  1. It was a great day for the Bills and all of us fans and we certainly still have holes to fill but I'm starting to agree with Buddy Nix that we should be done in free agency and here's why, signing Mario Williams is a culture changing move as everyone rightfully says but the Bills put themselves in position to sign Mario because they were smart with their cap space the last couple of years i.e. not wasting money on the likes of Langston Walker, Derrick Dockery type players of years past but sticking to a plan. I see the who should we add next talk and while I would've been ok with Meachem and want(ed) Manningham. I'd rather the Bills save some remaining cap space for FJ, Byrd, Wood and Levitre and "keep our own" especially at the rate wr's are signing for this offseason, Stevie was a bargain who would have got much more on open market and SD can have Meachem at the price they paid. I just think signing Doucet or Manningham would be like wasting money on ok player when we could use that money for our guys. We can draft a wr early to mid rounds to fit our need and work on keeping our young core in tact.
  2. I admire Fitz for the job he's done but I feel like he's a microcosm of the team, he's a fighter, you want to root for him but he just doesn't have enough talent. I like his moxie but he's not good enough to be a starter on a good team and isn't that what we hope to one day be? Someone needs to tell him Roscoe Parrish is 5'9 at best, and throws balls to him like he's 6'3. How many times has he hit a WR in stride in his number? They always have to reach high or low for the ball. The screen passes are atrocious, how many balls has he one-hopped? And he's always been good for a crucial interception since before he got to the Bills. Don't get me wrong the team is better now than they were with Edwards no question but people are getting excited about average quarter back play (hard to blame you its been awhile for even average play) Please don't site quarter back rating stats after a handful of games, JP finished in the top ten in rating one year he's out of the league. Trent was floated as an MVP candidate by Peter King (blowhard)and other national outlets and no one wants him back. As Raheem Morris says stats are for losers show me the W.I like Fitz but he's a back up and no more, hey there is nothing wrong with being Frank Reich.
  3. Just because the Bills have "their man" doesn't mean "their man" will take the job. They can and probably are trying like hell to get their guy but they need a backup plan in the likelyhood their guy doesn't take it. I also find it hard to believe that any assistant would turn down the chance to interview for a job said assistant felt he had a shot at really getting even if you really don't want the job. I would think it's best to go on as many interviews as you can. It's not like you get a chance to be a head coah every year and if you "blew away" a team in your interview and somehow don't get that job maybe future teams take note of that. I'm curious as to think why B Schotty really won't interview even if he is truly happy with the Jets, you'd think all the reasons above plus the fact that Nix and Marty are supposedly tight that Brian would atleast give an interview unless he feels he has no real shot at the job.
  4. I'm an avid reader but infrequent poster here at TBD. Most of the time I read posts where my thoughts have already been stated, so there's no need to repost or sometimes threads and posts are so comical that a response just isn't warranted. With that being said, I wanted to offer my thoughts on our coaching situation. I have no sources or reliable information but I believe the Bills have done everything they possible can to get Bill Cowher. Based on statements from people who "hate" us (Mort, Schefter, Clayton) and people who love us Kelly, Thurman, Coach Sal, Joe Logan? They have all said money is not the issue. People with knowledge of the search say Brandon and Ralph both were at the "stealth" meeting with Cowher. I mention that because as far as I know no other candidate has met with Wilson himself which Nix said they would do with the finalists. I think he has the offer and knows what he wants to do. After all Lombardi said the Bills have their guy in mind. I just wish Cowher would man up like Shanahan and say definitively whether or not he wants the job and not leave us with our a$$ hanging in the wind. I don't think Cowher wants to coach here and if that's the case I don't want him<-----(you can gladly rub this in my face if Cowher does and I'll admit I was wrong.) I also don't understand the few people with animosity toward the other candidates or the ABC's (Anyone But Cowher) It's like the Bills front office is pilloried for even mentioning the likes of Frasier, B Schotty, Rivera or any other coordinator as the Bills just being their usual selves. People threatening to quit being a Bills fan if an ABC is hired. If Cowher isn't the guy someone has to coach us. I'd be ok with any of them though I want Harbough if Cowher doesn't come. I loathe Billick but I wouldn't stop being a Bills fan if he's ultimately the guy I'd have to learn to like him. I know he won a SB but I feel much like Trent Dilfer, Billick just had to not screw it up and let that D win the games. He didn't really establish any offensive identity and I feel like almost anyone could've won with that D. I lump Billick in the same category as Switzer, lucky. I have a feeling the candidate that told Peter King the Bills offseason moves sucked (paraphrasing) was Russ Grimm. I hope I'm wrong because I wouldn't mind if he was hired but I just have a feeling it was him. All I know for sure is someone will coach the Bills in 2010 and I'll be the biggest fan of whomever that will be because that guy will actually want to be here. If you made it this far thanks for reading. I'm prepared to be flamed and ripped apart for telling you all what we already knew but I wanted to post it anyway......Go Bills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I see we posted this topic at the exact same time. Good to see someone else on this too...Let's go BILLS!!!!
  6. The 4:00 pm game October 5th on WRGB is Cincinnati at Dallas. Are you kidding ####ing kidding me? Let's see if we can shame the station manager again. It's doubtful they'll do it twice for us but I'm going to send the e-mail and give them a call...Let's go Bills!!!!
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3380976 ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins second-round draft pick Fred Davis did not show up for minicamp practice Sunday, prompting the team to send security officials to find the tight end. "Everybody was scouring," coach Jim Zorn said after practice. "Nobody heard from him, so there was one of two scenarios. Either there was some real trouble and we needed to find him, or he screwed up. I haven't even got to talk to him yet. I know he has been found. I believe it is more in the 'I screwed up' category." The team was expected to give more details on Davis' absence later Sunday. Davis was the 48th overall pick out of Southern California in last weekend's draft. He and the other rookies were staying in a local hotel during the three-day minicamp that ended Sunday.
  8. Is was supposed to say I hope they make the team even more now but I guess it got cut off. Either that or I'm retarded, could be both
  9. They aren't on the field highlight videos but still worth a look http://beastmodeblog.wordpress.com/2008/04...cters-on-day-2/
  10. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writ...ex.html?eref=T1 4. The Bills are a team to watch in 2008 Buffalo has been quiet but productive in the offseason. They made a trade adding Marcus Stroud to their defensive front, giving them some much needed size to their defense. They signed a versatile linebacker in Kawika Mitchell from the Giants. And now, with the draft, they added top cornerback Leodis McKelvin, who will also help out in the return game, and big wide receiver James Hardy, who will complement speedsters Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish. But what really makes the Bills' potential off the charts is the return of linebacker Paul Posluszny, among others, to the 53-man roster. Posluszny, a first-round pick in 2007, joined 11 other Bills last year on injured reserve. The Bills weren't all that far off last season, finishing 7-9 but playing hard in every game. You better believe the Patriots are paying attention. The Bills are healthy, they have added size to their defense and they keep adding players who impact the kicking game. With all the attention being paid to the Miami Dolphins' new regime and the Jets' spending in free agency, I think the Bills have flown under the hype radar in the AFC East and are in position to challenge for a playoff spot in 2008.
