More signs it looks like Travis to Cards
BuffaloRebound replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw the Green interview last night as well. It was very humorous because you could tell that he still wants Travis but TD is frustrating the hell out him. My prediction is Henry doesn't go to the Cards, and we pick up Shelton in June after he is cut to compete with Khalif Barnes or Jamaal Brown, who we will trade up to get with our 2 2nd round picks. Henry to Philly. -
ESPN's John Clayton reports that the Redskins are
BuffaloRebound replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Washington cannot take on another headcase like Woodson. And there is no way they are keeping both 1st rounders as they would have made the trade with Denver on draft day. I have to imagine the 'Skins made the Denver trade with another deal agreed upon with someone else. And maybe they are just waiting for the Niners to not select Edwards and then the deal will be announced with Miami. Or the Niners are trying to shake down the 'Skins and threaten to take Edwards unless the Skins sweeten the pot. But if the trade with Denver was made in order to move up for Edwards, the Skins will end up getting taken to the cleaners because they made the deal with Denver too soon and showed their cards. -
Is a DT selected at #55 going to be any better than Anderson or Edwards? I think TD takes a defensive tackle but not before the 4th round. I'm looking for a CB and OL on the 1st day.

Maybe, but that is what makes the draft so much fun. Not to mention the Clements to Washington trade makes some sense, enough so that it keeps popping up in media sources. -

What are the chances Nate is a Bill after this year? I would love to keep him too but I wouldn't bet on him being here after this year. We can't keep letting guys walk without getting something in return. If you can get a 1st rounder for him in a year we don't have a 1st rounder, you gotta take it given that you don't think you can re-sign him. -

Why would Washington have made the trade in order to move up in the draft? You would think everyone in front of them would much rather have what they gave Denver than the #25 this year. Who would rather have the #25 this year than Washington's 1st rounder next year? Maybe someone that doesn't have a 1st rounder this year. -

Add to that TD and Modrak have mentioned that they wouldn't even want a top 10 pick this year and that Washington has been mentioned with Clements and that Tampa has entered the travis sweepstakes in a player for player trade and that Barber has been mentioned as a player Tampa is looking to deal. -
If true about wanting Campbell, it is absolutely ridiculous they made the trade now and told everyone interested in Campbell get to #24 and you got him. Watch Cleveland, Miami, or Arizona trade ahead of Washington to get Campbell.
-
Washington has to be trading one of those 1st rounders for a player. Why on earth would you make this trade before draft day otherwise? What if there is a run on the position you want? They basically have no draft picks to trade to move up if there is a run unless teams will accept draft picks from the 2007 draft.
-
Who is running the asylum over in Washington? They essentailly gave up as much as we did for Losman when they don't even know who will be available at #25 in a draft that is considered short on upper tier talent. Another deal has to be in the works for this to make any sense.

Clements will probably ask for and get a $15m signing bonus from someone next year. He's a 25 year old Pro Bowl cornerback. Donahoe seems to only dish out that kind of cash to guys who are both excellent players and team leaders (Spikes and Moulds). A #9 pick probably has a signing bonus in the $6-8m dollar range depending on the length of the deal.
-
I don't think the Clements deal would happen unless the Henry for Barber deal was real. At #9, I would guess a CB or pass rusher based on some of the player rankings out there and who will be available at #9. I guess Matt Jones could even be a possibility here also.

Any Henry for Shelton supporters still out there?
BuffaloRebound replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Westbrook is a restricted free agent so Philly has him for at least this year unless someone gives them a 1st round pick. -
Clements for a #9? Take it TD!!!!!!!!
BuffaloRebound replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The best player on your defense should be the highest paid. If you pay Clements more than Spikes, I would think Spikes wouldn't be too happy about it and rightfully so. Didn't Spikes have almost as many picks as Clements this year? -
Henry is the perfect complement to Westbrook. He will get all the tough yards that Westbrook doesn't and they could play in the backfield at the same time. Henry is a workhorse and if used properly is a quality starting RB. Unfortunately, McGahee is also a workhorse type back with better escapibility and at 100% has better break-away speed.

Clements for a #9? Take it TD!!!!!!!!
BuffaloRebound replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Clements wants more than what Winfield got, he will be gone next year unless he takes his game up a level this year. He is not as good as Spikes, thus I don't see him getting more than TKO's deal. -
I can see Matt Jones as a Bill
BuffaloRebound replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Jones is still available late in the 1st round, I could see TD moving up to get him. He's a potential game changer, and it doesn't seem like any of the OT's and CB's are that type of player in this draft. It also seems like there is a lot of depth at the OT and CB positions in this draft. It's hard to imagine TD and Modrak just sitting around until the 55th pick. Whereas other NFL organizations have strength in their pocketbooks, the Bills strength is their talent evaluation and the draft is where these guys distance themselves from other organizations. Doubtful they deal Clements, but Henry will be dealt on draft day and it would not surprise me to see the Bills trade up to the end of the 1st round. It would surprise me more if they didn't. -
PFW mock eludes to Redskins trade in next few days
BuffaloRebound replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt TD would make the deal with the 'Skins unless a CB he covets is available at #9 when the 'Skins are on the clock. If Clements is gone, we need a shutdown CB right off the bat and can't afford to wait around for a 2nd rounder or late first to develop. If Rolle is available at #9, and the Redskins come callin', I could actually see this happening. Snyder has the cash to throw Nate's way, and the Bills have the talent evaluators to trust trading a Pro Bowler for a future Pro Bowler if who they want is available at #9 and will get it at a significant lower cost than Nate for the next 5 years. -
Is this why James signed the franchise tender? Now he can sign a long term contract with Indy or in a sign and trade during this period?

The Stadium becomes bare! Come on, like it or not, this proposed stadium will make so much money for NYC and the surrounding area. It will be the premier stadium venue in the world for musicians, soccer, football, you name it. Why do you think MSG and the Dolans have spent over $20m lobbying against it? What would Buffalo do with $300m? Build another subway that 100 people ride on a daily basis. How much tax revenue do you think actually comes out of WNY? Do you honestly think NYC would care if WNY left the state from a tax revenue standpoint?

It's us or the lions for Demulling
BuffaloRebound replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems like DeMulling wants to come to the Bills but is using the Lions as leverage. Highly unlikely that it is the other way around as TD doesn't play that game and Millen is a proven moron as GM. So I think it depends on how inflated an offer Millen is willing to make. -
Edgarrin James to be traded?
BuffaloRebound replied to JimBob2232's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
$6m under the cap - why do the Colts need more cap room? What are they gonna do with $14m in cap room if they trade James? -
I gotta believe if Law comes here, it will be a 1 year deal. All it will do is provide the Bills some leverage with Nate, but in the end if Law recovers and is an adequate replacement to Nate, Law never seemed like the loyal type and will probably go to the highest bidder after. And I'd rather throw my money at a 26year old Clements than a 32 year old Law.
-
TD is not against spending money (see Takeo), he's just against giving top dollar to non-elite players. Nate jumped into the elite status this year. I think Nate will continue to be a Bill.

Do you honestly think that an OT scheduled to make $3m per season would still be on the market if he was any good? With guys like Jennings and McKenzie getting $12m in signing bonuses and $5m per year, you would think teams would be lining up to give the Cards at least a 3rd round pick for this guy. It tells me the guy just isn't highly thought of around the league. With Travis, you know what you are getting and if he had the same contract situation as Shelton, he would probably easily fetch a 2nd rounder. The longer Donahoe waits and the longer Shelton is still with the Cards, the price for him will keep dropping.
