  1. I doubt it. He may have been asked to restructure but you don't let 15 sack guys go without a serious discussion. As it stands, the relationship had soured being repair and MW had to go. I am not a fan of the circumstances that led to this and wish him all the best
  2. Me neither But at what cost? Slash type OL players are tough to come by. Urbik was one and his price didn't sound too onerous. I wonder what the replacement plan is and why it was felt that he wasn't good value. As we have seen over the past decade, said talent is very very difficult to come by.
  3. Can the Bills use their cap space and pay him to retire ? That will make playoffs more likely than the addition of any one player to the Bills roster
  4. When talking about Josh Freeman, safety net is not the first thing that springs to mind.
  5. Just catching up with this thread and TBD in general. But, this PC by Whaley has me confused. He says the Bills have done a good job with the roster??? I thought the narrative at the end of another disappointing season was that the coaches are fine but the players weren't good enough for the schemes, especially on D. So which is it now? What caused the terrible 2015 season? It seems like Whaley thinks that fan memories and perceptions fade in 2 months. This doesn't smell good at all especially when we have a rather terrible cap position.
  6. I think he should hang up his cleats and start coaching. I think he will be a good coach.
  7. If he just comes back and plays another season (presumably with another team)? No I wont be surprised If he comes back and actually plays well with zip on his passes ? I will be shocked
  8. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2616828-peyton-manning-reportedly-wont-return-to-broncos-if-qb-continues-career?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial
  9. It has ti be instinctive. The effort needs to be present. He just looked skittish and tok stunned to react. I think if he immediately tried to recover the ball, he may have affected the location of the ball. This particular play just culminated a terribly lackluster game from Cam. After the first few minutes, it just looked like the heart, desire and fire weren't there. Which is why Denver didn't even try hard to get a first down in the fourth quarter and was just using each possession to knock 2 minutes off the clock. I pictured a Brady or Rodgers in place of Cam and imagined how they would have approached the game after being down. Did Cam's ddmeanour and effort come any where close to that picture? Not in my mind. The game and the PC after the game showed a very immature side of CN, something which shows up way too often for him to be the face of that franchise. Remember 'Donkey Kong Suh' and that juvenile dancing on the sideline in pre season? Dude has all the skills and abilities but is immature.
  10. Yes. Agree So what were the other players not named Darby doing on a regular basis. Have you totally bought into the spin that MarioW was to blame for the failings of the defense ? Yes he underperformed. But he was not the only one, more than one occasion the unit as a whole looked out of position.
  11. Considering the chances of the #1 defense not even making it to the superbowl, versus the likelihood of doing so with one of the elite QBs, I would without thinking twice, choose Rodgers.
  12. I now think Stafford's career will soon be done too, unless the Lions draft a good replacement. Stafford has consistently underperformed. Anyway, good luck to Megatron in his retirement
  13. Way too many assumptions in this post. First, he has to maintain production in his second year. Second, there is the entire issue of him able to see and use the full breadth of the field. Thirdly, the money being paid to him is on a 'show-me' contract. Then there is the experience with a Fitz-type contract made too early. Finally, 'most sought after in decades' ? That is entirely your opinion. I get that you are one of his strongest supporters but paying someone with the fear that he will fee disrespectful 14 months from now is way too un-businesslike.
  14. Yep. This Harvin argument is similar to the ones used for Spiller "if he catches in space he is deadly/he needs to be used properly/he can break the big one" or for Parrish/Goodwin "can run by anybody/cant be caught from behind". Flashes of brilliance, but ultimately too limited by one factor or another to be meaningfully useful.
  15. Of course the DC would want to remain anonymous. Wouldn't want to proclaim his ignorance to the world. Kap is inaccurate and no amount of'scheme' or coaching will overcome that on a season-long basis. I am guessing said DC may be Dave Wannsteadt
  16. I don't agree. A decision should be made based on what the player does or does not bring to the team. Based on his history, the FO should not give him a contract hoping all will go well. This is a Fred Jackson type decision in my mind- the FO believed that he is well over the hill even though he was not too bad in the previous season. They cut Fred which opened up the thought process to bring other replacement. Sorry but in my mind, the risk of an unavailable Harvin is far more than the reward when and if he plays.
  17. With Harvin, it is either attitude or health or in the present case 'we don't know' (per the Bills). If K and A Williams are half way healthy, do you think they would stay off the field ? That they wouldn't tell the Bills whats up with them ? Sorry, but there is just no comparison in my mind. Its not fair and its rather unrealistic also. We are not in the middle of the season, we are in the off-season. The choice will NOT be between Harvin and a crappy player. We will have plenty of opportunities to address the #2 WR spot through existing players whose desire and heatlh history is better or via the draft. I am taking an extreme position, but this is not an area where the Bills should spend money and pray.
  18. You are comparing the history of Kyle Williams to Percy frikkin Harvin?
  19. If those are your only choices, maybe Option 1 is better but there will be other WRs becoming available. My major issue with having a #2 WR with injury/other issues is this - an offense is planned around the personnel. Injuries do happen but a #2 WR is more critical to an overall season's plan than a #3 or lower WR. I hesitate to go into the season planning around Harvin as the #2 because, in this case, history is an indication of the future. If the Bills say they have no idea whats up with Harvin, it is a terrible sign. His employers have to be totally aware of what issues he has so that they can plan accordingly. I am tired of players whose chance of playing a full season, heck half a season, are very very low. I would rather give the money to a cheaper, less spectacular but more reliable WR.
  20. I am all for this hire but as much improvement as the STs need, Ryan is in more dire need of QC.
  21. I know I am thinking vicariously but man it would be great if an Andy Reid coached team were to beat the snot out of the Pats** in their own stadium
  22. Very insightful entry by Rodak
  23. Havent seen Boldin play this year. Does he have a couple of good years in his tank ? Bowman would be nice.
  24. Any good 49er players we want on the Bills? Get them trades ready ...
