Would you resign Edmunds or a tackle?
BuffaloRebound replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m not a fan of paying Oliver more than $7-8m per year or Edmunds more than $11-12m per year. With Josh we’re trying to win Super Bowls not be happy to make playoffs every year. OL, WR#2, and even RB is where the money needs to be spent this off-season. -
Would you resign Edmunds or a tackle?

There’s definitely options between paying Edmunds $15m+ per year and starting Bernard. I’d rather spend that $15m+ on offense or D-Line. I’d also try to get Oliver’s $10m+ off the books. If i’m spending that money on defense, I’d much rather a $5-7m per year Edmunds replacement plus Payne or Hargrave for the same price of Edmunds and Oliver. -
2020. Not even close. He torched defenses. It was a thing of beauty. Some of those passes in the San Fran and Denver games were absurd. It was like watching Bonds hit 70 home runs. Wasn’t even fair to those defenses. Defenses adjusted, our OL stinks and we haven’t given him any more weapons. Go get a high end #2WR and get a stud on the OL.

Jessie Pegula reveals more about Kim

Wow. That young woman is a bad-ass. Franchise is in good hands after she’s done with her tennis career. -
FA and draft needs? Shoot your shot.

Defense: sign Poyer, let Edmunds walk, trade Oliver. Sign Daron Payne or Javon Hargrove and sign a vet LB in $5m per year range as Edmunds replacement Offense: trade Oliver and pick 27 to Houston for pick 12. draft Skoronski from northwestern. He can play Tackle or Guard. Sign Michael Thomas as Diggs’ 1B. Let Singletary walk, restructure Hines, and sign a bigger RB in Free Agency for under $5m. Draft best OL/WR available in 2nd round. -
I said this Last Year McDermott lacks the killer instinct.
BuffaloRebound replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall
McDermott’s a quality person and an excellent leader. I’m not sure it’s killer instinct he lacks as much as he doesn’t seem to be innovative or the risk taking type. Basically Dick Jauron with a top 5 QB. -
That’s the catch of having Super Bowl expectations leading into a draft. Rebuilding teams with tons of holes can sit back and let the draft fall to them. Teams like the Bills and Chiefs have to aggressively target specific players at specific positions. It’ll never happen since the draft has become its own ecosystem, but it really makes sense to do the draft before free agency. By then, everybody knows who the teams without a lot of holes are targeting.

With Oliver Value Goes Beyond the Stat Line
BuffaloRebound replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Kind of depressing when you look at the 3 DT’s who got drafted right after him. -
I’m embarrassed for Diggs. This is so bad.

How heavy and out of shape does Dawkins looks even compared to the other O-linemen there?

With Oliver Value Goes Beyond the Stat Line
BuffaloRebound replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
I could see Houston giving up a 3rd for Oliver. They have a lot of picks, a lot of cap room, will have to over-pay for free agents, and Oliver is a Houston guy. -
Not with Miller. Too much money already owed to an aging D Linemen. Daron Payne… now your talking.

BuffaloRebound replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Can anybody more knowledgeable than me care to explain why he has dominant games like Detroit then you don’t hear his name for another 2 months. Is it his motor? Scheme? Can’t beat decent or certain types of O-Linemen? -

It’s not an over-reaction after the last 3 playoff losses to think this coaching staff can’t get it done. KC made our defense look as bad in 2020 as cincy did this year. Then KC went on to the Super Bowl and Tampa’s D destroyed them. Cincy’s Offense looked very average against the Ravens before us and KC after us and made us look like clowns. And 13 seconds speaks for itself. I’m sorry, it’s not an over-reaction to have no belief in this coaching staff to be Super Bowl caliber especially on the defensive side.

Scouts, Scheme, Evolution, free agency, and a Hands-Off Coach
BuffaloRebound replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m fine with keeping Edmunds if it’s $15m per year or under. He’s a good, not great player and will give you at least 5 more good years. The problem is the D Line. You can’t count on Miller being that guy anymore. They really need a difference maker on the D Line. Cut Settle, trade Oliver for anything you can get, and go sign Daron Payne. We desperately need a guy that can draw double teams and free up other guys. Then on offense, trade up for the best OT prospect still available in the top 15 picks. Sign a hammer at RB for under $5m per year. And go get a vet WR that has a year or 2 left that is chasing a ring. -
I actually think Rivera is his best comp. When Newton was a top 5 QB, Carolina was in the playoffs every year and even made a Super Bowl. McDermott has a top 5 QB.
-
Guys who’ve won Super Bowls are absolutely higher than McDermott. That’s 8 guys including Sean Payton. I think I’d put guys like Taylor and Sirianni higher than mcdermott because they’ve made a Super Bowl. definitely shanahan too. That puts mcdermott around 12th.

BuffaloRebound replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
If we’re gonna spend $20m per year on anybody this off-season, it better be for a guy like Daron Payne. I think we get too focused on perceived holes in the roster and not enough on true difference makers regardless of position. Paying Oliver $10m next year is borderline criminal. You gotta make tough decisions like these to take the next step. Hoping that Miller and his 34 year old repaired knee puts us over the top ain’t a sound strategy. -

If that’s the contract we could sign him for, I’d take Edmunds. You’re not getting a significant upgrade in free agency at RT for $11m per year. OL and WR’s get stupid money in free agency.- 153 replies

2023 Offseason Primer: Cap Tickets (Restructure)
BuffaloRebound replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can’t imagine anybody paying Edmunds $20m per year. He’s a good player but nowhere near the level of the premier non-rush LB’s like Roquan and Fred Warner. Would have to be a team with crazy cap space. Chicago would’ve paid Smith. Maybe Houston? Pittsburgh? I really can’t think of anybody else who’d pay $20m per year for Edmunds.
