  1. ... but that's not really saying much, and for the money they'll have to pay a top-10 pick who also happens to be a QB, they'd need to be sure he really was much more than just the best they have on the current roster.
  2. ... maybe they know something about the Bills moving to LA that we don't???
  3. One other game that sticks out in my memory was in November 1975, a MNF game against Cincinnati (in Cinci). I remember because it was my 21st birthday. OJ Simpson ran wild that night ... something close to 200 yards. Of course, Ken Anderson passed for about 400 yards against the Bills, and the Bengals won it going away. One play that sticks out in my mind was with OJ running into the secondary, with 3 or 4 Bengals chasing/closing in on him, and he makes a cut and slips and falls, but at the same moment, all the defenders slip and fall too, and OJ was able to get up untouched and run another 10-15 yards before finally being brought down. They used to show that play regularly on the "NFL Bloopers" shows.
  4. I think it's interesting that the story Tim posted just BEFORE this one about Buddy Nix was about the Dolphins wanting to get rid of Justin Smiley, a guard they signed at the stroke of midnight the first day of free agency just 2 years ago ..... Dolphins No Longer Want FA Justin Smiley .... maybe Buddy is on to something?
  5. Andre Reed supports giving Trent Edwards another shot at QB .... Linky thingy
  6. On a positive note (sort of), London Fletcher has been tagged to replace the Saints' Vilma at MLB for the Pro Bowl game. He's been deserving for a LONG time!
  7. Bang Cartoon on Jason Garrett (and TO!)
  8. PLAYOFFS??? PLAYOFFS??? Are you kidding me? PLAYOFFS?? Don't talk about PLAYOFFS! (Maybe we should talk about PRACTICE ..... )
  9. Lots of talk lately about what sort of "incentives" it would take to make teams go all out to win all games at the end of the season when their playoff positions have already been determined. One idea is to reward the teams with the best records some extra draft picks. Just speculating about how that would work. How many extra draft picks would have to be up for grabs to insure that all the teams participating in the playoffs would have a reason to go "all out" in all late season games? Would extra draft picks go to, say, the top 4 teams? The top 6? Or would it have to be something like "the best record(s) over the last 4 games of the season"? Or best points differential (PF-PA) over the last 4 games? Top team gets an extra pick at the end of the 1st round, 2nd team gets one at the end of the 2nd round, etc, and maybe extend that for the 1st 6 rounds? There would still have to be some sort of "tie breaker" rules. Teams like the Colts might still choose resting their players over trying to pick up an extra first day draft pick, but it's hard to imagine someone like Bill Polian not trying to get an extra 1st round pick if possible. I like the idea, but am not sure how to structure it to make sure ALL teams always would have at least a difficult decision to make on whether it would be worth it to play all their starters in all their games to the bitter end. What other sorts of incentives might be possible? GO BILLS!
  10. ... at least there's always the hope that a new coaching staff will be able to salvage something out of the Maybin pick by turning him into a LB . GO BILLS!
  11. From Tim Graham's most recent chat: ... so we know that "The Big Tuna" puts a lot of emphasis on S&C .... Tim Graham's Chat - scroll down to 4:01 pm GO BILLS!
  12. You all must just be too young to remember. From Wikipedia: GO BILLS!
  13. I think we need to start with the GM, and let him have control over picking his coach. Along those lines, I still think Floyd Reese would be a good choice. If Belicheat thinks enough of him to hire him as a "senior advisor", I think the Bills could do a lot worse than hire him for GM!
  14. Yes, Byrd's INT did come on a 4th down play ... but the ball was snapped from the 21, the pass was tipped by Scott, Byrd intercepted at the 5, and returned it to the 23. Still, I understand your point - it would have been smarter for him just to knock it down. Do have to give Byrd credit for sliding to the ground untouched when he got back to the 20 yard line - he could have made more yards, but by then he remembered the most important thing was not to risk a fumble, and went to ground on his own. The Hail Mary pass that Wilson intercepted in the end zone to end the game came on 2nd down.
  15. His problem is he's constantly trying to prove to everyone how much smarter he is than everyone else. He had the "perfect weapon" in Marshall Faulk in the Super Bowl against the Pats, but refused to take full advantage of that in order to show off his "Greatest Show on Turf" ... and it cost the Rams the Super Bowl. He under utilized Frank Gore in SF as well. I hope the Bills pass on him.
  16. The Bills need LB help, and it sounds like Adalius Thomas is permanently in Belicheat's doghouse. He'll probably be either traded or cut this offseason. Anyone think he has enough left in the tank to consider trying to pick him up? My concern is that BB really is a pretty good judge of talent, and if he thought Thomas could still play at a high level, would probably not let him go. If the Bills did pick him up, though, I'm pretty sure he'd be highly motivated for at least 2 games a year! ;-) GO BILLS!
  17. I even heard a couple of TV analysts call him "Fitzgerald" yesterday during various highlight shows. Dan Marino was one ... can't remember who the other one was.
  18. because ...."YOU PLAY .... TO WIN ..... THE GAME! HELLO?"
  19. .... agreed ... because no one can "out schizophrenic" the Bills!
  20. ... maybe we could get Floyd Reese and Jeff Fisher to reunite in Buffalo as a "combo package" ... hey, we can dream, can't we? ;-) GO BILLS!
  21. ... it would probably have to be a Tom Brady SKIRT!
  22. Of course, Reese was also "in charge" when the Titans drafted Adam "Pacman" Jones, and also pulled the trigger on the trade with the Bills for Travis Henry ... and we know how those decisions turned out. Hopefully, he's learned his lesson, and now knows that character DOES matter as much as talent.
