The "Official" Bills Gameday thread!!
1billsfan replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Didn't the Bills season go into the tank when you started taking over the "official" gameday threads? Maybe I'm mistaken but I didn't think it was you who started these at the beginning of the season. Can't you let that other guy start them? -
..has a fantastic game today? I'm talking about a 4 touchdown blowout win against the Dolphins. Given the current fragility of Edwards' body and mind, add a head coach who's admittedly coaching to save his job, this board will indeed go into full meltdown mode.

Losman needs to play well for his future
1billsfan replied to Casmolopitis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You have poor reading comprehension skills. That was not an excuse, it was a "what if" regarding Losman beating those last three teams in the cold and nasty weather. If Losman loses just one game, Edwards is back. Losman has had plenty of chances here and I wish him well where ever the dude ends up. BTW, for the record I happen think the Bills lose their final four games. -
The truth will set you free. You can't fix something that you refuse to believe needs fixing now can you.

Losman needs to play well for his future
1billsfan replied to Casmolopitis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Edwards is a damn fairy compared with Losman right about now. So are we all a bunch of "fanboys" regardless of which QB you support? Give it a rest. Not matter how remote the possibility (and it's VERY remote), if JP Losman were to beat all three of our divisional rivals and the Broncos and do it in an impressive fashion, in a four game span, in the cold and nasty weather (the last three games) then the Bills fans who still hate on this guy and wish him gone will be the one's that need to explain themselves. -
Losman needs to play well for his future
1billsfan replied to Casmolopitis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know it's a crazy thought, but I just can't help thinking about what would happen if Losman actually did catch fire and beat the Dolphins, Jets, Broncos and Patriots. Holy whacked out situation Batman! In football there's always that one possibility and if it every did happen that way I would have no problem forgiving Losman's slow development, trade Trent for a draft pick and give JP a handsome raise and a three year deal. I'd even keep Dick freaking Jauron if they were to pull off that impressive feat. -
Thanks! If you make a Bills fan laugh, an angel gets wings.

8-4, my bad. Look, posting is tough. There are a lot of very good posters here. I just need to try harder. My mistake wasn't good, but hey it wasn't that bad either. It was close, I just need to get better next time.

I like everything about the Buffalo Bills but the head coach because I ultimately hold him accountable for their lack of heart, passion and fight. This team should be 8-3 right now and fighting for the division and playoffs.

Would you like to see Turner Gill coach the Bills?
1billsfan replied to Alden Bulldog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely! This guy is a real live authentic football coach. He appears to be someone who knows what makes players tick. THAT'S the key to being a good head coach. He also has a lot of heart and passion for the game. This is what's been lacking in Buffalo for a very long time. Jauron strikes me as a very fearful guy that makes football waaaaaay too complicated for my tastes. I'd be all for them bringing in a fearless guy like Gill to be the head coach of the Buffalo Bills. Bring the passion back baby! -
Berman needs to stuff a cork in it. The Bills haven't circled any wagons since the MCM. It sounds silly, empty and is insulting to those great Bills teams that actually had heart and refused to give up like nobodies business.

Is the decision to fire Jauron out of Wilson's hands?
1billsfan replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know that the fans have been wrong on these matters (see Coughlin), but it's rare when they are because the list of coaches that take a long time to develop into winners is a very very short one. Dick would be going into his ninth year as a head coach with only one winning season under his belt. Yikes! Is this guy on the ten year development plan or what? -
Of course. The Bills need to hire a guy who is an authentic football coach, has a clear vision, is extremely competitive, is fearless, knows what makes players tick and how to get their best on gameday. No premadonnas like Williams and Malarkey and no cronyism like the Jauron hire. They should do their homework and get a lot of referrals and expert opinions regarding whether he does have these qualities or not.

Anyone catch this about today about Jauron?
1billsfan replied to drhockey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You do know how bad the Miami and Atlanta organizations were after the 2007 season? They were as low as it ever gets and both were considered huge rebuilding projects that would take years to get back into contention. Well it turns out that football isn't rocket science like Dick Jauron makes it out to be. Those teams made it look easy. So don't let yourself be paralyzed by fear of a coaching change. Three years is a long time to prove you either have what it takes or you don't. Look at how much hatred is shown towards Losman and yet Jauron has a much longer record of losing in this league and yet you still are having consternation regarding whether he needs to be shown the door. When the Bills do hire that great coach you will be laughing at your hesitation towards getting rid of Dick Jauron. -
I don't think Spagnuolo would come here and I've said that plenty of times this week. Reason being is that he's at the top of the head coaching list and clearly out of the Bills budget price range. That's why I've been promoting Raheem Morris, a guy on the rise who would be available this year but probably not in 2010 for the same reason Spagnuolo won't come here for 2009, he'll be out of their price range. Ralph Wilson is embarrassed at the coaching ineptitude like us Bills fans. Three years is a long time in the modern NFL world. If you can't get it done or even show progress in a three year span, then that's a clear indication that sticking with the current regime is the crapshoot. The better bet is to blow it up and try again. You don't have to have someone lined up. Once you make the decision that Jauron will never get this team where it needs to go then you fire him, make a list of potential fits and move on with the hiring process.

Beat writers are the last guys to jump ship because they want to have access to the team and do not want to alienate the organization in fear of losing that access. Guys like Mark need to hedge their bets so to speak. That's how I read into those comments. -
This time last year I was the one being ripped by the masses for saying Jauron sucked, needed to be fired, and for the Bills to hire Steve Spaguolo. Where was your support for me against the "morons" and "typical flock mentality"?! Oh that's right, you STILL think that Dick Jauron is salvageable as a head coach.
-
When you think about it, Bill Parcells not only outcoached Marv Levy in the Superbowl, he beat him at the GM game too! Levy hired a head coach who was a losing coach in 4 out of 5 seasons in Chicago. Why? The only reason it seems that Jauron was his guy was because he knew him well from Chicago (where Levy lived and worked), they both went to Yale and he was well respected for his character and sportsmanship. That's it. Bill Parcells hires a rookie head coach who he knew, from him being a positional coach in Dallas, had the right demeanor to get results. His rookie head coach took a 1-15 Miami team with a Parcells revamped roster and has them better than the Bills. Parcells outdid Levy in one stinking year. This isn't a coincidence. The Bills just have not had a smart man in charge since Bill Polian. Polian was our Bill Parcells. He was the guy that made this team as successful as it was way back when. So with that said let's get back to the matter at hand, the Bills WILL have a 20-28 total record with Jauron by season's end (just my opinion). This thing will have to be blown up yet again. This team will have to either hope that Brandon is a genius or get lucky with the next hire. If it were me I'd be looking for a guy that has that born leader quality. I've been touting Raheem Morris because he's had glowing reviews from Monte Kiffin and Rhonde Barber. He's said to be on the same track as Mike Tomlin. He's said to have a dynamic coaching style. I think this team needs to make a major change and let this young buck come in and shake things up like nobodies business. This team needs excitement, unpredictability and also a guy that the players will snap to when he speaks. He's not the only guy, just one that I could see being a big game changer. I'm not afraid of the rookie coach syndrome that some of you are. Miami and Atlanta have given me great hope that the Bills head coach is out there waiting to be chosen. I don't think that Spagnuolo will choose Buffalo since he's at the top of the coaching hire list which means we have no shot.

The New Coach of the Bills is...
1billsfan replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Excuse me? What you're saying is wrong. It clearly flies in the face of the recent successes of what Atlanta, Miami, Baltimore and Pittsburgh two years ago have done in regards to hiring a head coach. Three of those teams hired guys who weren't even experienced as coordinators. What they did was hire guys who were excellent football coaches that were smart, demanding and strong minded. You guys can keep talking about Williams and Malarkey till your blue in the face but the problem with those picks is that neither had substance, nor depth. Williams apparently got the job because he came with a bunch of lists and Malarkey had ties to Donahoe, who thought that it would be a good fit because he knew the guy. I don't think either one of them got the job because they were thought of as great football coaches. Raheem Morris is a guy that should get attention by whoever is hiring the next coach because it's been said he has the qualities of Mike Tomlin. Someone who is simply a very good coach with the qualities to be a head coach. He's very young, Monte Kiffin has raved about him, Rhonde Barber has raved about him, he's said to bring a very dynamic and passionate approach to his coaching style. You're nuts if you discount a guy like him in favor of yet another retread who has never one anything. The Bills should go the way of the league and hire a guy who may be young but has the same tools as all of those other rookie coaches (and Tomlin) that have been kicking ass in the league this year, two of them have done it with rookie QBs no less. If he isn't hired this year as a head coach he will become the Steve Spagnuolo a year from now. Another coach that the Bills have no shot at because there is no way they'll get into a bidding war for the coach on the top of every team's wish list. The time for the Bills to hire Spagnuolo was last year, they will no doubt get outbid by another team for his services this year. You just wait and see. -
So following your line of thinking we should have kept Greg Williams as our head coach. I'm sorry, but if 7 losing seasons in 8 years as a head coach is unconvincing, you need serious help. Williams, Malarkey and Jauron were ALL dumb hires and our first gut reactions towards hearing those names were no doubt the correct ones. Not one time did we fans hear those names announced and think, "Hey, I can't believe we got this guy!". It was more like, "Who? That was the best we could do?" It was only after hearing the team and local media hype that we all fell in line and gave way to our hopes that these hires were fate and that the Bills were on their way to greatness again. What the Bills need to do is once again fire another failure and hire a real live authentic football coach who has great football instincts, intelligence and leadership abilities. None of these last three coaches had those qualities. There's a coach out there who does and is the perfect fit, they just have to find him like the Dolphins, Falcons and Ravens with fantastic success.

The post season hopes were lost with last Sunday's loss. If we were still in the hunt it would be a big deal.

That quote by Whitner is damning. He changed the culture from a losing attitude? I'm sorry, I must have missed seeing the shots of the pissed off Bills players on the sidelines in the Browns and 49ers games. They looked like they couldn't give a sh_t, and that includes his head coach. No emotion, no passion, no nothing. That is the "culture" that this loser head coach has brought to the Buffalo Bills. The only emotion I saw in both games combined came from Jim Kelly. If only we had been smart and drafted Nagata instead of that vastly overrated strong safety who's only good at sticking his foot in his mouth.
-
You're right about them not being that bad of a team. However you are off your rocker thinking that Dick Jauron is a good coach. Injuries? Injuries were not the reason they lost at home to the Cleveland Browns and the San Francisco 49ers. It was a badly coached team which was the reason we lost to those two teams and are out of the playoff picture this early. This man has had only one winning season in eight tries as an NFL head coach. How in God's name can you still say that this man is a good coach? You have to actually have a winning record for that statement not to be considered a ridiculous one given this man's now extensive losing record.
-
Dick Jauron committed coaching malpractice of the highest degree on Sunday vs the 49ers. The Bills clearly should have jammed Marshawn down the 49ers throat. Head coach Dick Jauron DOES wear a coaching head set, correct? In which, he can hear the plays coming in and I assume he has the power of veto or even the ability to TELL his OC that he wants to run the ball with Marshawn down at the goal line. He IS the head coach, right? Couldn't everyone in Ralph Wilson Stadium do what Jauron did last Sunday? Just stand there and listen on the head set and not make ANY decisions all day long other than the one to defer? HE JUST STOOD THERE AND DID NOTHING BILLS FANS! Any of the fans here that still hold on to the Dick Jauron pipe dream should really take a look in the mirror and ask themselves why they still support someone who let Marshawn only carry the ball 16 times and only once in the fourth quarter when he was gaining 8 yards a carry on a cold and nasty day in a game where the hopes for any playoffs this year was on the line. I just can't fathom why there is still support for this head coach who refuses to make the tough on the fly decisions that mean the difference of winning the game or losing the game. The reason I'm posting this is because I'm still seeing fan support for this loser. For those fans, please feel free to defend this guy. I really want to hear the arguments for why the Bills should not fire him.
