I’m not sure if I’d go with “if we can save one life…” or “if we don’t all mask at home, the COVID wins” here.

We certainly don’t need to reinvent the facts here. Comey’s statement on Clinton’s actions is pretty clear. There are laws that govern the dissemination of classified information, the law does not differentiate between accidental, unintentional, careless handling of classified information, and Clinton handled classified information in a way that potentially violated the laws governing such activity. What Comey said: “Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statues regarding the handling of classified information…”. He then went on to take the unprecedented step to publicly pre-absolve Clinton by suggesting the DOJ should not prosecute her for wrongdoing. That effectively neutered the DOJ, during a hotly contested election, with finger pointing on all sides, a short time before the election. This was Comey’s version of Special Dispensation. What we do know is that scores of people lined up behind Clinton to cast their vote for a life long enabler of a sexual predator and demonized of the victims who spoke out against her, who’s major accomplishment as Sect of State was to be humiliated by her most ardent supporters at the highest level of govt by being described as incredibly reckless with top secret intel, to have overseen the anarchy at the State Dept as it related to processes for protecting classified information, and to have been revealed as someone who really couldn’t be bothered with all the processes and procedures in place to keep our country safe. What a resume. It does, however, provide insight as to why these same gullible folk might vote for Joe Biden, who last night told all the world that if Putin only takes a few tiny bites of the Ukrainian apple it’s all good.

Trump's Hidden Papers Released by the Supreme Court
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Kemp's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So…you agree with Donald Trump and the myriad of other politicians/media types/talking heads espousing this particular statement to appeal to low information voters on this issue? Let’s get an update on the World According to Kemp: 1. Kemp believes if you engage the services of an attorney or other legal guidance, you’re guilty of something; 2. Kemp is part of the cult of Donald J. Trump with respect to the fact that asserting one’s privilege to decline to cooperate with inquisitors is indicative of guilt; 3. Kemp supports any investigation into an individual that may, or may not reveal anything; By the way, you never said what you think they’ll find when looking at the documents. You inferred there would be evidence of Trump funneling money to Putin and documents showing he ordered the murder of thousands of Americans. That’s some pretty wild stuff, but everybody believes something. What do you think will be in the papers? -
Trump's Hidden Papers Released by the Supreme Court
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Kemp's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So, you’ve pushed the narrative that availing one’s self of the protections afforded by the constitution somehow infers guilt in their part. A short time later, when asked to share what you think will be found, you suddenly become introspective. Gosh, no way to know, right? The sad fact is that you’ll never know and you’re not really smart enough to know it. You’ll hear exactly what the politicians on the committee want you to hear. You’ll get sound bites, text and paragraphs lacking context, and as they release it, they’ll tell you what to think and you’ll be convinced you thought up it all on your own. If you think Trump was funneling money to Putin and keeping a ledger in a file cabinet in the White House, or actually ordered the murder of thousands of Americans, why not just hitch your pants up, find some courage and say it? -

Little know fact: The only reason the Stones had the Hell’s Angels doing security at Altamont in ‘69 was because the Rotarian’s were running a car wash/bake sale grift that very weekend. Things could have been much, much worse. -
I think sometimes the the tendency is to overthink things. While rushing to judgment can make us all look a bit foolish from time to time, some things really aren't all that complicated. Excellent point on the school board.

All I can tell you is that man is 75 years old, he’s been a player on the big screen for most of those 75 years. He’s been a celebrity, an actor, a businessman, a billionaire, and most recently the president who was subjected to one of the most hostile and intensive deep dives into his life over a 4 year period. He has been accused of just about everything, by enemies standing to gain substantially by his downfall. The most common refrain is “everybody knows it”. Still, he stands.

DeSantis For President in 2024?
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Recently, our esteemed junior senator from upstate NY was caught entering and completely disregarding a local restaurant’s mask rules. The rules are in place because the governor of NY required businesses to have rules in place under threat of civil penalty. So, to sum it up, one of the most powerful politicians in the country, read in to many of the high level briefings about COVID unavailable to ordinary citizens, in a state with a governor for. Her party demanding compliance, chose to flagrantly disregard the mask mandate. This occurred within 15 miles of the gov mansion and seat of power in NYS. When you follow the actions v the words, you learn an awful lot about what they really think about the dangers posed by this virus. We’ll call this item number 314 on the top 500 list of COVID hypocrisy. https://nypost.com/2022/01/15/kirsten-gillibrand-walks-maskless-through-ny-restaurant/amp/ -

She also found the allegations of sexual assault against Biden credible, his relationship with segregationists troubling, and his history of being on the wrong side of legislation as it relates to the inner city as troubling. The only thing that changed her perspective was when he offered her something of value. But let’s just pretend that never happens in politics. -

The American Media Should Not Be Trusted
leh-nerd skin-erd replied to SCBills's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Most folks go through life without a problem with their neighbors or other members of society. We don’t have rioting or fights on very street corner. Most men aren’t out abusing women, most women aren’t dumping their children in dumpsters. Unfortunately, stories of most folks getting along for decades at a time don’t help to move a product that some people are trying to sell. -
Members of the media, with informants far and wide, and investigate skills to rival the best law enforcement officials of our time….had no idea that roughly 1 in 2 COVID patients were not in for COVID treatment at all. No insiders? No whistleblowers? No deep dives into one of the most incredible stories of our time? That seems preposterous. I see one of two scenarios here: 1. Abject systemic top-down incompetence; 2. Complicity in propagating the story when it made sense for them to do so;

Gee…it’s like suddenly, in the January before the midterms, things that simple folk already knew were worth discussing suddenly are worth talking about. The CDC has more variants than the COVIDS. -
Cole Beasley wasn’t the problem. He’s just a guy with a voice who chose to use it. I really have seen zero pushback from his teammates that indicate he was persona non grata. I have seen lots of people on the board with feedback ranging from support of Beasley to support of people who booed him. The vitriol came from that crowd. What struck me as weird was as the season ended, it seemed to me the tone changed from some folks being up in arms about Beasley and the health and safety of fellow man to hand wringing about the availability of a gladiator(s) to perform in the Coliseum on any given Sunday.

That goes both ways though. The folks upset about the Redskins name for decades. Lots of smoke, very little fire. The initiative to change the name went on for a very long time, had virtually no impact on the success of the franchise. Had the Skins remained the Skins, those folks would still be watching.

You’re correct here. Liz Warren and Amy Klobuchar, among others, complained about election security prior to the elections. I have the test run as Russiagate. It was incredibly successful for the Ds, so successful in fact that in spite of Mueller finding nahzink, Ds in this country bought it hook line and sinker.

You’re focusing on politics, and I disagree that many of these issues are political. Be that as it may, you’re viewing this through the wrong lens. When issues become large enough to reduce the inherent value of what amounts to entertainment, it’s no longer enjoyable.

That seems reasonable, though some people prefer to complain, unsubscribe, discontinue attending games or stop watching. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that.
