  1. I believe the lack of depth is a result of RW's "cash to the cap" philosophy. This teams roster seems paper thin to me,and they don't sign many quality backups. A veteran LB,WR and some different DE's would be nice and I'm not sure that's Jaurons fault. I think back to the super bowl years when depth was a strength and guys like Art Still and James Lofton were brought in after being cast off by other teams.
  2. You make a lot of good points. This team has glaring weaknesses at DE and C. Overall the roster lacks depth,so you can't overcome injuries the way a good team needs to. We shouldn't expect Jauron to make chicken soup out of chicken sh--.
  3. I've never seen a QB start as strong as TE did and then fall apart so drastically. Never. I agree JP should have been tried last night for a spark and I would seriously consider starting him for a game or two now. TE may be at a point where watching from the sidelines for a bit may actually help.
  4. I've never seen a QB totally fall apart the way TE has. Overall this team is not bad,but right now, the QB play is killing them.
  5. I can't remember ever seeing a QB start the season so strong and then completely fall apart the way TE has. The concussion must be having some effect. I think he needs to sit for awhile. Losman has shown he's not the long term answer but I think it would do TE some good to just sit and watch for a couple of games. Give him a little time to regroup, have some good practices and regain his confidence. I think for TE's long term success, the best thing is to sit him for now.
  6. With the way Michigan has played this year I'd be lying if I said I thought they had a real shot at an upset. But this is college football and strange things happen. You are right, this game is a lot more fun when both teams are good. But no matter what I'll be rooting with all my heart for the Wolverines. Michigan 23 Ohio St. 19 GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I believe if we had a dominant pass rusher at DE we would have a outstanding D. That would make Schobel the "2nd" DE where he wouldn't have as much attention paid to him by opposing o-lines. He'd be great in that role.Or even if we had 2 or 3 guys the caliber of Schobel, where you could rotate them in and move them around. When Schobel is, by far, your best pass rushing end your in trouble. Schobel isn't as good as some think,Kelsay isn't as bad as some think, and the rest of our DE's probably don't make the roster of a good defensive team. I agree that C is a definite need on this team. I guess I'm just more of a defensive guy so that's where my opinion comes from.
  8. My thoughts exactly. The DE position is the most glaring weakness on the Bills,IMO.
  9. I wonder if the rug matches the curtains? If you know what I mean.
  10. I think we have pretty good talent except at TE,C and DE,but that's on first string only. We really lack depth everywhere. Once we get a few injuries it becomes a below average roster. That's where we're at now,so there's really not alot for the coaches to work with.
  11. The "girls" are all the Negative Nancys that cry,wet their panties, and start turning on their team and fellow fans whenever the going gets a little tough. There is legitimate critisizm to be aimed at some aspects of this team, but for the most part that's not what I'm reading in this thread.
  12. Well said. The whining and negativity on this board is unbelievable at times.
  13. I think when you have the physical limitations (height, arm strength) that DF had, teams were always looking to replace him regardless of on-field results. I really don't know the details of his situations on his other teams, but I believe that was definitely the case with the Bills. Honestly though,I am somewhat biased toward him on that point being a short guy myself.
  14. Flutie was the better QB when he was in Buffalo. RJ was aquired and given the starting job based on a few good games in Jacksonville and his measurables. That was a mistake. Flutie got screwed. Just my opinion.
  15. It's always interesting to me to see the strong reactions people have whenever Fluties name comes up. What exactly has he done that make some dislike him so much? I think he was a great college player who never was really given a fair shot in the NFL due to his size. I like listening to him on ESPN,he always has some good insights on the college game. He doesn't come across as an a-hole. I have a buddy who's a Titans fan and he loves to remind me to thank Wade for starting RJ in that playoff game. I do think the Bills were a better team with Flutie at QB.
  16. I think Kelsay would be adequate if he was lined up opposite a dominant pass rushing end. That's all I'm saying. Schobel is somewhat better than Kelsay, but I've never been a fan of his either. Actually I guess Schobel is more similar to Hansen, fine as a #2 DE,but not a guy anybody has to scheme around. Your DE's are a weak spot when Schobel is your best pass rusher.
  17. The Giants do it with quality depth on the D line. We have no talent at the DE position. Schobel and Kelsay would be back-ups at best on the Giants.
  18. The Bills have needed a quality pash rushing DE for several years. I've thought so and so have lots of other posters here. I just don't get why that need is never addressed. Schobel is decent, but way over-rated,Kelsay is OK as long as he's playing the Phil Hansen role and the rest of our DE's are garbage. The FO should be looking at every option to improve the DE position.
  19. Terrel Owens has been killing me the last few weeks.
  20. Yeah, that might be a nice fit.I could see him going to a program like that and staying a long time. It just seems like he fits the smaller, more academic enviroment better than the big football schools.
  21. The guy is a mystery to me also. He did a real good job at Stanford. That's a tough place to win because of the academic standards. He ran a clean program and took them to a Rose Bowl. I thought he got a raw deal at ND,but looking at his record since, maybe not. I know a kid that played for him at Washington and he had nothing but good things to say about him as a coach and a man. The only criticism I've ever heard of him is he takes himself really serious, maybe needs to loosen up just a bit. I'd like to see him get another shot somewhere, maybe a smaller program. He seems like the kind of coach that may do well at an academic 1-AA program.
  22. Thanks for the heads up. Except for Ok.St.-Texas,these games probably wouldn't have stood out to me before. Now I'll be looking for them.
  23. As much as I'd love to see the Wolverines upset Penn St.,I just don't see it happening. But it is a conference game and strange things happen sometimes (Ore.St. vs USC). It'on tv in my area,so I'll put on my lucky hat and be watching. As far as some of the other games, I see Texas,OSU,Oklahoma,Georgia and Alabama winning. But look,I've just picked all the favorites, and there's bound to be at least 1 upset here. So why not Michigan? GO BLUE!!!!
  24. True, and the Raiders also gave a big free agent contract to Gibril Wilson. Wilson is a physical SS who's strong in run support,no way Huff takes his job.
