  1. It's a nice and sunny day in Miami, you are 5-1 and this is the first game against your division. Maybe I do put too much stock in this psychology stuff and how starting off the game by giving your opponent the opportunity to do what the Dolphins did became an undercurrent for the entire game, but I do happen to buy into it. Jauron doesn't lose games like this because he's the unluckiest coach ever, it's the "play not to lose" "playing in the NFL is tough" "every team is tough" "let's be cautious and not attack them" attitude that oozes into the young players brains and plays out in often too painful to watch death march losses the Bills have become so well known for these last three years.
  2. It removed all doubt that Miami had regarding whether they could beat the mighty 5-1 Bills. That quick 7-0 lead was the foundation of the loss. It was the first domino to fall. After that deferral and the subsequent Miami touchdown, I thought they were going to lose that game even when they had the lead and I'm sure I wasn't the only one who thought that way. Jauron just doesn't realize that players want the ball and attack their opponent as quick as possible. However, Jauron thought it better to let his team know he had no plans on getting on top of the Dolphins and take them out of the game early. He wanted a dogfight, he got his dog fight and the dog bit him on the ass just like it did against San Francisco. You have no clue how much psychology plays into an NFL game buddy.
  3. You remind me of those chicks in the movies that have been battered by their boyfriend and are telling the cops that he'll change, that he'll become a good boyfriend eventually. Please stop with the comparisons to Jeff Fischer. BOTH HIM AND DICK ARE THE SAME AGE! One guy has had a brilliant head coaching career and one guy had a forgetful losing head coaching career. Your point would have vaiidity if this was a young coach we were debating about like Fischer was all those years ago. But that's not the case. Jauron is a complete failure as a head coach and he's got eight whole losing seasons under his belt as proof. And if that doesn't convince you then look at how his team was beat at home by lousy teams like Cleveland and San Francisco. It's over for Dick Jauron, he's had more than enough chances to prove he was the next Jeff Fischer.
  4. Why would the Bills want Jim Fassel? Granted he did get a team to the Superbowl, but he did little else that says he is anything but a mediocre head coach who got mediocre results ending with him getting a pink slip. Does this not sound very similar to Dick Jauron? Jim Fassel is the LAST guy the Bills should be looking at. Mediocre retread ex-NFL head coach. Sorry, been there done that time for real CHANGE!
  5. Miami, Atlanta and Baltimore fans are all laughing at you right now.
  6. Why in the world do you want the Bills to hire Dom Capers as the next head coach?! Could there be another former coach that is the mirror image of Dick "the biggest freaking loser" Jauron?! This team needs fresh air and new blood and Bobby April or Dom Capers is neither fresh air and new blood. Raheem Morris is being called the next Mike Tomlin who you apparently feel is another George Seifert. That's a ridiculous statement. Tomlin is clearly going to be the next great NFL head coach. He will have the same career as both Cowher and Fischer. If you can't see that then maybe that's the reason why you are so high on April and Capers for the Bills head coaching position.
  7. You don't defer to the second half and let your QB wait a half hour from pregame warmups to his first snap of the game on a cold and nasty late November day.
  8. I think one of our major weaknesses when we get into divisional games is the predictability and conventionality factor that weighs them down heavily like a big 'ol ship anchor. There's no suddeness or adaptability. There's no adjustments on the fly. That's what a new, fresh and passionate football guy would bring here. That's what this team needs. We don't know if Morris is that guy of course, but from what I read he certainly hits all of the marks on what I hope they hire. Heck, he even made Phillip Buchannan into a football player. Seriously though, our team needs a guy who will make it a point to keep the opposition on their toes instead of knowing everything we are going to do from kickoff to the final tick of the clock. I hope the Bills give a good look at Morris.
  9. I don't know why you're getting on Silver's case, I've been the one guy trying to getting Morris' name out there. Did you know that Mike Tomlin was never a defensive coordinator? In fact he had the same position that Morris holds at Tampa when he was hired by the Steelers, secondary coach. The Steelers smartly decided to hire a guy that was an authentic football coach. Is that what Raheem Morris is? Well you're right in that we have not much to go on but an article, but that doesn't mean that he can be dismissed as not being the real deal. I'm not going to apologize if I do take Monte Kiffin and Rhonde Barber at their word on this guy's future as a football coach. Two guys, brilliant football coach and a current player who's had a great career. These guy's glowing support should at least be enough for the Bills to take a serious interest in him as a potential head coach. The Bills should smartly do what the Steelers did and hire an authentic football coach. We know what we get with an NFL retread...no excitement, no direction, no creativity. Is that what you want? How about the Bills hire a guy that truly will light a fire under this team like the rookie coaches in Miami and Atlanta have done who by the way were never NFL coordinators but positional coaches when then were hired. Tired of gambling on inexperienced coaches? Since when was Dick Jauron considered an inexperienced coach after having spent 5 years in Chicago? This team needs a guy who can in fact elevate the players' passion on this team. A retread will not do that. A guy like Morris would actually do that. If former positional coaches can change doormats like the Falcons and the Dolphins, there's no reason why a no frills tough guy like Morris couldn't do the same thing here.
  10. The problem that I see is that a guy like Morris, if he doesn't get a head coaching gig this year, will no doubt become Tampa's DC in 2009 (replacing Kiffin who's leaving to help coach his son's team) and in turn become the top head coaching candidate for 2010. We Bills fans will be first round wildcard losers in 2009 with a guy like Marty but knowing full well that he will never be able to deliver the Bills beyond a wildcard game much less a Superbowl team. This team needs to really think outside the box and take a big chance on a young coach like Morris. This may be the only time the Bills have a chance at nailing down a real gem that they will never get once their names become household. The Bills will have no shot at Morris next year. Just like they have absolutely no shot at getting the Giants DC this year, who would have taken the Bills job this year if they did the right thing and fire Jauron after the 2007 season ending tank job.
  11. Here are my specific problems with your "options"... These coaches you mention are losers and colossal NFL failures: Capers Shell Tice Wannestadt These coaches are too damn old: Mora Vermeil These coaches only won because of talent: Sherman success = Favre Martz success = Vermeils' Ram juggernaut This coach has an ego the size of Texas: Billick That leaves us with: Schottenheimer Reeves Green Fassel Marriucci Out of that list I could see only Schottenheimer or Marriucci as viable options and decent fits with the Buffalo Bills. Schottenheimer because the guy does win an awful lot and Marriucci because I think he's a pretty decent head coach who'd be good at preparing and motivating our talented young players. As for Reeves, Green and Fassel, they look road hard and put away wet at this point. I think those three carry way too much baggage to ever become winning NFL coaches again. So giving you those two on your list, I'm asking you to read the Raheem Morris article that I linked to and tell me just how anything you read looks like the second coming of either Williams or Malarkey. Williams was a coaching poser who had almost as big of an ego as Billick without the success and Malarkey was clearly a poser who's players never gained any respect for him. In both cases it wasn't because they were new coaches, it was because they never had the authenticity which NFL players can smell a mile away. So go and read the article on Morris, he clearly is what this team needs. An authentic football coach. Another NFL head coaching retread is not the CHANGE we Bills fans should want or need right now. http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/aug/14/sp...s-touch/sports/
  12. How about the Buffalo Bills do the SMART thing and forget about all of the NFL retreads you have mentioned. Other than Cowher (who is not going to come here) all of these guys are either too old or have been proven to be failures as head coaches if winning championships are what you are after if you're the team owner. Why didn't the Dolphins, Falcons and Ravens follow your advice and hire any of those guys on your list? It's becuase they are smart teams that wanted to hire the best coaching option for their team... http://www.nfl.com/teams/miamidolphins/coa...ad&team=MIA http://www.nfl.com/teams/baltimoreravens/c...ad&team=BAL http://www.nfl.com/teams/atlantafalcons/profile?team=ATL Guess what? None of these rookie head coaches were on your list yet all are heading to the playoffs and two of them with rookie QBs Why didn't Pittsburgh hire any of those guys a couple of years ago? Because the were smart. http://www.nfl.com/teams/coaches?coaType=head&team=PIT The Bills should hire Raheem Morris who is the DBs coach for the Bucs and is widely considered the next Mike Tomlin. http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/aug/14/sp...s-touch/sports/
  13. Edwards looks just as sh_tty in bad weather as he did last year. It's so freaking hilarious.
  14. I guess no one would be laughing now if I broke out another Trent Edwards should stick around Buffalo to get acclimated to the cold weather post just like I did last year after he took off to California till March 08. Dick IS an idiot head coach and Trent IS a wussy QB. Yes, I was wrong on Losman, but I was right on those other two knuckleheads. So do the fans here still think that it wasn't a big deal that Trent left Buffalo for Cali to get away from the "scary" Buffalo winter weather? Both Dick and Trent deserve much of the ripping they are currently getting. Maybe if they had realized that it might have been a good idea to get used to playing outdoors in Buffalo, NY because their home stadium doesn't have a damn roof, they wouldn't have found themselves in such a precarious position now.
  15. You should freaking know by now that I'm not being sarcastic. Sorry Francis, but I don't gamble. But you can make a pretend bet with me and give the money you lose to charity.
  16. Give it up. Dick Jauron is the worst head coach in the league and he will be getting fired after his 6-9 team gets waxed by the Patriots to end the season.
  17. I'll always believe that the turning point was when the Bills won the coin toss on that nice and sunny day in Miami and Jauron deferred to the second half. The Dolphins quickly scored 7 points on our defense and the Bills never looked like that same 5-1 team from that moment on. It was a classic Jauron "play not to lose" conservative coaching decision, not believing in his offense, not caring to get points on the scoreboard and take it to the opponent in their first divisional game. He's a loser because he makes loser coaching decisions. It's no surprise this guy has a long history of being the head coach of losing teams.
  18. (bump) http://www2.tbo.com/content/2008/aug/14/sp...s-touch/sports/ "His passion for the game is what makes him a special coach," Bucs general manager Bruce Allen said. A former defensive back at Hofstra, Morris boasts the energy level of Chris Rock and the charisma of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. "It's the ability to communicate," Bucs assistant head coach Larry Coyer said. "Raheem has it and you can't learn it. Good or bad, he talks to the players in a positive way. You can't fake it - he is what he is. I'd say he has an unlimited future in this league." With the Bucs on their way to an NFC South title in the fall of 2005, Morris didn't know for certain that Tomlin would be leaving the organization. So when Kansas State expressed interest in naming Morris defensive coordinator, Tomlin's key assistant finished out the season in Tampa and decided to leave for Manhattan, Kan. Tomlin would soon be named defensive coordinator of the Vikings, but Morris kept his word and joined the Wildcat staff. Defensive line coach Rod Marinelli also moved on and Tampa Bay's defense promptly plunged from first to 17th. "I really had no intentions of being back to Tampa this fast," said Morris, who began receiving feelers from Kiffin after his first season with the Wildcats. "It was tough leaving K-State but I have to be honest - I love the NFL. I don't think I'd ever turn down an opportunity to work with Coach Kiffin." When Morris returned to the Bucs in 2007, this time as defensive backs coach, he was greeted by a new facility and the news that another former partner on the staff, linebackers coach Joe Barry, had been hired by Marinelli as Detroit's defensive coordinator. "I get excited for all these guys when they get opportunities," said Kiffin, who signed a multiyear deal in January to remain with the Bucs for a 13th season. "I've been around a lot of young coaches and you can tell the ones that won't be around for long, like Raheem." Forget the light weight "name" coaches like Jason Garrett or the monster truck sized ego like Brian Billick. Read up on Raheem Morris and spread the word. He's a perfect fit for the job as head coach of the Buffalo Bills.
  19. Yes it is a crap shoot, but it's better than hiring a previously fired head coach who happens to have a wining record but who's teams did absolutely nothing in the playoffs. I think the trick is to hire a first time head coach that isn't in love with themselves like Malarkey and Williams were. Those guys were premadonnas through and through. They weren't leaders, they were pretenders. The Bills need a to hire a guy like Raheem Morris. A tough football coach who comes from a tough place in Livingston, NJ. I love everything I've read about this guy and hope and pray he's our next head coach. The Bills would have had a good chance at the DC from the Giants if they fired Jauron last year, but that didn't happen and there's going to be a bidding war for him after this season. For Buffalo, you have to go after the guys BEFORE they become bigger names on that head coaching list.
  20. How have the head coaching clowns in Miami, Atlanta and Baltimore been doing? None of these guys were on the head coaching radar screen and they have all done a spectacular job. Miami - from a 1-15 record to 7-5 soon to be 8-5. Atlanta - from the depths of Michael Vick and a team that was thought to be the worst team this year to leading it's division with 4 games to go. With a rookie QB no less. Baltimore - from a 5-11 team to an 8-4 record with 4 games to go. With a rookie QB no less. Pittsburgh - Mike Tomlin was off the radar screen when he was hired a couple of years ago. Steelers haven't missed a beat. There is only one "proven" coach out there and Cowher isn't going to come here because he can't get what his value is. The list of "proven" coaches here does not strike me as proven. Just that they've coached before and never were able to win the big one for the teams that eventually dumped them. The Bills should hire Raheem Morris who is widely considered the next Mike Tomlin. Morris isn't a premadonna like Williams and Malarkey were, he's a hard nosed coach who players will run through a wall for. Just like the successful recent first time head coaches listed above.
  21. This team is going to need an attitude adjustment. You don't get that by promoting your special teams coach. You get that by hiring the next Mike Tomlin... http://www.buccaneers.com/team/staffdetail.aspx?coachid=86 He could then hire Rod Marinelli for DC and Jim Kelly for OC. There's your much needed attitude adjustment for our team.
  22. It's simple psychology. Young players don't understand why you wouldn't want the ball. They want to score. They want to win. They don't want to wait until the second half. It was a dumb decision. Bad luck? Hardly. Dick Jauron gave the 49ers the opportunity to do what they did to our defense. The 49ers were all warmed up and ready to go and Dick gave them the ball. They did go down and score 7 points on our defense with ease. The game was forever changed after that, the mental damage was done, the 49ers had a very good shot at beating the Bills and everyone in that stadium and watching on TV knew it. The decision was one that comes from a man who is measured and not one who is fearless. This is his fatal flaw as a head coach and why he will never have a winning record as a head coach. You show me a head coaching great in this league and I'll show you a head coach that knows what makes his players tick and that psychology is 50 percent of success in this league.
  23. I couldn't disagree any more with you. Tell me that the 49ers scoring a touchdown on that first drive out of the gate didn't cast a huge shadow of doubt over the entire Bills nation. A HUGE part of football is the psychological part. Why, when given the chance to decide, give your opponent the opportunity to score first and put your team 7 points in the hole? The answer is you don't, especially when your team is all warmed up and are coming off a 47 point blowout win on the road. I can't believe you don't see the huge error in judgment our moron of a coach made in deferring. I guess we can agree to have a big disagreement on this one.
  24. Yes it's a new rule. I'm a fan of scoring first and scoring often. I think it was a stupid move by a stupid coach who can't get anything right and is burned more often than Charlie Brown. He coaches like a loser and his career record says all you need to know about his decision making ability.
  25. The "hot air" is coming from fans like yourself who still think this guy is keeping his job. Jauron's team IS going to end up 6-10 and he IS going to be fired. Mark my words, gird your loins, Ralph is going to be one pissed off NFL owner at season's end. Wilson has a temper and his fuse will be more than lit to kick Jauron's fanny out the door.
