  1. I am an UGA fan, so Roquon at 12 would not displease me, but I think this draft is first and foremost all about the qb and I just don't think Rudolph is that good. If we take him, I will hope that I am wrong and root for him to do well. I prefer Mark Andrews at TE. DJ Chark and Equanimeous St. Brown are WRs I like.
  2. I don't see the reasoning here. Rosen and Mayfield are really the only fellas who could possibly start day one. You aren't drafting for day one; you're drafting for a franchise qb who might be leading your team for a decade or longer. You sign AJ because you don't want Peterman to be your primary backup, because AJ can conceivably start for a season or a substantial part of a season while the potential franchise guy develops. I'd be fine with Rosen or Mayfield, btw, but I am also fine with Darnold or Allen.
  3. Articulate expression of a defensible view. Too bad you feel it necessary to paint the opposing view as a bunch of irrational, whiny immediate gratification dopes. One can just as easily make a plausible argument that this is an unusually rich draft for potential franchise qbs and that one should grab one when one has the draft capital to do so. Considering it has been a quarter century since this team had a top-flight qb, surely it is not simply a sign of impatience to opt for the qb. Future drafts and FA will undoubtedly offer opportunities to find players at other positions, while franchise qbs rarely become available.
  4. Anger, of course, can be pathological, but it is the natural reaction to injustice.
  5. I like Allen. I think he will go early. If Darnold, Allen, and one of Rosen or Mayfield go in the top five and we still don't have a qb, you better move up to six or seven to secure the last of the top four. Unless you're okay taking Jackson or Rudolph later, I don't think you can wait till 9 or 10 and gamble a team like the Cards won't jump up ahead of you.
  6. Have you looked at Bandit's arguments for Allen? I think there's more positives there than you are seeing. I am not a Rudolph fan. I'd rather take Jackson at 22, but he might not fall that far. I absolutely would not take Rudolph before 22 and I won't be terribly happy if we do.
  7. I get a Philip Rivers vibe, which turns a lot of folks off, but I don't mind it.
  8. Some folks are under the impression you only looked at one game. I've yet to see a really compelling counter-argument to your points.
  9. Sorry, I don't recollect. I read somewhere else a family friend helped him get a spot on a team, but I don't know if that was Wyoming or the small college he started at.
  10. Some show one ESPN highlighting draft prospects indicated he e-mailed lots of Div 1 College coaches hoping to get an offer to play qb for them.
  11. Josh Allen sent e-mails to many college programs and never garnered any interest. Both he and Mayfield are the fellas with an edge and chip on their shoulders. Marry that to talent, and you can get good results. I like them both and think either would fit well with McD, though Allen will need more time to develop.
  12. Dorian O'Daniel is a fella I kinda like. Anyone have any notion what rounds this group is likely to go in?
  13. Hmm. I didn't know about the steamed cabbage . . .
  14. I heard he was just crazy about cribbage.
  15. Passion is equivocal. I think for the most part, Mayfield channels his into excellent performance on the football field. No qb in the draft is without some question marks. I think Mayfield has a higher floor than Allen, for instance, and a pretty high ceiling. I'd be happy taking him, though I would also be very pleased to get Allen who has the highest ceiling. I've become convinced he's more likely to reach it than I initially thought.
  16. And too many people look at a fella like Allen and instead of making a discerning judgment on the unique person, simply give one a litany of past failures: Kyle Boller, Jake Locker, EJ, etc. as if identifying a broadly construed "type" is sufficient to determine a future destiny.
  17. Paragraphs are your friend^^^^ and yes, I like Allen.
  18. Dear Lfod, Thanks, but I'm an inanimate, conceptual object and I can't read.
  19. I dunno, I feel like you are calling me a relic
  20. Don't see the Jets taking Allen. I think the owner and new GM in Cleveland may value Allen. I don't think Hue Jackson will determine that pick. Giants may reasonably think they are unlikely to be at 2 again any time soon and it is a good opportunity to draft Eli's eventual successor. If Elway sees himself in Allen, he may pull the trigger. Of course, this is all speculation.
  21. Still think the Browns might like him and are okay with Tyrod for a year or two. Giants might take him with Eli starting for a year or two. Broncos have Keesum who could start for a couple of years. It's all guesswork and he might fall, but I think his potential will induce a high pick from someone.
  22. Well, it's a gamble, but he won't be there late first, so you either overdraft because you think he isn't another Boller, Gabbert, etc. or you pass on him.
