  1. Don't think so ... this article describes the woman who confronted McNair as a "blonde woman", and in the photos of his girlfriend that have been posted on the 'net, she is a brunette.
  2. I'm guessing that the Bills won't use the "no huddle" formation much against the Patsies*, no matter how much they show it in the preseason - partly because the Bellicheat* has all summer to prepare for it, but also because NE is one of the teams you do NOT want to get into a "shoot out" with, with Brady back, and all the weapons he has at his disposal. I think it will be a healthy dose of Fred Jackson, and just enough slant passes to TO and Reed to keep them honest, keep the game close, and be in a position to win it with a 4th quarter FG. I think I've been channeling DJ! ;-( GO BILLS!
  3. I prefer the idea of having them set the game clock to 5:00, and play until time expires. Coin toss determines who kicks off/receives for the 1st OT period. If it's still tied at the end of 5:00, you play another 5:00 period, but at that point, you start alternating who kicks off/receives (like the 3rd quarter). This is similar to the NBA, and look how exciting some of these playoff games have been this year that have gone into multiple overtimes! And it is still "football", with the same importance given to offense, defense, and special teams. GO BILLS!

  5. That was the argument made about London Fletcher's stats - he was also a "tackling machine", but seemed to always go for a piggy-back ride 6-8 yards after initial contact.
  6. Actually, I think you meant to say the " GW Bush take-off on the podium" - the reference was to Bush's speech on an aircraft carrier shortly after the initial invasion of Iraq, where he stated that the Iraq war was essentially over. He was standing under a big "Mission Accomplished" banner, like Berman was in this cartoon. GO BILLS!
  7. Ironic to see that in the first half of that game, Norwood missed a 45-yard field goal .... wide right .... a foreshadowing of the following week in the SB against the Gints? Still, this was a great game for the Bills. Thanks for the memories!
  8. ... but he won 11 games last year without Brady, so you really can't attribute ALL BB's success to his QB.
  9. I dunno ... I still have nightmares about Eddie Robinson being faked out of his shoes by Chad Pennington a few years ago. Signing and having to rely on "past their prime" players is rarely a good thing in this league. As good as Derrek was all those years, I think there is a reason he is still out there. Either he wants too much $$, or there aren't any teams who think he is better at this point in his career than some younger player they already have on their roster.
  10. Only saw him play a couple of times last year - he was a monster in the running game against Oakland, and had a decent game against the Colts (neutralized Freeny). Must be a reason he was cut by the Texans (even well before the draft). But I'm thinking he might be a better "insurance policy" at LT than someone like Levi Jones. Salaam has a better history staying healthy.
  11. Not much more than what was quoted above, but here you go: Wendell Bryant Wants Back In ... and there's also this more detailed report, including a statement that he did get a try out with the Bills a couple weeks ago .... Bryant Wants 2nd Chance GO BILLS!
  12. Those hoping that Tom Golisano is in the wings, waiting to take over the Bills after Ralph, might want to read this article ... he may not be much different than Ralph in some respects (like willingness to spend money to build a competitive team): Robert Criticizes Sabres
  13. All he had to do was get it properly licensed. He made the decision that law "didn't apply to him", and now he, and the team, and the league, have to suffer the consequences of that decision. The suspension is to try and teach him, and other players who are watching, that they have to comply with the gun laws that are on the books.
  14. I understand what you are saying, but my point is it all comes down to a pattern of, at best, "stupid decisions" (or "mistakes") that put the player, and by association the team and the league, in an embarrassing position. That in and of itself is enough for the Commissioner to come down on the player as hard as he thinks is necessary to make sure nothing like this happens for a THIRD time. In the end, that's probably a 1 or 2 game suspension and fine at this point, but not because of anything ML may or may not have actually done, but just because he is showing a continuing pattern of "stupidity" that is reflecting badly on the league.
  15. Average career length for NFL running backs has more to do with the number of hits they take than chronologic age ... I doubt ML will last 8 or 9 years, at least based on his current running style (running over as many people as possible, and never "giving up"). It's why he's so good, and why we all like having him in the backfield - but also what will ultimately shorten his career in the NFL. I'll be surprised if he can keep that up for more than 4 years himself. I'm not saying Jackson will last longer ... only that at this point, they are probably "even" as far as career expectancy as a starter.
  16. You are probably right, in that this will ultimately get reduced to 2 games .... or 1 game plus 1 more game check as a fine ... but I disagree that Goodell should base his decision on the "legal outcome" of the infractions. His sole criteria should be the affect it has on "public opinion" about the NFL, its teams, and its players. What Lynch did may not have had horrific legal implications, but it still is, at best, another embarrassing black-eye for the league, and the Commissioner has the responsibility to do anything/everything he can to show that the league won't tolerate such behavior, and to provide a deterrent against future incidents, both from ML, and from other players. So no matter what he really "knows" about what happened, or what ML did or did not do, his only concern is to do what he can to protect the image/integrity of the league, its teams, and its players. And considering the current state, that's definitely going to be an uphill battle which may require him to come down harder on players for stuff like this ... especially repeat offenders who keep putting themselves and the league into "embarrassing" situations like ML has done.
  17. I'm a Bills fan, and I hope ML is sincere about "changing his ways", but I have no problem with the suspension, whether it ultimately gets reduced or not. The attitude that some of these young players are developing about being "above the law", and entitled to do anything they want because they are NFL players is getting out of hand, and that has to be stopped. We all laughed about Ko Simpson yelling "Do you know who I am? I'm worth MILLIONS" as the cops were dragging his butt to jail, but that underlying attitude is real, and apparently has become more the norm than the exception with the current generation of players. I'll support any effort Goodell undertakes towards that end, whether it adversely affects the Bills in the short term or not. 3 games is not that much, considering that he let ML off with nothing but a slap on the wrist the last time, and that did no good. Goodell probably felt "betrayed" by ML's latest actions after he let him off last time, and that no doubt played some role in his decision this time.
  18. Yeah, he was a "2-time loser" .... First, there was this .... .... and then 9 months after his plea deal, he followed that up with this .... Maybe he's finally grown up? Hope so for his sake ....
