  1. The league is to blame for certain. High def television is to blame in part as well. Fan expectation is part of the problem. However, in a game with 20+ flags thrown, it's hard to reconcile the tackle up at the helmet on JA and the pass int missed on the Zay drop near the end. The flags were thrown at a rate of one every 3 minute of football. They were calling the game tightly (which should never need to be said) why keep the flags in the pocket on the last series? This was a bad crew yesterday. There are bad teams, there are bad crews, I've never understood why some folks (not you in this case) feel that should be glossed over. Add in the allegation that one of the officials was jawing with Jerry Hughes, it's part of the overall product.
  2. Interestingly, there are only three variations in use in this country today. The British have 5, 6 if you include the old "scratching at the lice under the periwig" trick, but you don't see that much these days.
  3. Thanks for the follow up Boyst. I'm always amazed by how many folks who pursue higher education aren't all that smart, fair-minded or both. I wonder what his feeling might be if his father faced similar accusations and the hospital wanted to disassociate with him? Out of an abundance of caution, just to be respectful to all involved.
  4. Serious question. Did the renowned forensic psychologist offer an opinion on what the appropriate response would be to be accused of attempted rape, organizing gang sexual assault parties and having ones life ripped to shreads in a choreographed national spectacle? A knowing nod? A vigorous but not-too-aggessive shaking of one's head? The pensive bite on the frame of the eyeglass? He handled the usual political back stabbing, innuendo, and posturing with a smile and a nod, but I guess I'm at a loss as to what one should say or do when forces from inside the government conspire to destroy you in front of the world? Personally I think the George McFly "You get your damn hands off her" reply is not strong enough. I always wonder what the people/mind experts think, often followed up with "these people are so full of $#!t it isn't funny". I
  5. I'd say fabricating a story about the lawfully appointed AG constitutes news most would consider fake. So, either the Post story was intentional, or their sources and vetting suck something awful. Either way, Trump speaks the truth on this issue.
  6. My memory for games from the past is pretty bad, though I remember that. You get 4 downs, one of which is used to guve the ball to your opponent if you don't do a good job moving the ball on the first three. Life goes on.
  7. After dinner, did he tell you to fly..fly away little Clarice...? The only way that's not weird is if your name is Clarice Boyst.
  8. I have a much larger issue with the Bush family. Their reaction to attacks (retaliatory, preemptive whatever) on Jeb the Docile were understandable. However, I would assume the friendship with Clinton and Obama Inc would not be possible if they viewed those relationships in the same context. Those individuals ripped, scraped, tore and clawed at the eyes of their other son, leaving a scorched earth in their wake, accusing him of crimes against humanity and of sacrificing American lives for a phony war based on manufactured evidence. Somehow that all seems ok now. Michele an W are fast friends now. Bush the elder and Bill the Humidor guy were part of a coalition of old guys who get each other, maybe brought together by a shared interest in young woman they might put their hands on. So, my read is pretty simple. Establishment is establishment, and you can say whatever you want about whomever you want, because their personal and political ambitions differ slightly but meet in the middle on what can best be illustrated on a Venn diagram of corruption. I voted for both bush, then more bush, but by the time Jen came along, I realized that sometimes too much bush can be a bad thing. I feel dirty just typing this but more the life of me don't know why. That said..HW was unfairly characterized as a wimp, and his service record was impeccable.
  9. Fair assessment. Tom's response really made me laugh, and thought you took the shot quite well.
  10. You were home schooled?
  11. At that time the Russians were not the enemy because Clinton was going to be elected president.
  12. Well, you answered pretty directly. Logic's earlier reference to "smoke" was pretty clearly the set up to his next post which will enlighten all on the "fire". Because, obviously, Russian meddling could only lead to Trump being elected. It's been written and said by so many, for so long, it's either that or yet another campaign of disinformation by members of the opposition party and certain members of the media. As the Russians invented this whole game just a couple short years ago, that simply cannot be true. Come to think of it, Rasputin is murdered, Princess Anastasia allegedly reappears decades later..then 60+ million vote for Trump. How can that be a coincidence? I'm on the edge of my seat.
  13. I'd point to Uber and Lyft as a recent example of government intervention. Taxi =fees, insurance, inspections, medallions, disclosure to pick up passenger A and deliver him to location X. With Uber, that which revolutionized the quick hit transportation gig...= little regulation, little oversight and a whole lot less money to play in the game...all while delivering passenger A and delivering him to location X. The separate & distinct argument that the taxi experience largely sucks aside...it's all about the way the government pulls the levers. It's all about the haves and have nots, and if the government casts a benevolent gaze you way, you soon sit on piles of money.
  14. Darius Rucker maybe. Actually this staff does have a pretty good handle on the defense. I'm in for whatever they think will work.
  15. I don't see any reason why it would not be raised.
  16. A "Guarding Tess" reference. Degree of difficulty on message board: 5.765. Outstanding!
  17. I didnt argue the Fournette should not be arrested. That issue was raised by the other poster. I do not disagree that getting punched can result in serious injury. I also agree that an empty Coors light can likely would not injure you unless you were having a really bad day. I do not agree that a full/semi full beer can that strikes someone cannot cause injury, potentially serious in nature. Finally, I am totally at a loss as to how Fournettes actions with Shaq give the guy in Section 337, Row H, Seat 14 license to toss a beer can at him, even with fournette taunting the crowd.
  18. Ok, I'll take the hit on the Kardashian comment. That was my bad going for a cheap laugh. In fairness though, you went on a rant about Fournette and gronk being douches as if that cancels out the fan behavior. They are not mutually exclusive, and have little to do with the fan's behavior. I sincerely think that type of activity is not harmless. I think it's foolish and when you arrest someone for that sort of behavior it tends to send the right message. I never suggested the jackhole go to Attica, btw, and my assumption would be an appearance ticket would be issued, a little $$$ on the line and a little embarrassment follows. I will say if my son was the thrower, my response would be "Actions have consequences, and thank God no one was hurt.". My father may have been less tactful had it been me. As for the cage match, again, that was more of a guy response to mynperceptiom of cowardly/drunken behavior. We can agree that gronk and fournette are dbags. That's enough for me.
  19. Early on, JA had a couple of those rookie moments where he tried to extend plays by turning away from the line and moving backward. It appears he figured out that with few exceptions, that rarely works out well. Yesterday he seemed comfortable in the pocket, comfortable when running and 100% committed to winning the game. He also seems able to rally the team and while not a come from behind victory, the td after the missed field goal was huge. Good stuff.
  20. Of course I've been to a bar where someone was acting like a jerk. I'm 50+ years old and grew up in WNY. I work in a field where people frequently act like jerks, or worse. In all that time, incredibly, almost as if by magic I never hid in a crowd and threw a beer can at the head of the jerk(s). To the best of my knowledge my friends navigated those waters without throwing a beer can either, but I can see now how much sense it makes because a jackass at a football game offends you. It's the perfect solution. As for the cage match, you are making the argument that it's ok to throw what amounts to a sucker punch from the stands, but wrong to suggest that the thrower should be man enough to meet fournette face to face? I'd think he (assuming the thrower was male, of course) would want to teach that jerk a lesson. Here's the real irony. You're openly advocating throwing beer cans and garbage at people and calling me dumb. Think about that for a minute, and then pretend you're in a debate and your best arguments are: He was a jerk. Other people can be jerks, too. Therefore, the only logical answer is to hurl a beer can at his skull and if it happens to hit some poor attendant working the game, what other choice was there??? (Hint: there are other options)
  21. Easy Bruce Kardashian. Your emotions are getting in front of you here. Yes, I believe a person at a football game who throws a beer can at a guy is a douche who should be arrested. I already explained why. I don't think a person throwing a paper hot dog wrapper at a guy should be arrested, but still represents a douche move. I was absolutely insinuating that Fournette would likely beat the thrower to a bloody pulp if the beer can person faced him squarely instead of tossing a metal object at him from the saftey of the stands. Again, I think someone throwing a can at a crowd can have unanticipated consequences, that seems like pretty basic math to me. I thought the Gronkowski move was criminal, I thought it was cheap and feel like throwing a beer can is a variation of of the same type of behavior. I was all for Gronkowski getting arrested. Before you blow a gasket, there are degrees of behavior, and Gronkowski concussing Tre White would be worse than a beer can hitting Fournette and not causing injury. However, if a full beer can hit someone and say, fractured their eye socket we would have to revisit it. Fournette was a douche, Fournette was not innocent here and deserves to be suspended and fined. I don't think what he did equates to what Gronkowski did, but can understand if you feel it's the same thing. My comment was on the fan and throwing things at players. If your logic is that fans get to throw things as paying customers, and this is a sample of how you express yourself in writing, I'm just not a fan of Bruce_Stools sample.
  22. Lame doesn't cover it. What I see is about 25 people within a dozen feet or so of a guy with a helmet on, and two or three guys immediately adjacent to Fournette. If the object hits any of them, the outcome may be totally different than harmless bouncing off a helmet. I go with criminal. Arrest the douche if you can find him, charge him appropriately and make an example of him. Then, when all is said and done, have him step into the ring in a tough guy competition with Fournette.
  23. Eh...I generally don't have specific issues with the calls. I have issues with consistency in-game, from crew to crew and often quarter to quarter.
  24. This is a sad day for me. I've never placed a poster on ignore, I think it limits the opportunity to consider what others might have to say and how it impacts my own life. Some things I take seriously, some much less so. I don't understand why someone would change the text of what someone else wrote on a message board to score points with...anyone. I'm not talking about "fixed it for you" posts, those are silly and while I don't do that, there is an acknowledgement by all as to what transpired. To me, this is a bit like hanging out with people you don't always agree with, but are in the circle of people you know. You decide to have a party, you invite the person to come, knowing things are what they are. All is going well, everyone having a good time when you go upstairs and find the guy rifling through your cupboards and watch him stuff 3 dollar bills and 78 cents in nickles, dimes and pennies into his pocket. It's not that it's a huge deal, you can absorb the $3.78, in fact you would probably flip the guy a $20 if he needed the money for gas. Still, you are left to wonder what it is embedded in the guy's nature that is twisted enough to do something so petty and irrelevant, to know it is petty and irrelevant, yet chooses to plow ahead anyway. You're the $3.78 guy. Anyway, while I'll solve the problem by placing you on ignore, I'll leave a bag of empty beer cans out front of my house for you. If you're ever interested in salvaging some semblance of integrity, put the effort in, take 'em back and invest the proceeds in the Dale Carnegie course "How to win friends and influence people".
