D. Milliner then Nasib?
Bill from NYC replied to machine gun kelly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Will it never end? The worst thing that the Bills can do is waste yet another top draft selection on another fefensive back (or of course running back). Look at Tampa Bay. There is a reason that they are bad. They seem about to devote more than 10% of their cap space to a corner. To the jets credit, they are trying to dump Revis, his holdout threats, his injury, and his ridiculous salary. Teams play 4 and 5 wide sets these days. A corner, no matter who he is, can only cover 1 wideout. I think that the days of wasting money and high draft resources are coming to a grinding halt. Hopefully, the Bills are not stupid enough to repeat the same mistake that has played a HUGE role in the team losing just so many football games. But you never know. -
Not that he has inside info, but a friend who is a Viking Fan told me that the Vikes are rumored to be offering the #23 and #25 to get to #11 and take a receiver. I think that the OP should give it one more try.

My heart? Barkley. He head? Nassib. It is interesting that in terms of Sirius and draft articles, I haven't heard or seen Nassib linked to any other team, so I am really pretty sure that he will be there at 8.

PFC: 5 Reasons the Bills Should Draft Barkley
Bill from NYC replied to billsfan905's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From what little I have seen of Barkley, he looked like a much better passer in 2011 than he did last season. That said, if he is healthy I would be happy if the Bills draft him. -
Hypothetical Draft Question
Bill from NYC replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps. I was simply looking to see how Bills Fans feel about those making the decisions for this team. But on another note, who is really the fool? Me, for posting this? Or a rude, boring, pompous ass like you for responding to it when you think it's so far beneath you? -
Suppose Barley and Nassib are available at #8, and Brandon/Nix think that Barkley is slightly better (perhaps 1 win per season). They also think that Nassib would generate considerably higher ticket sales for obvious reasons. My question is, which one do you think they would select?

I'll take the Jets.

Hello, and welcome to my world. What I will add is that for every Whitner, A.Williams, Gilmore, etc. the Bills have wasted a draft pick on, it is important to look at the blockers, pass rushers, and of course QBs that they passed on. The list is staggering. The only time it wasn't that bad was when the took Clements, because they traded down and got an extra 2nd round pick. Even at that, they passed on Steve Hutchinson, a future hall of famer, when they desperately needed a guard.

Jairus Byrd--think he'll be traded?
Bill from NYC replied to JTO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If any team is stupid enough to give us a first round pick for Byrd, the Bills would be insane not to jump all over it. -
The new tone at OBD: What they're saying
Bill from NYC replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Parcells WAS great. I once heard him say how much easier it was to find a wide receiver in the draft than it was to find a good guard. I do wonder how he would apply this train of thought today given the rule changes. The Bills eally could use a man like Parcells to oversee things in lieu of a lackey like Brandon. -
Drafting Milliner, as much as I like him as a player (he is way better than Gilmore) would not be an admission of anything. It would be a mere continuation of stupidity. If they draft Milliner, and he is as good as I think he is, it would still probably not result in more wins. This is a qb driven league, and we do not have a good qb. Gone are the days of Jack Tatum taking a receivers head off over the middle. Now, there are even rules which will hurt power running backs. So, the Bills need a QB to even compete, let alone to sell tickets. This board can be telling at times. Look at the number of posts in the Nassib thread. And, look at the positive reaction towards Marrone, a coach who took an irrelevant team to a so-so record. These guys will sell tickets until they suck, which sadly, might not take long. I for one hope that the Bills take a new direction. They need to keep up with the times, and stop wasting picks on RBs and DBs. If they do not, they will continue to lose game after game. Aside from that, I hope that Brandon can, or even wants to make decisions which will result in winning football games, and that his moves are not driven by profit for Mr. Wilson, let alone incompetence, which he has already displayed time and again.

It was a good article SJB. I am just having fun. I do have a question for you: If your life depended on it, who do you think that the Bills will draft in round 1? Not who you want them to draft mind you, who you THINK they will draft. As for me, I have 2 predictions: Nassib or Milliner, And I am am leaning way more towards Nassib. If I was making the call, I would take Barkley if he is there. Maybe he can be in a class with Matt Ryan, I don't know. But imo he will be gone when we select.

Ryan Nassib - QB - Syracuse
Bill from NYC replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Look at the interest this post has generated. Ticket sales? Nassib will be selected at #8. I hope they don't trade up to draft him. -
Less than 2 weeks till the draft, your pick at #8
Bill from NYC replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills beed more picks. If they can trade down and get at least another second, it could work. In this scenario, the could select Fluker or Warmack, and draft Bray (hopefully) in round 2. They also need LBs and a TE. But if Barkley is there and they select him at 8, you won't hear any complaints from me. -
Yep. And if we don't, I hope that Brandon is fired. In fact, I hope that he gets fired today.
-
That's about right, no?
-
And the wins keep piling up, right Promo? He was a great pick. Everything the Bills Org. does is great, right?
-
I would. When push comes to shove, someone (in front of us) is going to grab Barkley. I already told you what will happen with us.
-
Winning games is also fun.
-
Only an extra 3rd for 8 spots? NO WAY is that enough.

John, thanks for this info. I assure you that I did not know about this. Football and the NFL is a learning process for people like us who, in all honesty, have to much invested in it. That said, I will tell you what I see in Fluker..... I watched Mike Williams at RT. He was a 350-400 pound monster in college. He did mega reps with 225 at the combines. Did he set a record? My point is that he was so big and so strong that he would actually absorb defenders in college. In the NFL, he was playing against pros who were fast. It didn't work. Fluker plays football. He has good feet and he will improve in the NFL (imo). Thanks Bro. However I must admit, his response DID make me laugh. Also, do remember (as you stated) that we are all floating possibilities here. I would like Fluker IF the Bills traded down, AND they could still get a qb who they liked in round 2 . That said, if they like a qb enough to take him at #8, you won't hear any complaints from me (unless the qb is Nassib).

My worst meltdown was the 2006 draft. Taking Whitner sent me over the edge. The A. Williams selection was the most angry I have been since then. Now, I expect idiocy. Sad but true. Fluker is stronger, in better condition, and a MUCH harder worker. The kid can take over a game. Spiller, your favorite lol, would have literal truck sized holes on the right side. John, please watch tape if any exists and you tell me.

I am NOT an advocate of this type of draft philosophy. Some positions (obviously QB) mean much more than others. If the Bills think that there is a qb in this draft who can develop into a top 10 qb, they should grab him at #8.. Kolb hopefully will provide a window of time to do this. The above said, DJ Fluker, imho, will be the best RT since Erik Williams. Yes, I said this. I have never, ever seen a RT coming out of college who looks as good as this kid. People on Sirius say he can play LT but ino that would be dumb. The kid is a monster RT. I like Warmack a ton at guard, but Fluker is just an insane RT. Btw, I think more of Pears than the average Bills Fan. He can play, and is especially good (when healthy) on running plays. I know that RT isn't a position of need on the Bills. I get it. But a draft in rounds 1 and 2 of Fluker/Bray would work for me. AND, they could probably trade down and do this.
