TSW Mock Draft 3.0 Poll - Who should the Bills take at #27
Dr. Who replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't think he's a sure thing. There is some risk, but he's a legitimate difference maker on offense that adds to Diggs as someone the D can't ignore. So all in all, I'm for gambling he has a few solid years left in him. -

No one will care if DHop is a key ingredient in winning a SB. I'm guessing you are skeptical he can be that kind of difference maker. -
TSW Mock Draft 3.0 Poll - Who should the Bills take at #27

I think that's plausible. As I am not as high on Campbell as you and many others here are and I want to employ the early picks at different positions, I hope they are playing it straight when they say they are comfortable with the incumbents. -
TSW Mock Draft 3.0 Poll - Who should the Bills take at #27
Dr. Who replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
This poll remains ambiguous to me. I would favor a swap of 34 and 27 for Hopkins. That is conceivably entailed in the more generic trade back. I think including Oliver is too much. 1) It increases our need at DT where we already probably need to draft one. 2) I don't think the Cards would want him. They are trying to shed cap, not just redistribute it for a one year rental. 3) I think there's a possibility the Bills like Oliver more than many here do. In any event, he has more value as a player this year for a team trying to win a SB than he would elsewhere. In sum, I'm not keen on the specific option, but if the generic option is just a random trade back, I'll take a chance on Zay Flowers. -
Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?
Dr. Who replied to NeverOutNick's topic in The Stadium Wall
Well, maybe I am confused on what the multiple swapping of picks scenario presumes. I think the fella is proposing 27 for 34 to acquire Hopkins and 91 for 105 to get the Cards to eat some (more?) of Hopkins' contract. I don't know if the latter is necessary. I suspect the initial swap would include AZ retaining some contract. If they don't get a taker and release him, it costs them 8M for nothing. If I'm Beane, I begin by expecting AZ to take that much. Fella I was responding to was advocating adding a conditional 2024 pick to the 27 for 34 swap. I'm for the latter. I'm saying you shouldn't have to add to it. -

There's a good chance AZ ends up having to cut him for nothing and they still have to eat 8M of deadcap. I wouldn't throw them a bone that isn't needed and I don't think it's needed. -

It's like a third party candidate coming in and throwing the election to the party that is least like the others. -

Oliver seems like an overpay and it increases the need at DT. -

I am one of those who is not concerned with LB. I don't see it as a major hole like many do. There are fellas like Myles Jack out there you could sign as a FA after the draft that would be a decent stop gap. Klein is capable as a role player. If I go D early, I'm much more inclined to go edge or DT. Obviously, folks who are anxious about it think there is urgency to address the need. This is a draft where I would mainly concentrate on strengthening the oline and adding weapons for Josh. -

I understand. I've been floating the Downs idea because I think he'll be a great slot and we still have uncertainty at the position. All that is dependent on a fella like Hopkins, because though slot is uncertain, I think we need a big receiver that is better than Davis more. If the Hopkins Downs scenario were to happen, Davis might thrive as a WR4. Joe Marino thinks that is where his talent best matches up. I would consider trading him to recoup a draft pick if the pick were high enough. -

Bresee might be there. He could go in the first. Hell, if we don't trade back we might take him at 27. Personally, if you make that trade, provided they are available, I'd rather go with Josh Downs or Darnell Washington or maybe even Matthew Bergeron. I'd wait for 59 to take the DT. It's a pretty good draft at the position. -
I like him, too, but that is an awful pick.

Ah, well, my fault for assuming. I did not check the numbers. In that case, it's easily Zay Flowers. -

But part of that unknown is not, it's Hopkins. My concern is that if Oliver is part of the trade, maybe they feel compelled to take DT at 34. If you give me Josh Downs and Hopkins, I prefer that to Zay Flowers, but it's true you don't know who the pick at 34 would be. I'm actually okay with either option. -
Man, fella just can't get over the bad at football thing.

Your one, and only one, draft hot take?

Even with the midget arms, he's probably too good to pass up and you know they are targeting WR. I think it needs to be investment on offense if one is looking at comparable value, though Nolan Smith and Van Ness are tempting. -
Folks will lose their minds if this happens. He's got some Josh Allen vibes, but the Panthers almost certainly didn't have to trade up to take him.

I'd be really surprised if either is available at 27. I don't expect Zay Flowers to be there, either. So if the second trade option is up against the field minus those players, it's an easy choice for me. In this scenario, it's perplexing. Apparently we have till eight to make a selection, so I'm going to ponder it and see what more folks think. -
If this happens, you need to start thinking about the lottery before you go to sleep.

Well, Gunner Bill and @MrEpsYtown are the two fellas I generally turn to for guidance on oline. Neither is high on Torrance for the Bills. I would prefer to wait and pick up a fella like Bergeron or Avila a bit later if you are talking about a guard. Bergeron might have some capacity to play tackle. He was sound at the collegiate level, but some think he is a guard only in the pros.

Yes, but it was really just a joke. -
Would have been cooler if it was a magic carpet, though now I suspect you are a space alien and you only clarified that in a vain attempt to fit in. Or upon further reconsideration, you are Superman. It must be great to impress your dates with a trip to the Fortress of Solitude.

He does have a limited route tree and the Tennessee offense schemed him open in ways that won't happen in the pros. You're gambling on traits a fair bit, but they're good ones.

Not sure Lamar really knows how to throw to wide receivers. They'll have to tell him to pretend they are tight ends.
