  1. Look at the Eagles with McNabb injured and now out. Take Brady off of New England and they are worse than us. Look at the demise of Tennessee and see how it correlates to the deterioration of McNair's skills. The lone exception is perhaps Pittsburgh as they seem to keep winning without any stars. Stud players make plays and allow average players to be good role players because not as much is asked of them. These teams don't fall apart after giving up 1 or 2 touchdowns because they know they are never out of the game. I really believe the talent is basically equal among teams throughout the NFL. The difference is those stars that change the entire persona of their teams. The one player we do have like that has been out since week 2.
  2. This is a pretty good thread. Count me in the camp that in today's NFL, you need to be lucky when it comes to turning it around. The margin between winning and losing gets smaller every year. How can a team hold KC to 3 points one week then the following week give up 48 to San Diego? Put Carson Palmer or Peyton Manning on this team and everything changes, even the defense. Also, this team is playing without its All-Everything LB and its 2 starting DT's. Add in QB struggles and being without your 2nd and 3rd round picks for much of the season, and it's a wonder this team has won 4 games. I don't have a problem with Donahoe's leadership. I just think that you only get so long to turn it around and time and patience are running thin.
  3. QB play is piss poor across the NFL. I think it is a combination of defenses being better than they ever have been, NFL teams unwilling to sacrifice seasons to develop QB's, and more and more of the quality QB's getting hurt.
  4. I am all for sending guys like Sam Adams packing. When you are winning, you can put up with players who don't play hard all the time. When you aren't, stuff like that ruins team chemistry. Moulds does complain a lot, but he plays hard all the time so I can live with that. But Adams drives me crazy. Not only does he not play hard all the time, but he is good for at least one offsides penalty a game that extends a drive and leads to points.
  5. The only guys with large contracts on this team are Moulds, Williams, and Spikes. Spikes isn't going anywhere. Moulds proved last week he's still an excellent receiver if you can get him the ball. And you probably have to still stick with Mike Williams. Fletcher, Adams, Milloy and Vincent don't make huge money and don't have more than 2 years left on their contracts. You might as well draft their replacements this year, bring them back and cut them only if their replacements are ready. Posey doesn't make big money either. I'd like to see a DT and LB drafted in rounds 1 and 2 this year.
  6. Mularkey made the right call with Losman. He was getting worse. Every situation is not similar. For every Eli Manning, there's a David Carr or Tim Couch who probably could have benefitted from getting benched. That said, I think it may be time to put Losman back in there. Holcomb made some rookie mistakes down the stretch against NE. Short of Holcomb developing into a first rate Qb or realistic playoff chances, it's time for Losman. I also don't think this team is old at all. The offense is extremely young. On defense, the only old position is safety. Spikes will play for a long time, Crowell will replace Fletcher or Posey, and Adams is gone. The corners, ends, and depth positions are all young. The Bills will most likely have 5 Day 1 draft picks and at least 4 should be spent on a DT, LB, and safety.
  7. If this team has an ounce of pride, it will play balls-out to avoid the very real possibility of being blown out in front of a national audience. I can see this one being like those 12-9 games we played against the Pats in 2001.
  8. Too bad Bryson was never as fast as Chad Morton.
  9. 3 moves have changed the SD franchise around and you could reasonably argue luck had more to do with them than anything else. SD passed up on Vick and Tomlinson dropped into their hands because they were fresh off the Ryan Leaf debacle (some luck, some good decision-making). Brees ends up the starter last year because Rivers drags his feet on negotiations (Entirely luck). SD signs a former mid-major college basketball player as training camp fodder and he becomes an All-Pro tight end. (mostly luck, but have to give the organization some credit). You could do a similar exercise with Bellichick, New England, Mo Lewis/Drew Bledsoe, and Tom Brady. Buffalo is still waiting for its lucky breaks.
  10. I am becoming more and more convinced that the over-riding common theme among successful franchises in NFL recently is luck. Most NFL organizations, the Bills included, are run well. The difference between consistently winning and losing in the NFL is a Tom Brady, Donavan McNabb, or Peyton Manning. Getting those guys on your team requires luck.
  11. He's played about the same. The defense also gave the offense great field position in Game 1 and he hasn't had that since. The defense and special teams aren't playing at the level expected. I'd say JP is playing at the level many thought he would be playing at.
  12. You still need a passing game that keeps teams honest. The Bills don't have that right now. Every NFL defense can stop the run if you don't have to worry about the pass. Despite his struggles, I still think you have to stick with JP. And if veterans like Moulds B word about it, then send them walking.
  13. Because the NFL owes a game to NO after losing a home game.
  14. Holcomb is an adequate NFL QB. Losman is not an NFL QB right now.
  15. Please. How long are you gonna stick with a guy who averages 70 net passing yards a game? This team is probably 3-1 if Holcomb was the starter from Game 1.
  16. Now it's on the defense. NO is pinned in their own end and a 3 and out is a must.
  17. For those watching, are these penalties blatant or are the refs doing their best to give New Orleans the game?
  18. I'll gladly trade their field goal for better field position.
  19. Thanks Jabari Greer. That 15 yard penalty probably just cost the Bills 7 points. Send fools like that packing!!
  20. McGahee needs to get to the line quicker. How many zero and minus yardage plays has he had so far? If he was breaking off 50 yarders with some regularity, you could live with it. He needs to get back to his last year mentality and run hard to the line every play.
  21. Playing at Miami is basically the equivalent of playing in the NFL. He played against NFL studs everyday in practice and Miami plays an elite schedule. He will be fine.
  22. Spikes is on track for that status. He still needs a couple more years to surpass what Darryl Talley brought to the Bills for 10+ years. Talley was the Jim Kelly of the Super Bowl defenses.
  23. TB will be a tough test for the offense. I was happy with the game yesterday, but 3-14 on 3rd downs isn't going to get it done at Tampa Bay. The current slot men are useless. Roscoe can't get back soon enough. I do think that the Bills will have more success running early than they did yesterday.
  24. ESPN NFL Countdown show ticker has Parrish as questionable. I have to believe this is wrong but does anyone else have any info?
  25. If the NFL is going to give the Bills an extra home game, I certainly won't complain about it. Throwing together a game at a neutral site in 3 weeks is probably extremely hard to do. You can't expect more than 30k to show up in a non-NFL city under those circumstances.
