine-dennis-thurman-nuts-brains-behind-ny-jets-defense-article-1.962086?pgno=2
  17. Here are a few articles to get you away from 3-4 thoughts with Pettine/Jets. Rex basically has adapted his dad's 4-6 to fit any front now. http://bit.ly/9dCigU http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/13/sports/football/13ravens.html?_r=0 http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/13/AR2005061301547.html http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/the_bonus/08/02/layden.excerpt/index.html http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2010/4/9/1412079/football-101-the-ravens-hybrid
  18. The release you're thinking about Kelly is like the first guy that they put in IR then waived/injured. Since he passed the physical and isn't hurt at time of cut it's not for injury. And since the Bills are under the cap and aren't cutting him to stay under (after say an extension) then it's not for cap purposes - or the old school June 1st cut designation. Because it's for skill nothing's owed. I think.
  19. Merriman would've been due a base salary of $4 million for this season, with $3 million of that guaranteed if he had been released before the season began because of injury or salary-cap reasons. So the 3 million rotoworld mentioned is guaranteed but not for skill. So they're free of it without paying him. And cap wise, they save around 5 million all being told, so that's not bad at all.
  20. I would go P2 for QB and WR, P3 for OLB and DE. In this defense, the SAM linebacker is the least important of the three linebackers. The Will and the Mike will make all the tackles and the Sam leaves the field on third down/passing downs anyway. Would rather see a QB, DE or WR in round 1.
  21. Stevie and his agents chose to push the extension talks off into the off-season after nothing came of their training camp chats. He then chose to take the extension in the off-season. Choice is a marvelous thing, no?
  22. That makes sense, though if there were three - I would think one is Bell's "cart off" and then the other two were for big plays/turnovers...
