  1. Thanks, I couldn't find much on him, and was curious.
  2. Have you taken a look at Jalen Coker out of Holy Cross by any chance?
  3. I think Nabers is an exceptional talent. He might go before MHJ. But this year's first and second, and a fourth, and next year's first and third? That is simply an impossible price to pay. (Just citing the cost speculated by the fella you are responding to.) If you think Thomas is going to grow into WR1, you could try and pay the price to move up to #16. Anything more expensive is reckless and irresponsible.
  4. Right, my main objection was not so much DT, which honestly I would object to on its own, but trading up to take a DT.
  5. Worthy is not the fella I want, but I'd hate to see him go to the Chiefs or an AFC East team. If I hate that idea, he must be pretty good. My preference is a big X type, and if not, I am partial to McConkey, who I think is going to be really good, but I am also biased in that assessment. If they go with Worthy, I will be excited to see him stretch the field, and thinking we still better get a big X early day 3.
  6. I didn't get the impression you were lobbying for him. I think there's a fair chance he could be the selection.
  7. If Beane moves up to take a DT, a whole lot of folks are going to be rightly irate.
  8. Well, first the other fella has to sign a consent form.
  9. I just don't see a first round talent there, but he has traits. If Beane goes that way, he better be prepared to trade up from #60 to grab a WR, because there's going to be a run on the position early to mid-second round. How unhappy I would be with that scenario is dependent on who Beane passed on at #28 to select Chop, and who he ultimately takes at WR. I actually have greater confidence in Cooper Dejean or Newton and Murphy being good NFL players, if you are just looking at late first players on D. As I said, I'm not sold on the edge players in this draft. You could make an argument for Latu, if he falls that far.
  10. This is all true, I think, but I also believe that if Beane does a reasonable job in the draft, and adds a few dust settles post-draft FAs once Tre's 6/1 money kicks in, the team should be very competitive. RB, S, OL, DT, all that can credibly be improved in the draft. It's also a pretty good draft at CB, so you could find some depth mid-rounds. I don't think edge is likely to be improved much, and if they reach, it's a bad sign, imo. WR early is the big ticket item for a lot of us, and I sure hope Beane prioritizes a playmaker there. Then you just have to hope Brady is up to the job, and Josh thrives with him as OC.
  11. In college, at least, McConkey lined up on the outside 70% of the time. You can speculate he can't pull that off in the pros, but on the basis of his tape, he's not primarily a slot.
  12. I'm an UGA fan. Ladd McConkey is my favorite player in the draft, though I pretty much think a lot of UGA players in this draft are going to be good. But he's not the X I have imagined as a target. All the same, I'm buying his jersey if he's the pick.
  13. I agree he is the better player. The only way I would be okay with it is if we tried to trade up for Thomas and failed, tried to trade up for Mitchell and failed, and did not have a sufficiently high grade on Legette to take him at #28, and then could not trade back into the early second. I would probably just take Legette, if it came to that. But in a vacuum, Newton at #28 would be a steal.
  14. You're tilting the field. White was playing better. It's sad, but we did not have his services for much of the season. Poyer and Hyde were at the level of wily veterans. They were not pro bowl caliber players, particularly. Edwards, now, is probably their equal. He's certainly not a huge drop-off from the players who had slowed down. We resigned Epenesa and Jones, who were the two best players that we could have potentially lost on the DL. You can argue Floyd, but he is also older, and dropped off the second half of the season. None of this means we don't need an infusion of talent at S and along the DL. I think they expect Dorian Williams to play a bigger role next year. They may throw a later pick at LB. I like Liufau, the Notre Dame LB. I don't like the DE position in this draft. I especially don't like either of the Robinsons who are touted as first round picks. They're not. It's because of the lack of quality at the position that their value is inflated. It would be a mistake to choose them for that reason, or because it is a position of need. I'd rather take someone like Cedric Johnson on day 3, and some late round flyers. It just isn't a good draft to try and upgrade there. And the WR room does need more talent. Josh Allen has not been served well by the roster construction under Beane, who has not given sufficient weight to the position, though he's attempting to redress that. It's a great draft at WR, and it would be irresponsible not to get one early, and one later on. The X is not on this team yet, and you can't count on anything beyond 2024 with Diggs. If there is a potential WR2 with room to develop into a WR1 that is reachable at #28 or a modest trade up or back, that absolutely should be the priority. You can fill out the roster with the rest of the draft.
  15. I'd definitely be on-board with that. Nice job. I sorta gamed the system on this one. I kept trading back, because I knew Legette is available late second. 16. No, you're right, of course. I was just poking fun.
  17. Dude, it's posts like this that make me feel sorry for Warriorspikes51. You're very rational, but there's just no magic in your soul.
  18. Don't know what you paid to get up to #9, but I'll take it.
  19. They did draft Kincaid last year. And they cut a lot of veteran locker room guys with a necessary ruthlessness. That might be too strong a word, but I am hoping it signals the possibility for change. They've also been meeting with a lot of top WR candidates for the draft. Maybe it's more of the same, and I'll be unhappy about it -- maybe not as angry as you, I dunno. Right now, I'm going to believe that Beane may be shifting course, partly because I don't relish despair and anger, and I don't feel utterly compelled to take as inevitability the choice many of us nonetheless fear is all too possible.
  20. I can only say I hope Beane is not metaphysically tied to the Carolina model. He should see it isn't sufficient, and it sure didn't age well for Cam.
  21. Is that a function of evaluation, or the attempt to build a team with depth, or both? I think they are too risk averse, but where to draw the line and avoid crazy gambling might not be easy, and they got stung with the Von Miller shot. I hope it doesn't stop them from being open to creative ways to get that higher caliber athlete, whether that be WR (my preference) or DL. And yes, I wouldn't rule out OL.
  22. I don't know anything about him, but Cornelius Johnson, the Michigan WR is the fella I'd like to pick up late.
