  1. The continued Denney bashing is mind-boggling. He was the 3rd DE and got significant playing time on the #2 ranked defense. He is a good player and would get picked up in a heartbeat if the Bills cut him. Gause and Ritzmann are unknown, developmental guys right now.
  2. That's exactly the point. Did the Eagles really expect TO to play for $3m this year when they signed him last year? He was always an idiot. Everyone is giving The Eagles credit for sticking to their guns, but what good is it going to get them? TO is a 1st class moron and will continue what he is doing throughout the season until he gets more money. Their starting wideouts will be Greg Lewis and the 2nd round rookie and they will be paying Owens $3m to stay away from the locker room and field. The Eagles only play is to shut up and put up with his antics and maybe he'll come to play on Sundays. But for Reid to send him home for not talking to the other players is giving TO exactly what he wants if he doesn't get more money. More attention.
  3. TO is a moron but the Eagles need to take some of the blame here. They should have never let Owens sign that contract last year. You could see this coming a mile away. They got him on the cheap because he desperately wanted out of SF and didn't want to be traded to Baltimore and get his head knocked off chasing Boller's passes. Remember, the only reason he wasn't a Free Agent last year is because his agent forgot to file his FA papers in time. For all those who say he shouldn't cry about 7 years $49m, his guaranteed money was nowhere near what he should have gotten. Yes, TO is an idiot but the Eagles are equally to blame in my opinion.
  4. Even though TO did sign the contract, the Eagles had to see this coming. Despite the fact that it is a negotiation, you can't let a guy sign a contract that you know isn't fair market value. It's like playing chess against a moron and you have to tell him what move to make next because you don't want to beat him that easy. The 7 years $49m number is worthless. The only thing that matters in football contracts is guaranteed money because any game could be their last. As far as Willis goes, if he has an All Pro season, Donahoe will give him what he deserves. He is not a cheap bastard like the Eagles front office.
  5. I don't think Williams will be much of a factor this year. The Dolphins O-Line looked pretty bad overall last night. I was kind of impressed with David Boston though. He looked a little lighter and quicker.
  6. This smells like Simon and his agent are communicating through the Trenton Times to get something going. They are the only ones who have been quoted in the 2 stories. Could also be the Eagles trying to spur a market for Simon. In any event, it looks like the Eagles have moved on and will be happy to get rid of him.
  7. JP is known to pass his time admiring men in short shorts doing yard work and playing scrabble. I would categorize last year's Bills offense as one dimensional which is why they were terrible on 3rd down conversions.
  8. Apparently, the 2003 Ravens are a much better predictor of the 2005 Bills record than the 2004 Bills. Makes perfect sense.
  9. So Boller is a good comparison but Roethlisberger isn't? This Bills team and organization looks a lot more like the Steelers than the Ravens. So using your logic, I should use Rothlisberger as the measuring stick. Being a rookie had nothing to do with Boller struggling. He is just not a good QB. I just don't see how it is good journalism to mention JP's performance and the effect on the Bills 2005 record without talking about the quality of QB play the Bills got in 2004. The bottom line is will Losman be better than Bledsoe was last year when projecting the Bills 2005 record?
  10. These sportwriters need to aks themselves if Losman will have a higher QB rating than 76 and get sacked less than 38 times? If the answer is yes or about the same, then the offense will be better as Losman's scrabbling ability will add a new dimension to the offense. I just don't see how you can analyze the 2005 Bills chances without comparing JP to what he is replacing.
  11. My expectations for Losman are extremely low. That is not an indictment of his abilities but rather an indictment of his predecessor. I don't want to make this a bash Bledsoe thread, but I truly believe Shane Matthews could have went 9-7 last year with that team. As long as Losman doesn't turn the ball over I will be happy. He has all the tools to keep defenses honest. If he can keep the turnovers down, the Bills will have a better offense because it will be less predictable.
  12. Absolutely not. Payback is a b*tch. Whatever they were offering for Travis or maybe a round higher because a DT is a little more valuable than a RB.
  13. F' Philly. They were jerking Donahoe around with Travis and they jerk around most of their players when its contract time. They deserve what they are getting. I hope their starting lineup consists of Moats at RB, and Greg Lewis and Reggie Brown at WR. Donahoe should offer a 3rd rounder for Simon. Let him sit out and eat up $5m in cap space.
  14. I don't think Simon will break the bank like some are suggesting. He is running out of options and may have backed himself into a corner with Philly's front office. I don't think he'd be that much more expensive that Pat Williams. 4 years, $20m. If Ralph wants to open the checkbook, Clements can still be extended under the cap. They can worry about Willis next year. Draft an LT or LB in the 1st round next year and things look good for the future.
  15. There is no way Donahoe will give up more than what Philly was willing to take from the Ravens. I also think there is no way the Eagles take Josh Reed in lieu of a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Philly loves their draft picks and Josh Reed hasn't done anything in the NFL. I could see Donahoe offering 2 3rd rounders, but willing to go as high as a 2nd and 3rd.
  16. Getting Simon makes a lot of sense. And I don't think it is indicative of poor play by Anderson or Edwards. It simply adds another high caliber player to the DT rotation and locks a realtively young Pro Bowl DT up for at least 5 years. Adams is getting long in the tooth and only has a year remaining on his deal. Edwards and Anderson seem to be nice players but probably not difference makers. Getting Simon makes the team better this year and solidifies the future at DT.
  17. I could care less about JP's preferences. But that quote keeps putting the image in my head of Farley and Sandler in an SNL skit walking into a pool party full of guys in Speedos.
  18. I bet JP wishes he could strike that from the record. He doesn't want to be Rob Johnson part II.
  19. Thanks for the report. I would be surprised if Losman is very successful in his first go-around. There is just way too much pressure on this kid. This Bills team is built to compete now and patience will be at a minimum from players and fans when Losman struggles early on as all young QB's inevitably do. People want to point to Roethlisberger as a rookie QB that performed well but he was thrust into a starting role due to an injury and had nothing to lose. Maybe I'm just toning down my expectations, but I really think Holcomb will take over early in the season. And I cringe every time I see Losman having to critique and talk about every single pass he throws in practice.
  20. I know the deal will get done, but a 2nd rounder missing one minute of camp is unacceptable. Why would a 2nd rounder want Rosenhaus as his agent anyway? Does Roscoe really think he's gonna get extra attention on his contract over TO, Walker and all his other Pro Bowlers? Donahoe has a reputation of being fair with rookie contracts, and if Roscoe knew what was good for him, he'd sign right away and get to camp.
  21. I don't know anything about Verba, but if he is an upgrade at LT over Gandy, offer him a 1 year deal worth whatever the Bills are under the cap ($2-3m ??). It sounds like that's the best offer he'd get.
  22. Why doesn't Travis just tell the truth for once. He knows Willis McGahee is the better back and was afraid to compete for the job. How do you think Chris Brown feels who has put up numbers comparable to Willis's so far? You were afraid to compete with McGahee in Buffalo but your happy in Tennessee because you think you can beat me out.
  23. PW needs to shut his mouth already. We get it... you wanted to stay in Buffalo, the GM didn't give in to your demands, and now you are like a crazy ex-girlfriend. Get over it.
  24. Where's that little pencil-necked weasel John Clayton? TD sure over-played his hand here. Instead of getting a Tackle at $3m per season that was cut and signed to a $1m per year or a 4th round pick or possibly even 5th round pick, it appears that he will get a 3rd and possibly even a 2nd.
  25. If McGahee takes his game to the next level, give him his money. Also, is there any doubt that Rosenhaus is paying Mcgahee finder's fees for talking to other players?
