    Jack London, Buffalo factoid: He was arrested for vagrancy in Buffalo and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. (the jail was in the Black Rock area) London claimed afterward that it was his imprisonment in Buffalo and his witnessing of prisoner abuse that had made him a Socialist.

    I agree that Wright dug himself a hole, but it is his hole, not Obama's. As someone that has lived in Chicago, I know personally, that Wright's church, (that he expanded greatly), has provided an incredible array of much needed services to people in the community. I also know that from listening to them, that "his original" controversial remarks were taken out of context. Adding to his good works in the community, knowing that his served for many years in The Marine Corps, I was quick to defend him. His recent remarks were pathetic, egomanical and shows that he is just too much of a narcissist to know when to shut up. It had to be difficult for Obama to "distance himself" from Wright. But actually I don't see it as distancing as much as Obama being abandonded by a father yet again.

    No offense to Whitner, but I really would not have any interest in having dinner with him. That got me thinking, If you could have dinner with one Buffalo past or present player or coach, etc. who would it be? For me that would be Bill Polian. I'd love to hear his perspective on building the Bills into a powerhouse and then his later work building the Panthers and Colts. It would also be interesting to hear his "honest" and "uncensored" view of our current franchise, from owner, to staff to players.

    Yikes, your scaring me that your still stuck on that. It must be important for you to belive that Hamas and Obama are connected. It seems strange to me, that you don't even seem slightly bothered by the remarks of a minister that supports McCain strongly.

    Pete you listed a reading list to help one be "truly educated" it reminded me of this poem: WHO IS EDUCATED? A professor in Chicago is reported to have given the following test to his pupils. He told them they were not really educated unless they could say Yes to the following questions: Has your education given you sympathy with all good causes and made you espouse them? Has it made you public-spirited? Has it made you a brother to the weak? Have you learned how to make friends and keep them? Do you know what it is to be a friend to yourself? Can you look at an honest man or pure woman straight in the eye? Do you see anything to love in a little child? Will a lonely dog follow you down the street? Can you be high-minded and happy in the meaner drudgeries of life? Do you think washing dishes and hoeing corn just as compatible with high thinking as piano playing and golf? Are you good for anything to yourself? Can you be happy alone? Can you look out in the world and see anything but dollars and cents? Can you look into a mud puddle by the wayside and see anything in the puddle but mud? Can you look into the sky at night and see beyond the stars? Can your soul claim a relationship with the Creator?
