  1. Make that 2 cents. We are all different and react to things in different ways, but your description of being a fan is all encompassing imo.
  2. I'm not so sure it works as you describe. From what I see, fans give extra room to first rounders in order to not face the ugly fact that one of them is a bust. Players such as Whitner and McKelvin were given a lot of slack by fans in terms of their performance vs. their draft slots. Then again, there were others (McCargo, Flowers, and Maybin) who never produced anything at all, ever. The good news is that I totally expect Dareus to finally break this alarming trend.
  3. This is a great post, and I admire your way of thinking. Many of us (myself included) probably get into the Bills a little too much. This explains the despair when they repeat the same moves that put the team in this bind that it is in. But as bad as they are, I look forward to every draft and every season. Even this one.
  4. This is spot on and few if any posters are addressing this. A strong case could be made that either Mr. Wilson or the useless schmuck Brandon was behind this idiotic draft selection from day 1. And make no mistake.....sooner or later, Spiller will make a long, breakaway run that will have fans drooling, and thinking that he was a good pick. Despite his total lack of production, one can clearly see how people continue to assert that he was a sound draft choice. He wasn't, and this notion will change. It always does. At this point, what we do have is a shrimp who cannot gain yards on the groud, is a so-so receiver, and cannot block for s*&t. And now he is causing dissension. What a freaking mess.
  5. Do you think Gailey is getting pressure from above to start Spiller?
  6. Mr. Wilson is extremely intelligent. Levy is a fan favorite. To many he is the face of the franchise. It is even bad form on this board to not praise him. Bringing in Levy made Mr. Wilson a lot of money. He was surely paid less than most GMs. The fans were happy and bought tickets, beer, etc. The rest is history. Levy and the rest of the clowns took the Bills down the tubes, but Mr. Wilson was filling his pockets while putting forth a poor product. Mr. Wilson is anything but unintelligent.
  7. Absolutelty true. However, I continue to stress the damage that Levy did to this franchise. Here was a man who wanted to be a coach. Nobody wanted him except Mr. Wilson, who made him GM. He in turn hired a head coach who nobody wanted, but shared his idiotic football philosophy. You are right John in terms of your assertion that this ultimately falls upon Mr. Wilson. It has to. But I make the case that virtually anyone connected in any way to the NFL would have done less damage to this team than did Marv. I am not that impressed by Nix, but at least he has (or seems to have) a hint of a clue. But even at that, I offer you CJ Spiller at #9, and Aaron Williams with the 2nd pick in round 2 with a slew of trade down offers. To make a long story short, as the story unfolds, Nix will probably wind up being a nightmare in terms of being a competent GM. But, he is a breath of fresh air compared to Marv, and the other idiot who is Russ Brandon. PS: As your opinion of Spiller changes, do keep me posted.
  8. You don't want an average cornerback at #11. Especially on a team that needed huge help on both lines. In this sense, McKelvin is an absolute bust.
  9. I don't trust listed weights. Do you? Bell imo does not look like an NFL LT in terms of his frame. He could barely budge 225 at the combines. This is why an agile kid like him lasted until round 7. Jason Peters has more strength pushing people away with his arms than Bell has when running into someone. Bell, agility notwithstanding, will probably always be hampered by his physical limitations which are real. This is why he is consistently banged up. In the long run, he will probably prove to be not strong enough to compete at this level, although I must admit that he would make a decent backup LT imo. Dick Levy killed this team by drafting DBs and RBs with our best resources. Nix isn't quite as bad, but he went the same direction in terms of Spiller and Aaron Williams. I wanted to be happy about Nix, but he is proving to be just another old, inept hire. That said, I do think that Gailey is 100x better than Jauron (sorry C Biscuit).
  10. Levitre is average sized at best. Bell is small and weak. Yes. McKelvin is an absolute bust for a #11. Seriously, what would even raise this question. Do you have any doubt at all that he is a bust, and a stupid draft selection?
  11. Oh yeah, Spiller was going to make our OL better. And people actually believed this.
  12. LOL read my post above!
  13. Thanks. Personally I am glad to see him sit it out. He doesn't need to get any better than what I saw against the Bears.
  14. How about Merriman?
  15. You very possibly could be right. But if so, imo this points out the stupidity of this selection both in terms of winning football games, and getting value at #9.
  16. I am out of the loop. Merriman is out? I would have liked to see him even come close to what he showed in game 1. He was just that good. If he plays at anywhere near that level he will instantly become the best player on the team. This aside, I would like to of course see Dareus continue to make progress and NOT get hurt. After that, I am hoping that Batten proves again that he is a legit pass rusher. On offense, I hope that Chandler justifies Nix in terms of not going after Kevin Boss, which imo was a very dumb move. But, what do I know? After all, I am not working for the Bills.
  17. Running backs tend to have the quickest adjustments. This is why, unless a player is a superstar, you don't want to waste a #9 on a running back, let alone a gadget player. Trust me, if Spiller was selected in round 6 (which was about right for his production), he wouldn't have a 3 year window.
  18. You and I go back a while. Have I EVER made the case that Mr. Wilson is a competent owner in terms of winning football games? Call me a conspiracy theorist if you will, but I believe that the commissioner wanted no part of Vick in Buffalo and that sucks. This was coming from the man who held the cards in terms of his re-instatement. The entire scenario lends itself to being unfair to this really wonderful fanbase.
  19. This post makes total sense. Not only that, Vick, like no other, could have prevailed over the weakness of our long term, pathetic offensive line. Fitz is actually a bandaid over these stiffs. Vick, in terms of mobility, is in a class alone. I agree 100% in terms of taking chances. Not drafting Mallett was an example of this. They had nothing to lose, and a chance to gain a quarterback with almost unlimited potential. Nix could have actually drafted Mallet on a trade down and got him AND another pick. My prediction? Ralph will sue, win, and make a ton of money. I am not a Ralph basher; I respect the man. And he forgot more than every person on this board combined will ever know about making cash. Overall, seeing the Bills and their great fans get screwed like this sickens me. We have enough problems. GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. I suppose he will, but it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't reach 1,500 on the ground in his entire career. He will be given more time because he was an early pick ala McCargo so this will certainly help. He also might turn out to be a very good back, although I saw no flashes of it last season. Time will tell.
  21. Here is another wrinkle...... http://www.drafthistory.com/years/2011.html In round 2 of this draft, we selected a corner at #2. Nix said that he had numerous trade down offers in every round. Defensive backs were selected at #18 and #28. Offensive Tackles were taken at 14, 17, and 31. Pitt and Indy each took one by the way. My point? How much did they have to love Williams? It seems like they could have addressed OT AND CB in round 2 with a trade down. I hope that Williams can live up to all of this.
  22. There could be any reason for this. Who knows, he could have mouthed off to the coaches, etc. None of us know what caused this rather odd move. And btw, I stick to my contntion that he is our most solid blocker, as scary as this may be.
  23. OK....we are doing so well going this route that I will change my outlook.
  24. Maybe others can sense hostility Scott. I personally do, and wish I knew how to alleviate it.
