  1. I want to thank you for taking this courageous stand. Trust me, I know that it can be rough going against the grain here, but I appreciate the honest, and in your case intellectual dialogue. For the record, I am a bit less concerned than you. Imo if we are going to miss, let's miss on a qb, or even a perhaps nutty linebacker. We have ben striking out and losing games by allocating our best resources to defensive backs and yes, running backs. Even when these guys are "good," we lose, and many fans just don't get this. Keep the posts coming!!!
  2. 1995 was good and would have been great had not Covington and Kerner got injured.
  3. While Byrd might not have been the primary factor wrt this selection, he HAD to enter into the equation imo. Levitre was only guaranteed 10 million or so by his new team iirc, and they let him walk. Byrd will make close to 7 mil. this season. The bar has been set. How much will, or should the Bills pay him? Neither of us really know, but my guess is that Byrd is gone next season. A huge portion of our cap space will be tied up with Mario and Fitz. Jmo.
  4. 1) Barrett Jones - OC 2) Michael Williams - TE 3) Nico Johnson - ILB The above are very good players at positions of need for the Bills. Jones has played LT and Guard as well. Williams is a huge target who doesn't have the numbers because he was surrounded by superstars. Nico is great against the run, and could provide immediate help imo.
  5. I don't watch wideouts that much but for what very little it is worth, he was my favorite wideout in tis draft. I am shocked that he fell to us.
  6. Michael Williams from Alabama is a monster. He doesn't have high numbers because they run a lot and everyone on the team is great. He would be a steal!
  7. LOL, now I am going to disagree with you just a tad. Levitre was not big but he had the agility of a LT, the position he played in college. He was suited for this league, and we should have kept him.
  8. Thanks for the kind words. And don't think that i will ever forget the help that you gave me in terms of picking a place for my daughter to live while attending law school. You are one of the people who make this place more than just a message board.
  9. The Bills OL is not terrible. The loss of Levitre must be addressed, but it still isn't terrible. You and I remember what terrible is.
  10. I take credit for #2, and I am here to admit it. But there are reasons why I (and others) felt this way. After we drafted Spiller, Mr. Wilson was quoted as saying that the team needed "excitement." To me, excitement is winning football games. In any event, Bills Fans are worn out from the endless parade of useless first round draft picks, in terms of building a winning team. It was different this time. I don't have a clue as to whether or not EJ can play well at the NFL level. Absolutely no idea. What I DO know is that if we must miss, let's miss while trying to get a legit starting QB. AND, the fact that whe added more picks is icing on the cake imo. I hope that the Bills do not waste the second rounders. History tells us that they do more often than not. But moves like last night are what it takes to build a winning team. It was time to end the seemingly endless parade of running backs and defensive backs. So although EJ was not my choice, put me on record as supporting this move, and I will be rooting with all I have for him to play well. Bills Fans deserve a break.
  11. WOW!!!!! Are you starting to come around to my way of thinking lol? Great post!!!!!
  12. And he would be correct. I would ALMOST prefer that they draft a corner.
  13. So were the numbers when they measured his height.
  14. I wouldn't be so sure. The fans despise Sanchez, who probably will not last the season as a starter. As as you saw from the Tebow debacle, they make moves to stir fan interest.
  15. Dave, this is not a bad thing. The example that I like to use is Matt Schuab. If the Bills could draft a qb who is, or can develop into someone as good as him, they would be MILES ahead of where they are now. He would have won them an extra game or 2, despite our other gaping holes such as linebacker. And btw, I am not trying to say that Schaub is an elite QB because he isn't. But he, unlike Fitz, Holcombe, Rob Johnson, and most of all Losman, is a legit starter in this league, and a player who can beat you. If the Bills could find a QB equal to Schaub at #8, it would be a steal. And btw, I know that Schaub wasn't a #8. In fact, he was a 3rd round pick (#90). This means nothing to me. Bryce Paup was a 6th rounder. So was Brady. They obviously should have been taken in round 1 (yes, total hindsight). But do you see my point? The Bills can not, and will not be competitive without a real quarterback. Given the rule changes, it isn't possible. You and I go way back as posters. You know that I was dragged kicking and screaming into the above mentality. But it's tough to argue with. P.S.: Schaub was arond before the rule changes, so he has taken more of a pounding than these kids are likely to receive. QBs such as him, and Chris Chandler would have been injured less under these conditions. http://www.pro-footb.../C/ChanCh00.htm
  16. The OP is the first thing that I have read (not that I haven't missed things) that links Nassib to any specific team other than the Bills. Even the reporters, etc. that are high on Nassib don't seem to be mentioning teams with an interest. Alex Marvez said this on Sirius. While anything is possible, it's hard for me to picture the Bills passing on him at 8. Aside from the ticket selling aspect, there are other factors. Do you know that in 2006, the Saints drafted Marques Colston in the 7th round. He attended Hofstra, which was the Jets practice field. It was hard for them to justify not knowing how good he was. Marrone coached Nassib. If they pass on him and he turns out to be good, how will Brandon, Marrone, and the Syracuse/Bills OC look? Some think that the above doesn't mean much. I think that it does.
  17. I disagree. Marrone is a person from Syracuse that Brandon is involved with. He hired him and his OC, and who knows who else he will bring in from this not so great program? Look at the number of posts in the Barkley thread and compare the numbers in the Nassib thread. Regional faves can sell tickets. I think that TG's article makes sense.
  18. Well, who hired Marrone, his Syracuse crony? If what Gordio posts is true (and this would not surprise me), I wonder who will win this battle lol!
  19. Tough call, but the Jets select DJ Fluker, from the National Champion University of Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team.
  20. Smart move, and I can see where you are going.
  21. Sure, I'll happily concede this. But again, he cost 30 million dollars. I'll leave it to you to tell us if drafting him was a smart move. Also, I cannot stress enough that when rating a draft, it's not just about getting a "good" player. It's about how he helps your team win, and the players that you passed on.
  22. Now this is shocking news!!!!!
  23. How long did Whitner set us back for? He cost 30 million in real dollars and cap room, and never won us a game. How about Mike Williams? Because of taking him over McKinnie, the Bills had to wait for Jason Peters for a good LT. Maybin? You see my point....any bad early draft choice cripples a team. Personally, if they have to miss I would rather miss on a quarterback.
