  1. I realize one would have to expend draft capital to acquire Luck, but he is the same age as Kirk Cousins. Some folks are fine with making a lucrative free agent offer for that fella. If you trust Bills' doctors -- I'm not sure I do, frankly -- and Luck checks out, you absolutely should consider trading for him.
  2. Any thoughts on Lamar Jackson? Is he Tyrod with a higher ceiling?
  3. When you're the Patriots and have established a winning reputation over the course of years, of course you can accept barely scraping by a bad team. When you haven't made the playoffs this millenium and you are a perennial bad to mediocre team, everyone is reading the tea leaves to see if there is a sign you have actually progressed to a good team. I personally don't think the wins are particularly impressive in retrospect. Further, you could make a plausible case that for whatever differences there might be between McD and Jauron, this is still largely a veteran team of overachievers who "bought in." That means one has a slight edge in the close games where veteran leadership might tilt the game your way. Who would you rather be right now, the Rams with a young signal caller that seems to have turned the corner towards franchise qb with young talent on both sides of the ball and a qb whisperer for head coach or this group of Bills? The former seems to me clearly a team on the rise. We might get there, but I think this team is a question mark. They need to hit on a lot of draft picks and infuse youth and more talent. Character and buying into the process needs the spice of a few superstars if you're going to be a consistent Super bowl contender.
  4. No offense, Heitz. You're a good poster . . .
  5. I agree. So, metaphorically the drones of corporate America are applauded for their groupthink and the fella who shows some deviation from easy consumer blandness is ostracized. Whenever I hear dilly dilly, I think someone is identifying themselves as an idiot.
  6. Yes, I would like to be overweight like that.
  7. Glenn for a high second or an older, disgruntled player? No bueno. We have enough draft picks the next two years to bring in plenty of talent. Stupid teams trade a good to very good LT for draft picks. Cordy's contract is reasonable and it will only get better over time as contract inflation at the position inevitably occurs. Re OP: ESPN is a mouthpiece for the Bristol Patriots*. I'm sure they think trading Glenn away is a trade that should happen.
  8. Well, if you identify Rosen, good luck getting SF, Cleveland, or the Giants to trade out. I wanted Watson and Mahomes last draft. Lots of folks looking at qb 2018 while the supposed quality has not lived up to expectations. Who do you like, btw, at this early date? Mayfield has some Drew Brees in him and Lamar Jackson might be Taylor with more upside, imo.
  9. The 2018 class seems to have regressed from expectations, hasn't it? Darnold may stay at USC. Rosen will probably go first overall. Cleveland, SF, and the Giants will probably all be looking at qb and none of them will trade out. You might be able to make a deal with Indy, assuming Luck comes back healthy, but that still might leave you the third and fourth best qb. At this point, I would consider moving up, but not the expensive ticket you are asking about. I am hoping Mayfield or Jackson is available late first.
  10. I'm an UGA fan, so I'm sorry he's gone.
  11. Plus one. I'm always happy for Tyrod to prove my pessimism wrong.
  12. Outstanding. Great team win. Still gunshy after all these years, but maybe we really are legit.
  13. As of this moment, I am hoping we find a way to get Mayfield.
  14. I am not sure about how the cap works with regards to MD's contract. My sense is that after 2018, we could get out from under with relative lack of pain. If so, all the savings calculating in 2019 - 2021 money is largely illusory. There must be some real savings that opens up flexibility going forward. My question is whether a deal could have been swung after the season, because the timing certainly does not help this season.
  15. Thanks for the heads up. Haven't paid attention at all.
  16. Really lazy not to see they are genuinely vulnerable this year.
  17. Yes, I agree. And so many terrible teams looking for qbs along with legacy teams with aging qbs. 49ers, Giants, Browns, Steelers, Cards, Jets should be qb buyers. Probably more, that's just off the top of my head. Colts are terrible, but unless they question Luck's long-term viability, they should be the trade target if you want to get ahead of the crowd.
  18. I find Brian Kelly immensely annoying, but they do look like a compelling team right now. I am an UGA fan, so I like that this makes the win at South Bend look more impressive.
  19. Everyone was telling me how great the 2018 qb class was going to be when I was repeatedly promoting Mahomes and Watson. Now, the 2018 class looks far less imposing and that is before the post-season scrutiny begins. Mayfield and Jackson both intrigue me, but neither is without question marks. I like them though. Darnold appears in a bit of a freefall. Still like Rosen. Rudolph benefits from a great wr corps. He had a bad game yesterday as far as I can tell (I don't claim to be an expert.)
  20. Don't listen to those fellas. I'll buy you an umbrella
  21. Really thought this team would be better. They are a major disappointment and one has to say, the TM critics appear to be proven right.
  22. Keep on preaching, John C. Hope Beane is listening, because if you don't fix the qb issue, you don't fix the team, no matter how much you hit on other positions.
  23. Well stated. That's what a true franchise qb does and if you want long-term success and a real chance to win super bowls, you need one.
