  1. They said the same thing about Drew Brees, who's 3 inches shorter than Barkley. Just saying.
  2. I'm not sure the Bills will be drafting high enough to get Geno Smith. Wishful thinking, but he could go #1 overall. I would be happy with Matt Barkley or even E.J. Manuel.
  3. It's more than just coaching, but players. We knew coming into this season that there was a big question at linebacker. It's proven to be an achilles heel. Unfortunately, you can't just coach away the lack of ability. You can of course change your strategies to limit those weaknesses, but this team has too many gaps to make that work.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised to see William Powell run for 150 and two scores today. Bills can't stop anyone.
  5. There's no way I start McKelvin and McGee right now. Williams and Gilmore need playing time. Replacing our young guys who are making mistakes with what only might be a marginal upgrade isn't going to mean the difference between wins and losses, particularly in pass coverage. This team is starting to show me much of what they showed me last year. They can't stop the run worth a damn, which ultimately lets teams use play action to move the ball through the air as well. What's sad to me is they have a top-5 rushing attack in the NFL, but that the defense is allowing almost 30 more yards per game to opposing rushers. Until they learn to stop the run, our starting cornerbacks are irrelevant.
  6. Fitzpatrick isn't the problem. The Bills by almost every measurable standard are a top-10 offense. The problem is that the defense still stinks. Teams have taken a lesson from last season and are simply running the ball. Until the Bills learn to stop the run, having a good pass rush really won't matter.
  7. I don't see the Bills winning this game. San Francisco just put up 250+ rushing yards on a Jets defense that's better then the Bills in stopping the run. San Francisco's defense is also much better than any team they've faced this year. Now add how go awful the Bills have been on the road. Let's look at the last 10 games going back to last year. 2-8 is their record. They are measurably worse on the road than at home and have to fly all the way to the West Coast.
  8. No team in their right mind would trade for that contract when the guy isn't performing. There's also no chance that the Bills just eat the remaining prorated portion of his guaranteed money, which would be an additional $37.70 million cap hit beyond what they're already taking. Poor logic to say the least.
  9. No question here. Turnover margin is the single most statistically relevant factor to wins and losses. Teams that are -3 or worse in turnover ratio only win about 3% of games. What does that tell us? Well teams that benefit from turnovers almost always win when they get extra possessions. Regardless of that, the defense for the Bills was downright awful. They allowed 200+ yards rushing AGAIN; 6.2 YPC; 19 first downs on rushing plays. Ridiculous! Their run defense is still one of the worst in the NFL.
  10. I don't know as though it would mean anything for me. Given that they've started off 0-2 in division games, beating the 49ers wouldn't mean a heck of a lot. I've said it before the season started and I'll say it again. They need to beat the Patriots and Jets in the next head to head matchups and sweep the Dolphins. Failure to do that and they're watching the playoffs on their collective couches in December.
  11. I had to turn the game off so as to not put a brick through my television. They kiss Brady's ass every time he steps out on the field. That, and Brady whines and begs for the calls on almost every play. Ridiculous how much the refs provide him with "lip service". Yeh, that's a metaphor.
  12. I don't like this game at all. The Patriots licking their wounds after back to back debacles of games and now gets a division rival Bills team coming off a solid win. I might even take some Vegas action on this game, with the spread just being 3 points.
  13. It's a nice thought, but completely unrealistic. If you spot the other team the ball at the 50 yard line possession after possession, they ARE going to score TD's against any defense in the NFL ever. To cause a turnover (interception) and then have Fitzpatrick give it right back is just lame. To say anything else greatly oversimplifies the situation. The offense didn't give the defense a chance today. -3 in turnovers and only about 3% of NFL teams will actually win those games. The run defense actually was good for the first time in 10 years. 3.3 YPC is atrocious. Spiller was the only bright spot on offense.
  14. OMG, I will laugh about this the rest of the day! This is absolutely priceless. Are they using Wilkerson to simulate Gilmore too? Hahahahahah.
  15. No worries. I like to get it right too. At the end of the day, the NFL really doesn't do any enforcement of the Probably/Questionable/Doubtful nominations, so it really doesn't matter. As someone else said earlier, it seems that Brady has been on the injury report pretty much every game coming back from his injury. It doesn't really mean anything. The good news is that the Bills coaching staff are saying that they expect he will be 100% and ready to play on Sunday. That's good enough for me!
  16. Obviously not or every QB in the NFL would have the same success that Romo just had. Ask lady-Brady how that's worked out in the last 2 Superbowls against the Giants. Your argument is so simplified that it makes no sense what so ever. There is no defense ever that equates to stopping the pass altogether. What point are you actually trying to make? Let's bet right now that the Bills are going to MAKE Sancez beat them with longer passes. The continuation of the problem with your argument there is that Romo CAN make the long throws. The Giants limited him to the short stuff for the most part because he's a good QB. Suck-chez doesn't have that luxury.
  17. You do know that anyone that does not practice or is limited at practice is listed as Questionable by the NFL, unless otherwise reported differently by the team. They don't have it updated under "Game Status", but other sports sites take the updates from the NFL and update their own. CBS Sportsline for example has a really good synopsis of all teams on their NFL sub page. See link: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/injuries
  18. The NFL updated his status as of yesterday and he was listed by them as "Questionable", as was Brad Smith. The NY Post is simply in error. Maybe they were pulling their own groins when they wrote it up.
  19. I believe I did. You were somewhat OK until you got to "Sanchez can make all the throws that Romo can". Then you might have just made the argument that Rex Ryan has a pet unicorn in his basement and that's why they're so damned lucky.
  20. To me, this game is extremely important. It's a division rival that has (in addition to the Patriots) had our number. It's a road game where the Bills went 1-7 last years. It's the first game for the biggest free agency pickups in possibly the history of the franchise. Some people say it's not necessary to win, but I believe that it's critical to the mentality of the players on this team. 4 of the first 6 games are on the road, including a potentially tough one at San Francisco in game 5. Off our bye, they get Houston and New England on the road back to back. I don't think that the importance of this game can be overstated. Beating the Jets in week 1 may be the difference between the playoffs and sitting at home watching the playoffs.
  21. I think the idea that you can compare the front 4 of the Giants to the front 4 of the Bills is an absolute joke. Mario Wiliams v. Justin Tuck at LDE: Mario is 6-6 and almost 300 pounds. He's a speed and power pass rusher. Justin Tuck is 6-5 and 268. One dimensional pass rusher, but still effective at what he does based on the schemes they run. Still Tuck has been hurt virtually every other year. Advantage Mario. Kyle Williams v. Linval Joseph at LDT. Kyle is 6-1 and 300 pounds. Pass rusher and run stopper. Linval is 6-5 and 328. Once again, he's one dimensional. He takes up space and doesn't really get after the quarterback. Advantage Williams. Dareus Williams v. Rocky Bernard at RDT. I'm not sure we even need to compare here. In his ROOKIE season, Marcel had 5.5 sacks. Rocky hasn't done that since 2005. Marcel is 6-3 and 320 compared to Rocky at 6-3 and 293. Marcel is bigger, faster and stronger. Advantage Williams. Mark Anderson v. Jason Pierre-Paul at RDE. Mark is definitely the one dimensional pass rusher here. For his career, he's been a situational pass rusher, but still managed 10 sacks last season. He's smaller at just 6-4 and 255 pounds. Jason could be the best pure pass rusher in the NFL. Proved it last year with 16.5 sacks. Now add Mathias Kiwannuka. Up until this year, he's been playing DE. Now they have him essentially as a DE but playing the strongside linebacker position. His job is still primarily to rush the quarterback. Compare him to Arthur Moats Did the original poster REALLY compare Tony Romo to Mark Sanchez and say Sanchez could make all the throws Romo could? This argument is beyond flawed and has absolutely no merit what so ever. Let's compare: Mark Sanchez - 782/1414 for 9,209 yards, 55 TDs, 51 INTs. QB rating of 73.2. That's 55.3% completion rate for 6.51 yards per attempt. INTs at 92.73% of TD's Tony Romo - 1672/2592 for 20,834 yards, 149 TD's, 72 INTs. QB rating of 96.9. That's 64.5% completion rate for 8.03 yards per attempt. INTs at 48.32% of TD's. It is borderline short bus to compare these guys. Romo's QB rating is 31% better. His completion % is 17% better. His YPA is 23% better. His ratio of INT's to TD's is 92% better. On any measurable scale, Sanchez doesn't measure up to Romo one bit. Sanchez was considered one of the worst QB's in the NFL last year and hasn't improved since his rookie season 3 years ago. Don't get me started on Tebow. The Bills beat his style down last year without Kyle Williams, Mario Williams and Mark Anderson. Sanchez factually cannot nor has ever proven that he can "make the throws" that Romo makes. Tannehill is a rookie and TBD, but has no weapons on offense. I'm always worried about lady-Brady, but they're loaded on offense just like the Cowboys are. But, if the Bills hold the Patriots to 24 points and lose by 7 in their first game, I will NOT be concerned one bit.
  22. Trash talking is juvenile no matter how you look at it. While it's great for fans to get excited about what we think our team is going to do this season, it accomplishes little else. Given where they've been (to the playoffs), and where they appear to be (awful in the preseason), why can't we be optimistic about the Bills chances? No team in the NFL did more in free agency than they did. That has to mean something.
  23. Tebow tastes Mark's junk He's no longer a virgin Bills win by a lot.
  24. Marignal player cut for underperforming. Who honestly cares? Talk to me about who they're going to sign to replace what appears to be an IR bound Brooks. Talking to me about who might be the 8th defensive lineman on the roster is as close to irrelevant as it gets.
