  1. JW - I like you, but I think you're taking the defense of this guy a little too far. By any objective measure (controlling leaks, making sure there is a coherent message coming out of the FO, making sure people who need to be at the podium are at the podium, managing responses to negative stories) SB has been fairly awful at his job for quite some time. When your defense of his job means you have to flip back 20+ years for most of your player singing and cherry pick a couple of more "recent" signings you know you're reaching. SB is not solely responsible for the acquisition or failure to bring in talent, but he is responsible for the perception of this team as clueless and dysfunctional. Citing Mario, who was overpaid and made the highest paid D player in the game is an overreach of epic proportions, you're just trolling now.
  2. Your second statement has been refuted by multiple player comments throughout the years. The players who sign here often state that they didn't know a lot about the team other than the bad weather and reports that things were crazy and when they got here they found things to be different. If you're moving your family to a place, yes you are going to go mainly based on salary and a starting job, but they also need to look to the FO and how things are run. Scott had that job for 30 years and he did it poorly.
  3. No, the Pats are the best because they have Tom Brady and a HC who adapts his scheme to fit his players. Since they've established a winning culture and have a strong locker room they get to sign proven vets for pennies on the dollar because players want to win championships.
  4. PR doesn't affect the on the field product? It does if the organization is constantly being referred to as being a tire fire of dysfunction. Perception of an organization can discourage FAs from coming to visit or sign here based upon the presumption that the rumors and PFT articles they read are true. Managing and refuting this was Berchtold's job and he did a garbage job of it.
  5. I need nothing more than to hear the story of Berchtold's "consigliere-style" abduction of Tim Graham and bringing him in to some tiny break room for a "come to Jesus" meeting with Marrone, to know Berchtold had no business working PR in a professional capacity no matter how loyal or nice he is.
  6. +1 he plays at a higher level than most and he is the single biggest locker room leader we have.
  7. And who are these real players? For all the garbage I give you about your Skelton infatuation, at least Skelton was taking a shot at finding "the real player one wants". If you're not bringing in someone who you know is going to be "the guy", then play your young players, give them a chance to develop and keep drafting QBs until you FIND "the guy"
  8. Not a problem. Ryan L, there are shoes that can help your boy. You're welcome
  9. Some people think real life is just like Madden. Coaches don't matter if you just select the Y play every time, player progression is clearly defined "Tyrod is obviously better he went up 3 points in awareness", so all you need to do is replace the 50s we have at S with cheap free agent 80s and viola, we're a playoff team.
  10. Removing people who have proven to be terrible at their jobs and keep sticking around for years is always a positive change.
  11. THANK YOU for spelling it out.
  12. THIS. Stats are worthless unless you also consider the in-game situation. Tyrod doesn't throw INTs but he also doesn't move the ball when we need him to. When the team's back has been against the wall he has consistently failed to move them down the field for a score. It doesn't matter if you throw for 50 TDs in the first half if you're down by 4 and have one drive to score and you go 3 and out.
  13. I'm talking about TT
  14. ??? It's like you didn't even read the post
  15. Except keeping him at Qb means you cannot sign players at other positions which are sorely needed. If they were to restructure him, then keep him. If not, let Cardale start.
  16. Things aren't static. The system is changing on both offense and defense and there will be a great deal of turnover on this roster. There is no one size fits all fix here.
  17. This isn't an argument about the semantics of what a bridge QB is, I'm saying it is a dumb idea to advocate bringing in some middling guy from the outside when we already have a middling QB with at least some upside. Alex Smith, Nick Foles, these guys are not taking us to the SB, I'm tired of the "let's get rid of TT for $ and start some other middling QB", if you don't want him, then bringin in the youth movement
  18. Ready enough to win us about the same amount of games we would have won with Tyrod taking into consideration what we've seen from both of them to this point - about 2 games. We probably go 5-11 or 6-10 instead of 7-9 or 8-8 but we haven't invested a huge cap hit on someone the FO doesn't seem to believe is "the guy". That said, if they think TT can grow into that, then pay him. I just don't like all the talk about bringing in a bunch of has-beens when we already know what kind of QBs they are. As a FO either you believe TT is the guy or you bounce him to save money and just get young guys in here.
  19. Want to see a mock that has no chance whatsoever of happening? CBS - NFL Mock 1: R1P10 DL JONATHAN ALLENALABAMA 2: R2P12 S BUDDA BAKER WASHINGTON 3: R3P11 WR ZAY JONES EAST CAROLINA
  20. Now you're just making up things you have no info on
  21. Yes I mean you're obviously right, that's why he kept his job...
  22. Yes, they are great sources that allow him to say things like "maybe, or possibly not", that's gripping journalism.
  23. When a team has a longstanding history of poor relationship with the media and poor communication, you err on the side of history, not your devil's advocate position that they probably tried and Pegula is a moron and Berchtold suddenly became competent.
