What do you think are chances 4 starting QB?
1billsfan replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That Nall "clearly" has the most upside? That Holcomb is our very solid plan B? You sound as if you're wishing and hoping there wasn't going to be this "silly" QB competition. Could it be that you don't trust your boys Nall and Holcomb to buck up and beat out Losman? This isn't telethon hosting we're talking about, this is football. -

You're hanging your hat on a high QB rating of a player who's had a total of 33 passing attempts in the NFL? That's too funny. -
its finially starting to sink in

And how they know that our defensive line sucks already is truly amazing. They saw the future and Triplett and McCargo just couldn't cut it. Bummer. -
Want improve this team big time?
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did you know that Steve McNair had more passing yards than Donovan McNabb and Ben Roethlisberger last season? Did you know he started 14 games? I don't know if you're fat or drunk but you're definitely stupid if you don't want Steve McNair over our current cast of clowns at QB. -

I'd get him for a shot at winning those first two games at NE and at Miami. If he gets hurt after that then we still have JP on the bench. -
This team would have a legit shot at the AFC East. The Pats are worse after losing Vinatari, Givens and McGinest. The Jets will flat our suck for obvious reasons. and the Dolphins will be having major problems at QB until Culpepper can get healthy again. Why stay in the East...heck, the Steelers lost Bettis and Randel El, ya think that will have a negative impact? Colts? No Edge will be a major problem. If I were Marv I'd try for McNair sending Holcomb packing and Losman to the bench. This would instantly make the Bills a playoff contender. Here's hoping that Steve McNair is at least being discussed at One Bills Drive.

Charles Robinson's draft grade
1billsfan replied to Crap Throwing Monkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ernie Sims was taken one pick after Whitner. Are you telling me there's that much of a difference in their player ratings? In fact, Sims seems like a bigger gamble since the guy's a midget for a linebacker. I don't get why Buffalo is the one getting the beat down. At least Witner has the size to project as a bonifide stong safety. -
Kiper's Grades: Gave the Bills a "C"
1billsfan replied to Lurker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not only that but player rankings were pointless from players 20 to 40. They all had such similar grades so teams were going for need only at that point. The one position the Bills absolutely needed was DT, hence the trade up to make sure no one else took the guy they wanted all along. The media needs a draft whipping boy and the Bills are it. It will be all the more fun when these players stick it to them with their play. -
I didn't say they were long term solutions. But generally you can't fix a team that has so many holes in one off-season. At least there's a good chance they'll be much better than Teague and Anderson who were the bottom of the barrel at their positions. At least the Bills have a plan even if that plan included temporary plugs on the line. TD didn't draft for defense so Marv had to clean up his defensive mess.
-
The receivers in this draft sucked plain and simply. Neither of those players will be able to replace the production of Randle El or David Givens. You seem to be enamered by 40 times and reps. Sorry, but the Bills were looking for football players not workout warriors.
-
They've been trying to improve the areas your talking about: Offensive line addressed - Bills sign Fowler C and Reyes OG, Preston will be the other OG. Defensive line addressed - Bills signed Triplett DT, draft a new starter in McCargo DT and backup Williams DT So when the FS and SS positions were the gaping hole in the D this season (which there would have been a high probability of), you'd be able to not rip Marv and Co. for failing to address this area in the off season? Yeah right. BTW, before sitting down to grade any team's draft you need to wait a couple of years at least.
-
I give your post a solid F. This team is moving on from the slacker unmotivated bad character types and replacing them with guys who will run through walls on every down. It's been working for the Patriots for a long time now. You know who the Pats are, right? They're the team that's been kicking our sorry lazy asses for years now. Give it a rest and try to enjoy watching players who actually try on every down.

The biggest loser was Leinart. Banks losses all cred with his "story" after failing to not only put him on but to have him at the top of the list. 40 million big ones is was most pundits have said. So Denver had a good draft? They picked a guy that won't be playing until 2008 (not smart when you're a win now team). San Diego picked a player that has had only 1 start in college. The list can go on and on. No one knows what these players will do including the players themselves. I liked our first day draft a lot. I was worried about our holes at SS and DT and now I'm not worried anymore. I see what the Pats, Fins and Jets did and I think we gained a lot of ground after yesterdays picks. I can't wait for todays festivities!

No, but he forgot to put Bunkley somewhere in the first round.

With Favre coming back look for GB
1billsfan replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's something else to consider. What if New Orleans gets hand strapped into taking Mario Williams and Hawk falls to the Bills? If I'm Marv I'm letting New Orleans know that we'd be willing to give them Hawk (if he feel to us), one of our 3rd picks (which NO currently doesn't have), our 4th and our first pick in the 5th round. That would give the Saints Hawk and 3 extra picks in a deep draft. I think they could be tempted into trading us Mario Williams for that. -

You do realize that Aaron Brooks is their starting QB? There's a very good chance the Raiders pick Young over Hawk if both are there. -
...sliding down to us. SF will pick Huff, OAK will pick Young then it will be a white knuckle decision for the Bills. Bunkley or Hawk. I'm almost hoping they aren't in this position. We really do need Bunkley over Hawk.

Players we have no chance in getting,
1billsfan replied to SoCal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know what he's smokin, but whenever he's talking to one of the draft eligible college football players on his Sirius NFL radio show he sounds like he's talking to some hot chick. It's kind of creepy. -
Bills focused on Bunkley?
1billsfan replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure of why there's so much Bunkley bashing going on here. This guy had 22 tackles for loss of yardage and he had 9 sacks last season. I was watching a Senior Bowl recap show on the NFL network the other day and it showed Bunkley knocking Max Jean Gilles backwards like he was hit by a cannon ball. The guy is strong like an ox and doesn't have a rap that he doesn't always play hard like Ngata does. I will not be upset if he's our pick. Would I like it if they traded down to pick him a few spots later? Of course, but that's risky for a team that needs one of the DTs or Justice. They could end up with none of them after trading down. I say if Bunkleuy's their guy then don't get cute, just go ahead and take him with the eigth pick Marv. -

Ngata "one of two best defensive players"
1billsfan replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right, I followed Vince's link to the player's evaluation and that where I found a few of these nuggets (I know, I know, every player has negatives. I just don't want our first pick being a player who's negative is lacking intensity or drive. We had enough of that in Mike Williams). http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2006/ngata_haloti NEGATIVE COMMENTS: Plays upright and high often, and doesn't attack the play consistently -- doesn't play with a sense of urgency on every snap. Additionally, has not proven that he works very hard off the field to stay in shape, which will hinder his ability to be durable. The question is whether he becomes the dominant interior player that can dominate games consistently, and that is completely dependent on his willingness to committ to the game off the field and get in better shape to attack every play with a sense of urgency. Ngata has a bad habit of losing focus during game, and it leads to him popping straight up at the snap and doesn't attack the line of scrimmage -- when he does that, he can't get a push on a bull rusher and can be pushed off the line of scrimmage on inside runs. Doesn't consistently use his hands to protect his legs from cut blocks and really gets slowed down by them. He is clearly soft bodied and not in the best of shape, and if he doesn't get into better shape, he will struggle to be the player he is capable of being. When he is aggressive, he is an outstanding bull rusher that can drive the offensive lineman into the quarterback's lap. Too often he plays high and without a sense of urgency, and doesn't protect his legs from low blocks. Overall production has been very good, but tends to waver between excellent and adequate due to his not playing aggressively on every snap. When he attacks the line of scrimmage, Ngata uses his hands aggressively and hustles from snap to whistle. Makes a lot of plays and completely disrupts them in the backfield. The trouble is that at times he pops straight up at the snap and seems content to be pushed around at point of attack -- doesn't use his hands aggressively and can't shed once blockers that get a hold of him. Ngata's pride might take a hit because his build is very soft and fleshy, which ponts to him not showing the discipline or work ethic off the field to stay in good shape. The big issue for Ngata mentally is his inability to maintain his focus and concentration, which leads to him not playing with leverage or intensity on a regular basis. -
Ngata "one of two best defensive players"
1billsfan replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Improved your estimation???? In that article I read a lot about him being an out of shape player who doesn't play hard. At least Justice is in shape. I'm leaning towards the Bills getting Justice, Huff or Davis. I'm not liking what I'm hearing about Ngata at all. -
I read a quote from Joseph saying that Reuben Brown was the player he'd looked up to the most in terms of offensive lineman. Hmmm, must be a closet Bills fan. As a sleeper side note, I betcha Marv and Dick are also looking at that perenial All-Ivy leaguer Kevin Boothe and Anthony Smith. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...evinboothe.html http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingr...thonysmith.html Forget Texas and Florida let's get some NYS players in here!

What the Bills should do before Draft Day
1billsfan replied to Stiffler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills need a starter in the first round, not another project.
