Draft AJ Hawk, Switch to 3-4??
1billsfan replied to HarkinBanks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just started a thread on bringing back the k gun. I didn't read your post today before I started that thread, sorry about that. At least I know you're on board with the return of the k gun. -
BRING BACK THE K GUN OFFENSE. Yeah I said it. With Levy back in the fold and Sam Wyche, who's the father of the hurry up offense, the Bills need to take drastic measures and make Sam our OC and make our team fast and loose on offense once again. We have Parrish as our #3 receiver, we have Kevin Everett as our TE, Lee Evans, Willis McGahee, Eric Moulds. We have real speed for our offensive skill positions. We even have a pass catching RT we could use as a weapon. I also think the Bills should go after Jim Kelly for the role of QB coach for obvious reasons. Here's another shocker, the Bills need to release Kelly Holcomb. There's no sense in developing an offensive philosophy that suits the starter yet is totally foriegn to the backup. Losman and Holcomb are two completely different style of QBs. The Bills need to get an Aaron Brooks or another veteran like him that fits JP's style to challenge Losman in training camp. The offense needs to develop a specifically defined style of play and go with it. Revamp the K Gun offense and tailor it to the strengths of the players we have and lets let it fly with everyone on the same page and pulling in one direction. I think the key here is to get Bentley as a FA and maybe another stud offensive lineman (BTW, I'm truly hoping we can get a stud pass rusher like Mario Williams for our first round pick). I know I'll get a lot of chuckles out of this idea but I think the Bills should burn whatever offensive playbook they have now and dust off Marchibroda's blue print. So out goes Shelton and Cambell and in comes Parrish and Everett and away we go! Flame away people.

The first quarter 3 touchdown barrage on the Miami Dolphins showed me all I need to know about whether Losman can play in this league. The dude just needs some playing time just like all the other QBs not named Marino or Rothlesburger. JP has a great arm and he's got the wheels to avoid a pass rush and get first downs on broken plays. I feel confident that JP is the next great Bills QB. Flame away if you want, but I totally believe this. He will win the starting job next training camp and the only way he relinquishes it will be due to injury, not poor play. Mark it down baby.

Damn you Terrence McGee!

It's hard to make things happen when your not given a full 60 minutes of playing time. You forget that JP was yanked by Malarkey for Holcomb twice during his first four starts. We'll never know if JP could have pulled these games out a la what Eli Manning has done previously for the Giants. Malarkey pushed the panic button and lost his chance of having Losman gain confidence in himself and having the team gain confidence in him by Losman pulling out a come from behind win. Maybe this year Malarkey won't be so noncommital in his support for our QB of the future, maybe he can grow a pair and let the guy at least finish what he starts. We can only hope. -
This is the grand slam I'm hopin for people.

A ship that THEY ran aground. We WERE 5-11 this season, repeat after me...change is good...change is good. The last thing I expected today was a sky is falling post!

This team came apart at the seams this year. This is what bothered me to the point I want to see him gone: 1. Yanked JP during his first four games and didn't give him any chances to pull them out and gain confidence in himself and respect in the locker room. 2. Playcalling blunders. The list is a mile long but I really get steamed at the passes in the flats to the fullback with goal to go. 3. Pulling McGahee on third down. Outragously dumb move. 4. Getting into fights with his star players. McGahee, Moulds, Adams. 5. Lack of in game adjustments. 6. Lack of intensity, seems disinterested. I guess we'll see shortly where MM's standing in the organization is.

Marv Levy was known for getting the most out of his staff and players during his tenure here. Managing this mess is something I would much rather have him do then the man who created it. He's smart and will lean heavily on Modrak when it comes to player evaluations. I love this decision. If he can get Haslett in here as the DC or HC then it already will have payed off.

He's talking with Mike and the Mad Dog in New York and said he'd entertain coaching offers but doesn't expect any. I'd welcome him as the Bills head honcho, I might even cry too.

Blame game for the season
1billsfan replied to Gavin in Va Beach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TD 50% - Created the atmosphere of him being the real man in charge leading to two unsuccesfull head coaching regimes in a row (no one respected either GW or MM because of his ever present shadow). Not finding enough quality players for the trenches. MM 50% - This team underperformed plain and simple. We have at least .500 talent compared to other NFL teams. How did we finish last in so many critical categories? It's falls on the head coach. Hopefully it's goodluck and goodbye to both. -
Losman's "attitude" turned off teamates
1billsfan replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's emarassing at how this team and these coaches have either directly or indirectly laid the blame of this pitiful season on JP's lap. It's shamefull when you considered how many players underperformed and how @ss backwords the playcalling had been the whole season. I don't know if he's a keeper but I'm in JP's corner all the way, at least the guy tried every week. -
It seems the players only care to put forth a full 100% effort when Holcomb is the starting quarterback. The clueless head coach is trying to save his job. 1 + 1 = 2.
-
What???? The players have zero respect for this guy. All they do is talk to the media about what the head coach should be doing. Do you see any of the Patriot players talking to the media about personel decisions or play calling???? If you still think they run through walls for him notice the player performance in the Cincy game? Where was that level of effort thought the previous 14 games of the 2005 season???? Maybe they have no respect because they all know that TD is "the guy" calling the shots. I'm not so sure that a total house cleaning isn't in desperate need at OBD.

Mark Cambell's 2005 season: 16 catches, 129 yards, no touchdowns This clown needs to shut up about who should be competing for what job next season.
-
Speaking of Wiley, whatever happened to this guy? He was a very solid player for us then his career fell off a cliff. I know he's with Jacksonville now but I checked on NFL.com and he's only played in 4 games and he's got zero sacks.

The Bills that gave it their all

I'm assuming that scientific facts and the 2005 Buffalo Bills are worlds apart. -

I'm assuming everyone knew this was an opinion based on watching all of this season's games. This list is by no means a proven scientific fact. -

You make him sound like the second coming of Bruce Smith. Maybe I shouldn't have questioned his effort, but he's really only had a few big time games this season. Stats be damned. Do you think Schobel strikes fear into the opposition? He's a concern yes, but please don't make him out to be an all-pro here. He's not even on the same level as Taylor. -
Talk about lacking backbone! You want the Bills to trade away Losman???? That is the worst tail-between-the-legs decision that could ever be made. Why not try having a little thing called patience. Losman has skills that Holcomb has never and will never have on his best day, those are escapability and the ability to throw the ball deep. This hand wringing over Losman has grown to epic proportions, give this kid a break. Can you at least let him start more than a dozen games before throwing him under the bus by trading him away? Sheeez! Going into next season Holcomb will be the starter until... a) he doesn't produce and the Bills start losing games because of it ... or b) Losman clearly outperforms him in training camp/practices.

I'll buy that, this IS about the effort. -
The Bills that gave it their all

You may be correct on this. I just think he needs more consistency through the whole season and not the periodic 2 and 3 sack game. -
The Bills that gave it their all
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No he doesn't. He did play well in a handful of games but he dissapeared more often that not this season. I would equate his performance with that of Lee Evans, good but the effort was not there for the full season. -
Here's my list: London Fletcher Terrence McGee Takeo Spikes Angelo Crowell JP Losman Kelly Holcomb Jason Peters Mike Gandy Brain Moorman Rian Lindell I'm glad all will be back for the Bills next season.

There is no subsitute for real game action. The Bills need to use this game to better our team, not as an empty cosmetic win over a lousy team. Does anyone here think the Bills will lose against the Jets if they're playing the starters? No way the Bills lose. Playing the young players is the smart move. As an added benifit if they lose with their backups, the Bills could help their draft position AND hurt the Jets chances of getting Reggie Bush.
-
If Ralph knows Malarkey is safe and will be coming back next year he should tell him this week because we needs some answers on some of our young players. It makes no sense not to play the young players in the last REAL game before the 2006 season. I really wish that all the young players would play from the second quarter on. But unfortunately I don't see that happening.
