What the Bills should do before Draft Day
1billsfan replied to Stiffler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unfortunately Huff, Justice, Ngata and Bunkley will be off the board by the 17th pick which automatically would make the Bill's draft a complete disaster. The only way I could stomach a trade down was if the Vikes gave us a 2nd AND a 3rd. The talent of the first round drops way off around pick 14 or 15. -
Don't look for the Vikings to trade up
1billsfan replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe "something extraordinary" is Young or Cutler getting within reach. Even Zigi knows they aren't dropping to 17. -
Unless the Bills plan on trading Losman to the Niners to switch picks, V. Young will be a Raider.

2006 Draft - Most over hyped ever
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's looks too small and NFL defenses are much faster than those in college. Sorry, but if he were so good why wouldn't the Jets be interested in trading into the top pick to get him? -
The players in this draft have been strangely over hyped. My comments on the supposed top ten: Bush - if he's so good why aren't teams clammoring to get the top pick to get him???? Williams - looks great, but it's been said time and time again that he doesn't play hard Leinart - he's seen as the best QB (do the gurus know that V. Young declared?) DBrick - a OT that can't run block...yippee! AJ Hawk - he should be a good one Huff - looks like he'll be a worthy top 10 pick Davis - looks more into body building and looking good than being a tough hard nosed tight end Young - (see Huff) NGata - dude looks completely out of shape Justice - any hint of being a pot head and I'd cross his name off the board I don't think the top players are the can't misses that everyone is saying they are. The more I look at this class the more I see Hawk, Huff and Young as being the only potential probowlers in this group.

Ok, can someone tell me why this guy has slipped this far???? 63. Seattle Mathias Kiwanuka, DE Boston College If he's there in the second Marv had better pick him and tell the high-motors Denney and Kelsay to drive on over to the bench!

Mel Kiper on Mike & Mike this morning
1billsfan replied to FightClub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hawk is a gamer and this team needs gamers. I'm all for D'Brick if he's there, but passing over Hawk to pick a question mark like Justice is something that would be very foolish on the Bills part. There's always the 2nd and 3rd rounds for offensive lineman. -
The Vikings are sheduling a visit with QB Cutler.

Why no mention of Tamba Hali? If he were there, I'd take him over those players. -
Losman and Evans looking forward to Week 2
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the Bills are up 21-0 in the first quarter again you can bet your @ss that Jaroun isn't pulling out the Roscoe Parrish at QB pass play. The real big plus here is that the Bills will be benefiting from Malarkey's head scratching gadget playcalling that day. Miami's in the red zone? Cover the fullback! -
No. The Bills are in perfect position to draft an impact player in the first round THIS year. Let's not roll the dice hoping a second rounder and a pick in a future draft will be a hits. Don't even think about it Marv.

Losman and Evans looking forward to Week 2
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would love to see that press conference if he were to lose to us, I think his head would explode. -
Yes, the Bills will lose to the Pats in Week 1. But looking at the Miami game I think the Bills can take them. Culpepper won't be ready or he'll no doubt be rusty and the Losman to Evans connection has shown the ability to light up the scoreboard down south. I just don't think that Miami is as good as they and the media think they are. Remember us coming into last season after our late season winning streak? I'd love it if the Bills knocked them off their high horse in Week 2.

Anyone think we could land Hawk and Bing
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know what you're saying, but think of the shorter fields the offense would be playing with all season long. As for your list, I think Justice would be spending all his time and money on the Canadian Ballet. However I do like Joseph in the second. -
I know we need serious help on our lines but if Hawk and Bing fall to us in the first two rounds I think the Bills would be crazy not to pick them up. Sign Grady Jackson and our defense becomes very nasty! Can you imagine a defense with Spikes, Hawk, Fletch, Clements, McGee, Bing, Vincent, Tripplett, Jackson and Schobel? Wow! The third and fourth rounders could be used for the offensive and defensive lines with players like Trueblood OT, Spencer OG and McCargo DT.

So far on draft weekend we have 10 picks
1billsfan replied to Thailog80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're kiddng, right? -
Moulds has had 10 TDs in the last three years (3.3 per year average). That and the fact I've had it with this topic is the reason I'm actually glad he's gone. We can now talk about something else besides Moulds for a change. Bills fans don't need to pine for players that were looking for the door.

JP looked rough last night on the Telethon
1billsfan replied to Billsjunkie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well I'm convinced. Nall is the man. Hard to see how JP will be able to take back the QB reigns after this one. Wow, I'm so glad now that the QB situation is settled. -
Don't expect us to draft the big names.
1billsfan replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Attitude. The Bills defense lacked the killer attitude when Spikes went down and was in dire need of an attitude adjustment. Fletch is the man but he's getting old real quick in a position that takes years off your NFL life. You also got a gimpy question mark with Spikes. I could easily see the Bills not letting a player like AJ Hawk go by them. -
Kiper on tonight's Sportcenter..first round mock
1billsfan replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dude I LMAO when I read this. Bravo! -
I'm all for the 3 horse QB competition of which I think JP will win handily. I'm hoping that it was Malarkey's deep ball play calling that did in JP's passing rate. If Holcomb wins it then fine, but I think he sucks and the Bills will certainly be in a heap of trouble if he's our best QB coming out of training camp.
-
Holcomb = 8 men in the box End of story.
-
You really don't understand what the threat of the long ball will do for an offense. Here's a hint: the threat of the long ball opens up the running game. You seem to be fixated on completion percentage which obviously is the one thing Holcomb can do well. What you don't take into account is that these are all short passes and quick slants. These are routes that defenses are basically giving you since they have so many players in the box stopping the Bills' running game. Yes, JP has yet to learn the importance of checking down to the more sure target. But JP also is a gunslinger that has a live arm which he has proven can connect on deep passes. JP has also shown the ability to escape and pick up first downs with his legs. These are two critical skills that Holcomb will never ever possess. At least JP can learn to increase his passing percentage by throwing to the shorter routes when it is more beneficial to do so (remember, he's had only eight games). Holcomb will never be able to throw deep or escape pass rushers and JP never looked as bad as Kelly did against the lowly Jets. Losman will be the Bills starter and Holcomb will end up being cut or the clip board holder. Sorry, but I guess we're polar opposites on this subject.

IS Moulds Suppling the Rumors to the media
1billsfan replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't believe that Philly isn't pulling out all the stops to get Eric. That team is dog doo doo if they don't get a qualified receiver this off season. What good is your third round pick when your window to winning a Superbowl is closing faster than Andy Reid in an all-you-can-eat buffet. -
Another thing lost on a lot of people is the fact that many of the malcontent veterans on this team played just as badly as JP and showed a lot less effort than the kid did. A lot of "It's not us, it's the kids fault!" in that 2005 season. That team was both physically AND mentally weak. Enough of the hand wringing and let the best man win the QB competition. Then shut up and do your damn job.
-
JP had 3 more passes over 40 plus yards than Kelly. JP had 1 more pass over 20 plus yards than Kelly. (These are game changing type plays) JP had 7 fumbles and lost 3, Kelly had 13 fumbles and lost 5 (Hmm...Kelly had 6 more fumbles and do I have to remind you of the last game of the season?) JP had 154 rushing yards (5 yrd ave), Holcomb had 11 (.6 yrd ave) (That equals 15 1st downs vs 1) Sorry but JP's stats look much better than your Kelly Holcomb's stats and he will certainly beat out Holcomb and Nall in the next few months when his completion percentage improves.
