[Please Change Title]Penn state
Bill from NYC replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clemson looks good. They played well in the game last year so they think they can win. There is a plus! The line opened with The University of Alabama Crimson Tide at minus 6 1/2. I thought it would be closer to 3 or 3 1/2. These teams are close. The thing is, our QB Hurts is a true freshman. He is as cool as it gets but he obviously lacks experience. I liken him to a slower, much stronger Tyrod. He doesn't look it but he does huge numbers in the weight room and can knock down defenders with a stiff arm. He has wonderful receivers, very good rbs, fine TEs. The OTs are superior and the center gets better every game. All of the above and they really are NOT an offensive team. The defense is MUCH better than last year. They have 2 DTs that have to be doubled. This often leaves players such as Allen, Williams and Anderson getting blocked 1 on 1. Not good. Reuben Foster is WAY better than Ragland was, and Rags could play. Credit BADOL for calling that before the season! Their safeties are great and the corners are good. They are all but impossible to run on. You can pass some but you better get rid of the ball quick because their pass rushers will take you out. I'm not going to make a prediction. I'm just saying ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree. This was my point. The Huskies defense was better than I thought. I knew all about the Tide defense. -

Not necessarily. Washington didn't play that bad on defense. Bama probably would have scored a lot more point against Penn State but as you say, there's no way to tell. -
I am not sure what you mean by the above. In 2012, Janoris Jenkins was a 2nd round pick. We of course took Gilmore at #10. Even if you think Gilmore is a better player (debatable for sure), do you think he is 29 places in the draft better? I for one completely do not. Again, are you saying that the 2nd round is too late for a corner?

Sully: Doug Whaley's team a no-show in finale
Bill from NYC replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dave, could this really be possible? Seriously? There are probably 1,000 posters on this board who knew EJ was awful YEARS ago. If you are correct, that is a scary scenario. Wouldn't you say? Call me crazy, but I am thinking that posters on a message board are not supposed to know more than general managers. What a mess. -
Hey man, this was a great post and sadly, every word is true. The premise of Whaley being anything less than awful is weak indeed. It's a shame what little we Bills Fans have to cling to.

Maybe Whaley will trade away several draft picks to take him. -
A case could be made that they have been doing this since 1990. http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/teams/bills

Why? -
I have no quarrel with any of your points.

Lets say EJ throws for 5 TDs, 400 yards

It's nice to have the #10, but our Bills need a huge amount of help. I don't know how much cap space there is, but my guess is that there isn't a whole lot to spend on free agents. This would tend to make this draft very important. The Bills have multiple weaknesses. I hope that a team comes along and makes us a strong offer to trade down. We need pass rushers, blockers, linebackers, a receiver and defensive backs. This is not to mention the qb position. Maybe some extra picks in 2017 and 2018 could help fill these needs. That said, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Whaley trades up for Adams or a corner. But at this time of the year there is always hope. -

The only thing that we KNEW for sure is that you would find a way to bore us by putting the blame on the fans yet again. Carry on. -
Would bringing back Pettine really be a crazy idea?
Bill from NYC replied to FireChan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would take him back in a second. When Rex came to town he promised a "bully." That of course was a joke. Buffalo is a tough town. The Bills need an aggressive coach and a physical team. I also think that some day he might be a good head coach as well. He didn't exactly go to a good situation in Cleveland and what happened there means little to nothing imo. -

You are SO right about Howard. He has very fresh legs. Think about it.....Derrick Henry was on the team last year. Every season he is surrounded by excellent players so he gets less reps. Also wrt Howard, I have seen all of his games at Bama. Over the years he got bigger. His frame supports it and now he is an awesome blocker, and not just due to his strength. His technique is to die for. As for your comment about receivers, there might be exceptions. Oakland has a pair of really good receivers, and I think this is a lot of help to Carr. Hey, wr is not #1 on my first round wish list, but I would rather have one than a defensive back. -
With E.J getting the nod this week?
Bill from NYC replied to fansince88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. My question to Bills Fans is who are they going to get who is better than Tyrod for next year? The answer is clear.....nobody. EJ is pure garbage. Trent Edwards was a better qb. I for one hope that Whaley doesn't trade away more picks, but I suspect that he will. Imo he can't control himself (much like an addict), and is just a nightmare of a GM. It ain't looking good. -
12 step groups are ok.

LOL I was going to PM you and ask you what you think of him. Generally, I am not fond of qbs with narrow frames. Do you find that wide shoulders help a qb? His arm does seem a tad weak. He looks like he is pushing the ball, no? -
And why was Marrone hired? Who brought this nobody to Buffalo? Look, there is no way I can prove it but I said from day 1 it was Brandon. They were paisans on some committee up in Syracuse. Brandon and Whaley are proven losers. Brandon will make you money for a while, then it will all come tumbling down. We are not even a laughing stock any more. We are an afterthought and we just committed to these two jackasses. This is bad........

Who sucks, EJ, Whaley or both?

Is Adams better than Landon Collins? Landon is killing it on the Giants, and he was the first pick of round 2. The Giants did trade up for him, but he WAS there. In the same draft they took a blocker with their #1, and now the are in the playoffs. Of course, they have a qb who is good. Next year, Alabama might have 2 safeties coming out. The first is Minkah Fitzpatrick. I hope they leave him at safety because if they do, he looks like a superstar from where I sit. The other, Ronnie Harrison hits like a young Atwater. He crushes people and is probably one of the guys you are talking about with a short shelf life. This kid hits harder than anyone I have seen in quite a few years.
