Maybin's hold-out is ridiculous. At least Crabtree dominated the college level for 2 years and was regarded by many people as a top 5 pick. Maybin should have been happy to get a little more than Orakpo. If the NFL and the Union can't agree on some kind of pre-determined salary for draft picks, just get rid of the 1st round of the draft and let each team sign one college player... kind of like a free agency 1st round, then start the draft with the 2nd round.

I doubt we'll ever know if the Bills tried to get Vick. Why deal with the fall-out if Vick chooses someone else? It was in every team's interest to deny interest in Vick until he actually signed with your team.

[closed]Rumor: Vick visited Buffalo
BuffaloRebound replied to Mopreme's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If that's true, he will be a Bill. Dallas is probably the worst choice for a guy who needs to lay low and rebuild his image/career. -
I was thinking the same thing watching the game Sunday. Our entire DL cannot beat anyone to the QB. What is the point of paying Kelsay and Denny millions when the Bills could just get some 300lb guy to play the run more effectively? Put McCargo and Johnson at DE. They are bigger and basically can't do any worse generating pressure.

I think Jauron lacks the competitive 'fire' of a guy like Fisher. That's what drives me crazy. If Fisher embarrasses my team like that in the 1st pre-season game, I'm telling my team to go kick some a$$. That guy is laughing over on the other sidelines at us. There's a difference between controlling your emotions and actually allowing yourself to have any.

Ellison and McKelvin are allergic to contact. I guess you can live with a CB who makes plays being like that, but New England will throw those short WR screens all day on McKelvin's side because he can't shed blocks and isn't a good tackler. Ellison probably looks great in Jauron's no-contact OTA's and Training Camp, but too bad Sundays require contact.
-
I'll add... 8. MCKELVIN SCARES ME AT CB - COLLINS WAS PICKING ON HIM THE ENTIRE TIME. 9. PASS RUSH CONTINUES TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM
-
Good point about the Bills not being physical. Ellison would be a 2-hand-touch All-Pro. Too bad it's a physical game on Sundays. I really hope Harris can beat him out. The guy made plays in college and continues to do so.

Can Crabtree and his agent be that stupid? Should the Bills give Maybin less than Orakpo because most prognosticators had Orakpo going higher?

Bills And Signing Their Draft Picks
BuffaloRebound replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is it really that hard to set the market for draft picks when you have all the parameters pretty much given to you? Not trying to make a mountain out a molehill since most years this doesn't matter, but why not seize the advantage that extra week brings you. It just under-scores how this is not a dynamic organization. -
The World's Last Losman Fan
BuffaloRebound replied to silvermike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Joyner might be right but Losman can't even land a job as a backup. Losman needs to humble himself, go to Canada, get playing time and become a consistent QB. He's gotten more chances than he deserved in Buffalo and the rest of the League knows you can't rely on him even in a backup role. -
Greg Paulus To Play QB For Syracuse Orangemen
BuffaloRebound replied to bills44's topic in Off the Wall Archives
That's asking a lot of a guy who hasn't played football in 4 years and basically has 3 months before the season starts to gain 30 pounds and get the rust off. Plus he has to wash 4 years of floor-slapping Duke d-baggery out of his system. -
Byrd to miss some mini-camp time....
BuffaloRebound replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This might be the dumbest rule I have ever heard of. So if Google offers a college kid a job before graduation, needs him to start right away, and the job isn't dependent on having his degree, the kid can't take the job and finish his degree later? I'm sure the colleges fought for this so their graduation rates for football players aren't more horrible, but this is an example of a rule to help the colleges look better at the expense of the athletes. -
Bills gave Wendell Bryant a tryout according to Profootballtalk.com, former DT and 1st round bust of the Cardinals. Interesting read and guy might be worth a shot if he's got his life in order now or could just be a case where the guy ran out of money.

Nobody wanted Denney, Kelsay, Simpson
BuffaloRebound replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
$9.5 million in total scheduled to be paid to Kelsay, Denney, and Spencer Johnson this year. Something has to change... horrible return on investment. -
Levi Jones to be released
BuffaloRebound replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is he better than Walker at LT? That's the only question that matters as it looks like he'd probably be cheaper as well. -
Bills Daily gives Bills C- grade...
BuffaloRebound replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
6th and 7th rounders should not influence an initial draft grade. Most of those guys don't make the team and should be looked at in conjunction with the UDFA's signed. If the Bills somehow landed Henderson, I would be very happy with this offseason. -
We should't pick again until the 6th
BuffaloRebound replied to scribo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tight End is a luxury right now with the WR's, and RB's we have. Go get Henderson. With Henderson and Stroud, Maybin gets more time on the field. -
What happens to Brad Butler?
BuffaloRebound replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be very surprised if the Bills traded up to get Levitre to be a backup. Walker, Levitre, Hangartner, Wood, and Butler should find a way to get on the field. -
Cardinals want a second for boldin
BuffaloRebound replied to Zona's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How come no one else wants him? We might have the best WR corp in the league, so I don't know why we would go after him when WR-needy teams aren't. -
I'm not advocating Maybin, but that type of thinking is why we haven't made the playoffs for 9 years. A 20 year old putting up those kind of numbers in his 1st year of starting is certainly intriguing. It would suggest he's only going to get better and he seems like a good kid and hard worker. On the downside, it was his 1st year and teams probably didn't design their blocking schemes around him.

Pettigrew is our first pick...
BuffaloRebound replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about Roscoe and pick #28 to Minnesota for pick #22 if Pettigrew gets past Philly? It would make sense for both teams. -
Trading up for Andre Smith
BuffaloRebound replied to RockPile007's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you trade up that far, you are paying him Peters money. That would idiotic. -
Andre Smith @ 11 Alex Mack @ 28 DE Johnson in 2nd?
BuffaloRebound replied to 95altima12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Smith's offseason probably cost him Top 5... too much guaranteed money. If Cincy doesn't take him at #6, I doubt Oakland takes him at #7 and he'd be there at #8.
