  1. Uggh, not Peterman. Trade back is ideal, but greedy. If you risk it, how high are you on the fella in the first place?
  2. If they want one of the top four, I think they will have to trade up from #44. If you think there is a franchise qb, I wouldn't mess around; take the guy at #10.
  3. I have no idea. Bob McKenzie was on NBC Sports yesterday and he made it sound like he thinks it is fairly likely he returns. Giving a lot of weight to injuries throughout the year and seems to think there will be reluctance to change things up at both Buffalo franchises.
  4. Rodak tweeted that Whaley was there, just not in the photo. Some appear to think that Pegula could be taking part in an elaborate deception tactic. He doesn't seem like that kind of fella to me. I think they're interested.
  5. Yes, my surmise is more based on Pegula who seems a more straight-forward fella to me. I just don't think he would have showed up to enhance deception, though its possible.
  6. @mikerodak Doug Whaley made the trip to Chapel Hill to meet w/ Mitch Trubisky; he was not in UNC co-OC Gunter Brewer’s photo with Pegula, McDermott. Post #57 in this thread. Seems logical.
  7. Thanks fellas. The confidence of the opposing view had me worried. I didn't really think it through.
  8. Well, now that Yates is signed, many are assuming qb at #10 is off the table. Don't know what to make of it, but depressing if true.
  9. I was sitting in a little dorm room at UCLA with my roommate from Batavia when the Bills beat the Raiders 51 - 3 in the AFC Championship. We both sat there in stunned silence wondering if this was real life. I think I might feel a similar surprised happiness if we actually get a clue about qb.
  10. Encouraging. I really doubt this is a smokescreen or a tactic to trade down.
  11. Yes, I see. Along with John C., I appear to have a higher opinion of this year's qb draft class. Those who think they are mediocre, over-hyped second rounders will share your view.
  12. Sure thing qbs get taken first overall. If you're waiting for that, you're going to be waiting a long, long time.
  13. Zero chance Watson lasts until the third round. He will go in the first or early second.
  14. Yep. I like Watson as well. I saw a lot of Clemson games -- I live in the South and one of my buds is a Clemson fan -- Watson will trust his receivers to make a play and he rises to the occasion. Folks question his arm strength. I think its strong enough.
  15. Well, this is where I depart from many of my fellow Mahomes' supporters. I also love Watson and would be happy if he were the choice. Your rationale makes sense to me.
  16. My agreement with 1billsfan has more to do with Mahomes' potential upside. I do not have confidence that his floor is Dalton. I love EJ the person and held out hope for him much longer than most. Mahomes' personality does not seem timid in the least. If EJ had Mahomes' talent, he'd have developed into a good qb, imo -- not great, because like Taylor he is risk averse as a player. Drafting the qb position is perhaps the trickiest in sports and I do think there is a chance Mahomes could bust. There are many safer picks, but I believe we need to be more daring.
  17. I agree. I have developed a knee-jerk expectation that OBD is going to disappoint me is all.
  18. His initial post indicates that he thinks his floor is Dalton and his ceiling is Favre. If you think that, you are probably willing to spend a top ten pick on him. Consensus doesn't really matter, though I suspect a number of teams have a higher valuation on Mahomes than they are going to express in public. Getting it right matters. Mahomes is not without risk, but no-risk qbs go first overall. Folks will have different criteria on risk-reward. I roll the dice on the fella.
  19. I hope that someone else is named Mahomes, Watson, or Trubisky. It's probably Kizer.
  20. Well, I agree with you. I hope OBD is on the same page, but I doubt it.
  21. But not everyone is subject to video review by millions.
  22. I draft the qb. My order of preference: Mahomes, Watson, Trubisky. If you think one of the available qbs is a franchise qb, why wouldn't you draft them? It's the most important position in today's NFL. It doesn't matter how strong or weak the 2018 class is in that case. The people who are passing on the qb just don't think highly of any of them. This is not 2013 redux imo. Depth at DB means you can get a good one in the second round, no?
  23. That's what I meant by "the scrutiny is selective." I don't think he cares.
  24. I think there is a reasonable chance, despite what mock drafts are projecting, that all four top qbs get drafted in the first round. For the business as usual crowd, this is a great opportunity to trade back, get extra picks, and stack the defense. What we ought to do is choose the best qb on the board at #10, hopefully Mahomes.
