  1. Passion is equivocal. I think for the most part, Mayfield channels his into excellent performance on the football field. No qb in the draft is without some question marks. I think Mayfield has a higher floor than Allen, for instance, and a pretty high ceiling. I'd be happy taking him, though I would also be very pleased to get Allen who has the highest ceiling. I've become convinced he's more likely to reach it than I initially thought.
  2. And too many people look at a fella like Allen and instead of making a discerning judgment on the unique person, simply give one a litany of past failures: Kyle Boller, Jake Locker, EJ, etc. as if identifying a broadly construed "type" is sufficient to determine a future destiny.
  3. Paragraphs are your friend^^^^ and yes, I like Allen.
  4. Dear Lfod, Thanks, but I'm an inanimate, conceptual object and I can't read.
  5. I dunno, I feel like you are calling me a relic
  6. Don't see the Jets taking Allen. I think the owner and new GM in Cleveland may value Allen. I don't think Hue Jackson will determine that pick. Giants may reasonably think they are unlikely to be at 2 again any time soon and it is a good opportunity to draft Eli's eventual successor. If Elway sees himself in Allen, he may pull the trigger. Of course, this is all speculation.
  7. Still think the Browns might like him and are okay with Tyrod for a year or two. Giants might take him with Eli starting for a year or two. Broncos have Keesum who could start for a couple of years. It's all guesswork and he might fall, but I think his potential will induce a high pick from someone.
  8. Well, it's a gamble, but he won't be there late first, so you either overdraft because you think he isn't another Boller, Gabbert, etc. or you pass on him.
  9. Just shush. No jinxes, please.
  10. Go look at Bandit's analysis on Allen. I think he has real potential to be very good, and I was not sold on him at the beginning.
  11. Bandit's analysis is strong, imo, and the Wunderlic score suggests he's smart enough to improve.
  12. I think they go Allen, but I'd be okay with either. I'm actually starting to like Allen more than I did.
  13. He might be, but the Browns could take him 1 overall; Giants could conceivably take him. I doubt he falls. You probably need to swing a deal for 2 to get him if Cleveland goes with Darnold.
  14. I'll go on record as disagreeing with OP. Does anybody care?
  15. I would be fine with this, but I don't think Rex has a clue.
  16. I think the relative odds here are about right. I suspect we can trade up to six or so, thus I think the odds of getting Mayfield are actually somewhat higher.
  17. If you're talking qb, those fellas are very rare and go first overall when available.
  18. Are we certain Broncos pass on qb? I think it likely, but not certain.
  19. I'm not either. Sure hope they are open to a trade.
  20. I like Allen. He's a risk, but part of my reticence on Allen was rumors I read that he was not a sharp cookie. 37 on the Wunderlic does not measure football IQ, but I surmise he is smart enough to learn from his mistakes. Trouble is, I think you have to trade up to 2 to get him and I have a feeling the Giants aren't trading out. Indeed, they may like Allen for themselves if they are inclined to take a qb and let him learn for a year or so. It's an outlier year for qb, so you better work a trade up if you don't want to take a flier on Jackson or Rudolph.
  21. You can probably get him at 22, but it's unwarranted hyperbole to characterize the desire for a franchise qb after 25 years of mediocrity or worse as hysteria.
  22. If they miss out on one of the top four, this draft is a fail.
