This is the sort of play you see when they describe the old school NFL game where players "got their bell rung". I have no idea about the Mooks, but if they are as bad a$$ed as the Moops, watch out.

My brother is a very likable guy, good with people generally and doesn’t look for trouble. Still, there was a time when he would drop the gloves and could handle himself quite well. One night at a local gin mill, another fella was harassing a friend of his in hopes of stepping outside. My brother volunteered to take his friends place, and as the assailant considered the offer, a third guy whispered to him “That’s Bob McAdoo*…you don’t want to mess with him” (*Bob McAdoo is a pseudonym, not sure where I came up with it). Anyway, he was at a Wegmans chatting with a teller, asking for feedback and wishing her holiday cheer as the men in our family tend to do. As he chatted, a douche wandered by and told him to “Put his $&)&ing mask over his nose.”. My brother suggested he mind his business, the douche suggested it was his business and lobbed an obligatory “Go vote for Trump” his way. My brother’s thought was it was fortuitous he didn’t see the guy outside on his way out. My brother is in his mid 50s. Civility seems to be on hold at times, and while it certainly pays both ways, you have to had a pretty sad life on your hands when your main objective in life is to engage with. Mask wearing human who’s nose peaked out from the mask while engaged in conversation. Ar the same time, it’s fair to say when you want to push someone, sometimes you might be surprised as how they push back.

When you reduce your options in life to one of two choices, you reveal a limitation in critical thinking. When you take the time to type it and share your thoughts with others, you reveal to the world that you are a simpleton. Since you asked, I'll reply as I did when you incorrectly assumed I had not been vaccinated--politely and to educate you, the uneducated. I require neither tissue nor medal. I'd prefer acknowledgement and your recognition that you jumped to an unwarranted conclusion, but I'll take one of the three Trump memes you keep for just this type of embarrassing scenario in the alternative. Blind faith in any one person is generally recipe for disaster, but who are we kidding here? It's extremely unlikely you listen to your doctor's advice on everything, though accepting the jab seems one you would pre-inclined to listen to. My doctor suggested getting the vaccine as well, though his manner and temperament had much less anxiety and hostility than that of the average dem pretending that only people that supported Trump are vax-hesitant. That's probably because he's a man of intellect and deep reflection, v your average knuckledragger of any political persuasion. On the flu vaccine btw, it's interesting you bring that up. The CDC indicated that only about half of the American public avails themselves of the flu vaccine annually, a relatively small number when you consider the annual cost of treatment of the flu, and the death count associated with the flu and flu-related deaths each year. When you remove children from the equation, we find less than half of the adults in the country receive the flu shot. When you stop to consider the one government agency has a benchmark of 70%, it seems pretty clear that all this talk about us'n'them getting together and serving the common good isn't all that realistic, and we've collectively done a better than average job of working together here. In your average flu season, people don't really seem to care all that much over those we lose. Now before you get all antsy and I have to take you to the woodshed again, I get my flu vaccine every year. I do it because I believe it lessens the likelihood of a serious illness--which I prefer not to experience again, and to contribute to the greater good. I work in a public setting and frequently encounter older Americans, and I feel no less committed to the cause during cold and flu season than I do now. https://usafacts.org/articles/how-many-americans-get-flu-shots-vaccine-cdc/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=ND-Healthcare&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxdbF2rKE9QIVxP_jBx3MDgRoEAAYASAAEgJdGfD_BwE Oh, and for my contribution to your health, you are welcome. That's absurd. Michael Jordan couldn't jump over Niagara Falls in his heyday, and he was a good jumper.

This is a different point than you made previously, where you were crowing about the fiercely independent dem mindset where you didn’t need leaders to tell you what to think. The irony of that statement is priceless as you hunker the f down with lights off while muttering “I make my own choices once Biden tells me what to do!”. Now that you tapped out on that issue, I’ve done what I can. I followed protocols including: following all guidance issued since March of 2020, including wearing a mask made of Puffs and rubber bands in stores located in counties uninterested in following the Hochul maybe mandate based on the Biden sorta mandate; I closed my office in 2020, established work from home procedures and kept my employees employed while work was scarce; I’ve done my level best to accommodate employees still concerned about COVID through a mostly unsatisfying work-from-home arrangement; When I travelled to Florida in February, I followed NYS protocol involving testing, quarantine upon return in spite of the fact that the protocol made no sense whatsoever. It was weighted to punish/impact NYS residents while applying no testing/protocol whatsoever for folks who lived out of state who worked in NYS; I drove 80 miles to get vaccinated in April, made the same trip a few weeks later for the second jab; I’ll be boosted as I see fit; Open your eyes, close your mouth and you’ll learn a few things.

Sadly, under your watch, the wind has blown in the direction of increased transmission, an increasing death count and cynicism courted by dem leaders as previously noted. I think President Biden called for a winter of death on his watch. Maybe you people should think like the guy who delivered the vax and didn’t $&@& up the distribution.
-
On the one hand you got the guy who spearheaded the development of the vaccine. On the other hand you have the people saying “I wouldn’t trust the vaccine if Trump’s in office”. On another hand you have folks who argue that American’s have a right to question. On yet another hand you have those same folks suggesting you really shouldn’t question anything their people said, even though they said what they said on the first hand. At times it feels like one big *****, figuring all this out.

It appeared as if Biden really struggled to concentrate on the follow up question “Are you from Oregon?”. I’m wondering if something about the “Brandon” reference triggered something in his memory and while he couldn’t recall exactly why it bothered him, that part was at war with the ole affable Joe part of his brain.
-
Of course Americans had/have the right to question these things. That was part of the original point—and thank you for acknowledging it. You can pretend that the Dems advising those same Americans to be skeptical of the vaccine, and fighting the dissemination of information as part of the dem platform in 2020 had nothing to do with the skepticism, but that seems a fools errand to me just based on the numbers we all can see. I guess I wonder why in your mind American’s lost the right to question when your new admin took over? It’s pretty obvious based on vax numbers that millions of Americans of all political stripes still do, yet suddenly the Biden messaging is to sit down, shut up and submit. You probably missed this up thread: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-12-18/vaccine-data-gaps-point-to-millions-more-in-u-s-who-lack-shots The B/H ticket is really struggling here as people reject their mitigation recommendations.

Thank you, and I hope you and your family did as well. Color me skeptical, though I suppose one man’s view of politicking is another’s conspiracy theory. Interestingly enough, Trump’s messaging (as you see it, anyways) would go on the list of reasons people across the land might be vaxx hesitant or distrustful of the government/people in leadership. We’ve come this far and it’s almost a Christmas miracle. What did you mean when you said protests were not superspreaders “…in and of themselves.”.

“Mesa” candidates? 🌵🤔

Frankish is knuckles deep into a conspiracy here. Apparently, the guy responsible for steering the federal government through the development of vaccines secretly aligns with the liberal d anti-vax crowd by being the president….who steered the federal government through the development of the vaccine they are “anti” about. The genius of the plan really shows when he took the vaccine and the follow up booster, employing the “dog whistle” technique wherein getting the jab really sends the message that you’re against it. To be fair to @The Frankish Reich here, if one is determined to buy into another Trump conspiracy ploy, this one is good as urine and Russian hookers was already taken.

You must be into the egg nogg early today, Frankish. As of 12/24/21 at 1:11pm, we have a number of vaccines to treat COVID available. Citizens are free to be vaccinated or not, unless of course you work in a super-spreader environment currently defined by your boi Joe as "working for a big company or in some cases, government.". Donald Trump was vaccinated in January, and was President when the vaccine was being developed. He spoke about it frequently, in fact, did so as your Biden/Harris team spread misinformation to their supporters about the trustworthiness of the vaccine. He held many press conferences to keep the public informed on the progress. Interestingly, if polls are to be believed, a large portion of the anti-vax folks you mentioned historically voted democrat , and the message point delivered likely caused massive delays in seeking out the virus for those only vax-hesitant. So, it seems quite logical that anti-vaxxers you've described would have jumped off the Trump train long, long ago when his admin worked with the pharmaceutical industry to develop the vax to begin with. Given that he was previously vaccinated, it seems not at all unusual that he would seek out the booster shot. Interestingly, one of the major problems seems to be that a majority of people previously vaccinated aren't rushing out to get boosted quite yet: https://www.forbes.com/sites/brucejapsen/2021/12/02/poll-significant-uptake-in-booster-shots-in-us-as-omicron-looms/?sh=40a9a913e692 Now, the cool part is that with DJT continuing in the pro-vax/pro-booster camp, the mixed messaging delivered by team Biden can be marginalized. You should be happy about this. And holy crap, look at this article. On the watch of the Biden admin, turns out the books may have been cooked and we really cannot trust the number of people who got only one of the required two shot cocktail: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-12-18/vaccine-data-gaps-point-to-millions-more-in-u-s-who-lack-shots I really think if folks followed DJT's lead, we really would be in a much, much better place. Instead, we've got some people actually supporting the spread of disinformation by current leadership by referring to it as good old 'political gamesmanship", in spite of the spiking numbers of infected and dying during a pandemic. Some people, huh? However, when a solution is delivered table ready to a team lead by a person in the full throes of a steep cognitive decline, things are likely to get off track quickly. You probably should have known that. Anyway--you never responded on what you meant by suggesting that the protests last summer "in and of themselves" weren't problematic with respect to COVID. I feel like you got cold feet when asked to explain.

If the health and safety of the payers was the primary issue, the NFL would suspend or cancel the season. It's hard to imagine a more fruitful cocktail for spreading the virus than an NFL game with fans in attendance. Since that doesn't seem likely to occur, the league will field criticism regardless of what direction it goes in.

I figured, but where’s the fun in that?

Just went to Greenville for a long weekend in September, shot down to Clemson for a game as my niece and nephew go there. Greenville is cool for sure—lots to do. My understanding is it’s one of the fastest growing cities of some category in the country. Very nice town.

Have a Huppy Muppy Christmas, Mup! I’m a simple man. The first album I bought was by LS, around the time of the plane crash. The band has always held a special place in my heart as a result (music, friends, spending the Courier Express delivery money I had saved on the album), and I always liked the “pronounced leh-nerd skin-erd” on the album cover. To be completely honest by the time I realized that whiskey bottles, a handful of ludes, and a blow for my nose were not in my future, I was already in! Btw, I had to laugh at your first post here. Your friend Luppy, I’ve been filling in a number of four letter words to replace the asterisks, and any way I slice it she had a tough slug. 🤔

It's Time to Mandate Vaccines
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Interesting, and spot on. When Biden came up with 100+ employer group jamborama plan, it was obvious he was avoiding any potential issues with folks dependent on the govt having to vaccinate. It’s yet another reason people are distrustful of leadership and see a disconnect about what is said v what is actually done. It’s like his management team looked at every crappy product roll out from The Edsel to New Coke and followed that exact plan for his Pandemic Brand Management platform. -

Credit to @ALF and others here. They were predicting and advocating for the marginalization of certain members of society a few months back. -

Oh damn. That pesky led v lead thing again. Perfection is elusive, and I'll learn from this. Disclaimer: I struggle to consistently spell separate and satellite correctly, bureaucrat always trips me up, and I frequently spell kayak backwards. What did you mean by "...in and of themselves" as it related to the protests last year? -

That is exactly what I have said repeatedly. When did you first come to this country? Your command of the language is quite good.
