  1. Take a look at the Bills defense. There are a lot of veterans on that defense. This team has a chance at a good two year playoff run combining a player like Brett Favre and our receivers on the other side of the ball. Shore up the lines with a couple of free agent veterans and I see a team that would be very competitive. We already have one of the best special teams in the NFL. As for rookie runningbacks please take a look at Cadillac William's season. It's a fact that with JP as our starter, this team will lose out on it's current defensive window. In my scenario JP compete to be the starter in 2008. Laugh all you want but I'm just looking at a way for the Bills to compete in 2006 and 2007. If Brett was all for signing on for the next two seasons with our team you'd turn him down? Brilliant!!
  2. If you think JP is better than Brett Favre then I can see why there a disconnect here. Think I'm the dummy? Think again. Look in the mirror bro.
  3. Brett's 36. You aren't.
  4. You're mocking a trade for Brett Favre when the Bills have JP Losman as their starting quaterback. Please don't tell us JP has more than Favre at 36. Also, the notion that WRs have nothing to do with interceptions is downright just wrong. BTW Plunkett, Elway and Brad Johnson all had Superbowl wins after the age of 36. Give Favre the horses and he could still be one of the best again.
  5. Favre is not that old when you consider how long Vinny Testeverte played. If he knew he had a solid team to make a run I think he might be open to the idea. Send them Willis McGahee and draft Lendale White with the eighth pick. Of course we'd absolutely need to get Bentley and another solid veteran for the offensive line. Get Grady Jackson for the DT position next to Adams. Retain Clements. The only hole would be to get a DE and I would hope they'd be able to get John Abraham for that. That my friends would be an instant playoff team!
  6. Talk about a red flag. This is a megaton warning flare that the Bills will once again not be picking the correct head coach. The fact that they're interviewing Jaroun for the head coaching position just made me ill.
  7. Sean Payton and not taking a look at Carthon? What has Payton done that Carthon hasn't? If Levy's looking at coordinators he should at least take a look at Maurice who's been tutored by the best coaches and he could bring in Pepper Johnson who's got 6 years worth of knowledge under Beliceck.
  8. Mike Sherman is to the Green Bay Packers as George Seifert was to the San Fransisco 49ers. This guy was no innovator and it seems like he rubbed many people the wrong way (i.e. lousy communicator). The only reason he has the good record was that he had a player named Brett Favre on his team. I'm really not liking what I've been seeing so far from this Marv Levy regime.
  9. I know I busted on Jim Fassel as our coach yesterday but I'm starting to reconsider the possiblity of him today. Out of all of these guys listed Jim Fassel would be the safest choice and that may not be such a bad thing at OBD. He could be the HC/OC with Wyche still as the QB coach and then bring in Dick Jaroun as our DC. This might just steady the ship and would be a vast improvement from the leadership we've had here the last 5 years. Do I think Fassel can win the big game? I have my doubts, but after watching Rivera's Bears get schooled I'm wondering if their defense was great because of the ridiculously easy schedule they had. Take a look at it if you get the chance, they played the lousiest offensive teams in the NFL. Cowboy fans are begging us to take Payton off their hands and Lewis would be another complete unknown. Our players may need a coach that has a tangible successful past rather than a roll of the dice.
  10. Interview: Payton Saunders Rivera Lewis Fassell Haslett Cotrell Then pick the best one for our team. Shouldn't be that difficult, right?
  11. Steve Smith is the player I thought Josh Reed would turn out to be.
  12. Haslett or Fassell huh? Gee, that's gonna really inspire our troops! Hey Marv, we don't need these jokers. Please bring in Ron Rivera and let him establish a real tough brand of Bills football. This team desperately needs an identity. Haslett or Fassell = no balls and zero respect
  13. Oops! I forgot, we're striving for mediocrity here. No thanks. Here's hoping the Bills land the next Lovie Smith, Marvin Lewis or John Fox.
  14. Why are we supposed to put our faith in someone just because this is where they want to be or because his wife is from Buffalo? That's an icing on the cake factor, NOT a reason for hiring him. Jim Haslett has a below average record, period. His teams were undisciplined and they were known for not living up to their potential. The Haslett detractors are looking for a head coach that will instill hard play and discipline to the Bills. Who cares if Haslett wants to be here, some fans don't want him here because we're looking for a winner not a guy with pom poms.
  15. Sherman sounds like he's too stubborn and full of himself. No good at delegating, no good at listening, plus he "thinks" he's Mike Holmgren, no thanks. Cottrell???? Think of it this way...two times every season the Bills would be facing "Cottrell vs Belichik" and "Cottrell vs Saban" head coaching matchups. Now that's a scary *ss thought to me, no thanks.
  16. Martz is not coming to Buffalo because Bobby April WILL be our special teams coordinator next season. That's the end of that story. As for Haslett, I think it's both funny and sad that the Bills would contemplate handing over the reigns to the fired coach of the New Orlean Saints. Just saying that sounds too funny to me. If it wasn't for the fact that Haslett once played for the Bills the fans would lynch someone for even considering that loser. Think of it for a second....Haslett will be going against Belichik and Saban twice every year. This is hands down a colassal mismatch to our two biggest rivals. The Bills would be well served to give a hard look at Ron Rivera. This guy is tough as nails and his Chicago defense IS what the Bills thought they were at the beginning of the 2005 season. It looks as if the Jets will land Mangini so I think that Rivera is the only other top candidate out there. Payton? I do like the fact that he's served for Parcells and has done a very good job for him. But I'd either want Ron Rivera or I'd want Levy to ask Vermiel if he was really serious about calling it quits. The Bills will be sorry if they think Haslett will be able to handle our out of control ballclub.
  17. Sorry to pour water on your Haslett bonfire but I have to do this, read this: http://www.bayoubuzz.com/articles.aspx?aid=5946 Rock bottom for us Bills fans would be the hiring of the FIRED COACH of the NEW ORLEANS SAINTS, just because he used to play for the Bills a long time ago. Worst decision ever for a team that needs some REAL direction and leadership. Haslett has none of these qualities.
  18. My point was to show how many head coaches succeed in their first jobs. It was not to breakdown the reason's for Belichik's and Shanahan's downfalls.
  19. So you want Fassel? The Giants laid down like dogs his last year with them. Haslett? The Saints for years have been notorious late season quiters. These guys are weasels and this current Bills team would eat them up and chew them out so fast it would make your head spin. They are experienced at getting fired for having their team's quit on them, at least Rivera would kick Moulds' ass if he ever pulled a no mas on him. That's what this team needs, a serious no BS *sskicker to get them in line and play as a team. Quiters and weasels need not apply.
  20. The problem is that these experienced head coaches you speak of have experience in failing and getting fired as head coaches. Look at the coaches in the playoffs this weekend. Only two of them were successfull after falling on their face in their first stints as head coaches. The other six were exactly the right fit in their first gig. You can't rule out first time coaching candidates for this reason alone. That's not even including Marvin Lewis who is obviously a success in Cincy. I got to tell you I'm not excited at all at the prospects of getting a Jim Haslett or Jim Fassel just because they were head coaches before. These two guys have had teams quit on them big time, not my idea of a good qualification for the Bills head coaching position. Seattle - Holmgren (1st time success in Green Bay) Washington - Gibbs (1st time success in Washington) New England - Belichik (failed in Cleveland) Denver - Shanahan (failed in Oakland) Chicago - Smith (1st time success) Carolina - Fox (1st time success) Indianapolis - Dungy (1st time success in Tampa) Steelers - Cower (1st time success) I'd still take a chance on a 1st time coach than a retread if the guy seems like the right one for us.
  21. ESPN radio is now reporting that the Bills have asked and revceived permission to talk to the Cowboy's Payton regarding the Bills head coaching job. Haslett has yet to be contacted. 90% of Haslett???? I may not be a supergenious but I think I'd lay my money on the guy who at least has an interviewed lined up.
  22. Kind of like that "Life Cereal" commercial... First Kid: "I don't want Jim Haslett!" Second Kid: "Yuck! Me Neither!" First Kid: "Hey, let's give Haslett to Buffalo! They'll take anybody!"
  23. I think Haslett's toughness is an act. Rivera's toughness seems real, like any-minute-he-could-knock-your-head-off kind of toughness. ...btw, is anyone else sick of the media shoving Haslett down our throats?? If I hear he's a "good fit" one more time I'll freakin lose it!
  24. Mike who???? Sorry, not ringing a bell.
  25. http://www.chicagobears.com/team/coachbio.jsp?id=33 This guy would scare the bejesus out of the all-talk players on our team. Just what this team needs too.
