  1. The priority of QB is up in the air. IT really depends on if they believe EJ can turn into something. That said, with no #1 pick, one can assume that they have to keep him around along with Orton. Thus, I'd have a hard time believing that the team would go with a QB in round 2 when there are holes in the trenches that need to be filled.
  2. Ouch, that could be a career ender... two achilles surgeries in under 2 months at CB.
  3. I concur. I am hardly a Hackpologist, but the conservative gameplan made sense there. Let the Jests shoot themselves in the feet repeatedly and bear the fruits of their labor. That said, they did take shots down the field as evidenced by the three deep targets to SWatkins, which led to 14 points.
  4. Pff, Nick Foles looks like Jimmy!!! P.S. too bad we don't face Philly
  5. @Op Um.. I am baked right now, but whatever you are smoking must be much more potent than my green. This trade is not possible as the Clowns have our 1st round pick for next year. Secondly the Lucky Charms would never offload Peyton Gump II unless he has a career threatening long term injury.
  6. John, if you consistently have a line that can't protect the QB, you end up keep the TE in for blocking more, meaning the need for a receiving TE is diminished.
  7. Every team has busts in top couple rounds. DT was a necessity that has been filled instead by Dareus aka a draft pick after Torrell. That said TE has been a lower priority as higher needs have been present. Going into next year a Right Guard has to be a high priority and depending on Manuel's progress at practice a QB may also be in line as well. On D, help on the secondary may be in line. Those holes may take priority over a TE next year.
  8. It could be that the team has so many holes on it that using a pick on a TE, especially when they are very risky picks at the top of the draft, and that some of the better TE's came in the late rounds or were undrafted. Thus, the brass at OBD have deemed that they can do alright with late picks or FA's, as most other franchises have done in said period.
  9. They should hire the Bobs for consultants during this period. http://www.aroragary.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Aroragary-Office-Space-what-is-it-that-you-do-here1.gif
  10. Being honest, we are 3-3. If they end up with >=7wins, I think Marrone gets another year. If I were El Pegual, I'd want consistency, provided that the team is not in complete shambles at the end of the season (5 wins or less). I'd insist on a new OC, and making sure that the new guy is capable and competent, and can call a game without getting super pass happy with a mediocre QB in a close game.
  11. This, Marrone has made wise decisions with his DC's and defensive staff. Offensively, the only player that doesn't look worse is Freddy, which is amazing considering that he is the oldest back in the league. Wood looks worse in large part due to not having Levitre next to him. Urbik should be peaking and Pears should be at the beginning of his twilight in his career at this point. The receivers that have been here for more than a season look better this year than last. I hate to say it, but Chan would have probably done better with our quarterback mess this offseason, and possibly turned EJ into a functional QB this season. So out of the offensive staff, the ones who appear to be doing a good job are Rob Moore WR's coach, Tyrone Wheatley RB's coach (Spiller being the exception), and Greg Atkins (TE's) while Hackett, Morris, and the supposed QB guru Downing have been less than impressive.
  12. Yeah, I would love to go Angola (after E-bola is contained) donning Bills gear. I'd either be greeted kindly or kidnapped for ransom. Either way, I'd have a good story to tell.
  13. Year the player had his breakout: Last year's Pro Bowlers (ignoring the freaks) Antonio Brown 2nd year Dez Bryant 3rd year Brandon Marshall 2nd year Alshon Jeffery 2nd year The point is that there has to be patience amongst young players. As also mentioned, one has to take into account that 19 games into Woods career, he has caught the ball from 4 different QB's and is clearly a #2 or #3 option. As a second rounder, the expectations should not be at the same level as Sammy Watkins.
  14. Eric Moulds year 1: 20 receptions 279 yards 2 touchdowns year 2: 29 receptions 294 yards 0 touchdowns year 3: 67 receptions 1368 yards 9 touchdowns I use this example as most receivers don't do a lot in their first two seasons.
  15. If Manuel has a Knoblauch-esque career, then we'd be in good shape. 4 all star games and 4 World series rings. Replace that with 4 pro bowls and 4 super bowls? I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat.
  16. Going in reverse order here, EJ is not and has not been ready. However, the coaching staff thought he would have been. They failed him there as he looks like he has had some growth from last year to this. The offense is designed poorly as there was no one running up the middle of the field on the final drive. The coaching did the team no favors as there were no rollout plays or any other plays called to neutralize or go away from Watt. That is a play that is run in every modified level offense on up, yet not called once this season. This brings me to the point that if EJ is not capable of doing what you want, and he is the best you have, you better adapt your system to the strengths of him then. Catering a scheme to what works with Manuel is a great idea, making him throw 2 to running the ball once is a recipe for disaster for any young QB not named P. Manning, Luck, RG3, or Newton. You are trying to tell me that he can't do a three step drop and fire the ball out 7-10 yards? Come on man. If that is case (which I don't think it is), then he shouldn't have made it out of camp. Overall, two bad games in a row should never be enough to bench a QB. I think based on play call selection, that they were trying to tank to get Orton on the field when they realized that he is more polished than a young QB who had 10 starts in his rookie year.
  17. Good god, the Bills are so mismanaged. You don't bench the QB when the offensive gameplan was so god awful. EJ Manuel did have a bad game, but so did the O-Line and the Receivers. Any JV play caller could see that the Bills should have run the ball much more. A young QB who by all accounts should not be carrying the team should have never thrown the 44 times when JJ Watt was living in the backfield and the running game was very effective but used only 23 times. The Bills have had a history of ruining young QB's by pulling them in and out frequently, putting the QB in before he is ready to start, and giving horrifically bad gameplans that don't fit the strengths of the QB and other offensive personnel. In this all three apply. Let's hope that either they figure out everything and have success or that Nate Hackett at least is canned after the season.
  18. No, especially if the play calling remains so mediocre. Why were they abandoning the run at common sense times? You have two of the best RB's in the conference, while JJ Watt is living in our backfield, what do you do?
  19. Levitre was injured last year in the offseason and Buddy/Doug knew it so they weren't going to give him franchise $. The breasts knew that he was hurt (based on giving him a physical) and still gave him a ridiculous deal on the basis of hoping he would recover. Well done to the country bumpkin and his protege for not signing him for that $.
  20. EJ needs more time to develop, but there has been improving from last year to this year. That said, Aikman was the 90's era Eli Manning. What QB makes the Pro Bowl with 11 touchdown passes or more picks than TD's? He averaged a TD/ game for his career. The fact that he is a hall of famer is a joke. The stars of that offense was everyone but him. Those teams won with Steve Beuerlein, Jason Garrett and Rodney Peete filling for Aikman and in some cases did better in relief than Aikman. That line plus Irvin, Harper, Novacek, Moose, and Emmitt were more important than Troy. Also, Aikman was 0-11 his rookie year. Steve Walsh got the win that season.
  21. Sounds about correct. I will echo what another poster said earlier in the thread, I'd rather have the replacement refs back. They were terrible but fair.
  22. Gates, Weddle, Scifres. SD is really a clone of our team in the sense that many of their strengths are our strengths. These 3 would make the most impact over what we have, though I was grasping at straws for the 3rd one. Rivers would also be a good add, but I'd rather develop our own QB.
