  1. What's the difference? In both cases the individual cannot live without some intervention that without it, would lead to their death. It's not like you can put a plate of food in front of TS and expect her to eat. As I said in the other thread, removing the feeding tube is no different from turning off a ventilator or stopping dialysis.
  2. I still can't forget the horrible story I heard about the first tsunami where a girl (can't remember if she was Indian or not), lost 9 of her family members, and was rescued by a man after clinging for her life to a tree. However her rescuer raped her after getting her to safety. As if she hadn't been traumatized enough. Unbelievable.
  3. If I were there, HELL NO! I'm just saying that experts said that it takes the perfect combination of things to produce a tsunami like the one after X-mas. Hopefully those elements don't come together.
  4. Maybe, maybe not. For everyone's sake, hopefully the latter.
  5. Allegations of MS "abusing her" were propaganda put out by Terri's family to discredit him. They point to a bone scan done about a year after she put herself into cardiac arrest, where there were healing fractures all over her body. The problem is, they are ALL consistent with her falling from a standing position and crashing to the floor, and with subsequent resuscitative efforts. Furthermore, they can do an autopsy prior to cremation, and again what they'll find can be explained away as being related to her cardiac arrest, so it's not like cremation will "hide" anything. Frankly I don't know the reason he wants her cremated, but I assume it was her wishes, like not living like this was one of her wishes. Frankly again, I could care less what they do with her body, but as was mentioned, it will probably be a legal fight over that as well. And thankfully she didn't die over the Easter weekend. The ridiculous cannonizations of her as a martyr and parallels to JC would have been nauseating.
  6. Yes, protest and kill Michael Schiavo before he starts deciding health care matters for YOU!
  7. Another thing WRT Villarrial's numbers versus a guy like DeMulling is that CV was protecting lousy QB's for a good portion of his career, whereas DeMulling was protecting Manning. That's pretty significant. It also puts Anderson in a better light, as mentioned above.
  8. No we don't know for sure, but if she is, she's probably also been feeling 15 years of emotional pain for "living" in such a condition. Again this is a woman who was so self-conscious about her appearance that she had bulimia, and what I learned recently, was injecting herself inappropriately with insulin, which led to her cardiac arrest. However some objective evidence of her not feeling pain is that a CT scan has shown that her cerebral cortex has atrophied to nothing and has been replaced by CSF, and EEG readings taken of her cortex are silent. The cerebral cortex is where sensations of pain are processed as being unpleasant. So in all likelihood, she's unaware of her being starved. I've also heard no reports of her crying out or writhing in pain.
  9. Removing her feeding tube is no different than shutting-off a ventilator, except that it takes longer for the dying process. If you think of it in those terms, it's little different than what goes on all the time, except that it's not a media circus generated by people who can't accept reality. As for her suffering, Terri Schiavo "feels" nothing because she has no cortex to interpret sensations that her nerve endings transmit. All her reactions are reflexes which are processed entirely at the spinal cord or brainstem level. She'll die peacefully.
  10. Sacks are worse than penalties. They're not only lost yardage, they're a lost down and they also expose the QB to injury. Penalties are a replay of down and the QB rarely gets touched, and a false start being 5 yards is actually LESS than the average yardage lost on a sack. Again, seeing Shelton's sack numbers, it explains why the Bills aren't jumping on trading Henry straight-up for him. I guess the hope is that McNally can make him better, and if the deal goes down, I sure hope so. As for Anderson, he can't pull and that's probably the reason the Bills aren't jumping on him either.
  11. Sacks are worse than penalties. So going by sacks given-up, it's no surprise the Bills aren't high on Shelton at LT. And your stats should say .x mistakes per game. As for Teague at LT, considering that 11.25 of those sacks came less than 2 years after his ACL injury, he's probably better than what his stats show, but possibly still worse than Jennings.
  12. Since his 2002 fumble-fest, he lowered his fumbling rate the next 2 seasons, and didn't fumble last year in 94 carries. And as for his "below average hands," he caught 43 passes in 2002. I'd agree his blocking is a liability though, but I'm sure a great coach like Green thinks he can make him a better one.
  13. I posted Travis' numbers compared to Lamont Jordan's, and it wasn't even close. And Jordan got mad money whereas Travis has said he'll play-out his final year for $1.25M, as an audition of sorts, which is a MAJOR bargain consider what Jordan got, and what Alexander and James would demand.
  14. Hmmmm. Interesting, wouldn't you say?
  15. Too funny. Come on Tommy Boy, milk 'em for all they got!
  16. Again, this is NOT about what Michael Schiavo or Terri's parents want. I happen to believe that Terri Schiavo wouldn't have wanted to "live" this way, and that's the central issue here. She was self-conscious about her appearance, to the point that she had an eating disorder (bulimia) that ultimately led her to have a cardiac arrest and suffer anoxic brain injury as a result. Her husband claims that SHE said she wouldn't want to live in a PVS. No one else has said they heard her say she would want to be kept alive no matter what. Taking all this together, I seriously DOUBT that she would want to be in a PVS and with her face plastered all over the news like this. So her wishes in all likelihood would have been to withdraw support. The fact that her cortex is gone means Terri Schiavo the person is gone, and she won't understand what's going-on around her, or even that she's starving to death. Let her go with SOME dignity. And if MS is doing this for money, he's in for a rude awakening. Any money he allegedly inherits or makes from this story will be under such scrutiny that it won't be worth it. As for Terri's parents, I feel sorry for them. In the end they lose a child, but also lose sight of reality and what's best for her.
  17. The polls wishes are that it wants to be left alone.
  18. I'd say, notsuremaybe. But that's just me.
  19. You have NO clue what you're talking about. Bruschi has been his own agent up until recently (interesting why he decided to get one now, huh?) and has given the Pats a HUGE discout for a player of his caliber. Hopefully the Pats do the right thing by him, but I doubt it.
  20. Veddy, veddy interesting. So Green DOES want Henry afterall, and for a straight-up trade for Shelton. Interesting to see if TD gets that extra sumpin', sumpin' for Henry.
  21. To go along with the favorable officiating? Now THAT would be a shocker! Actually Angelo has been a butt buddy of Belichick's for years. If this goes through, he'll officially be considered on the payroll of the Pats. Idiot. I can't believe he's lasted this long there.
  22. Doubtful it happens for the last pick of the 1st round and a 6th or 7th rounder. I'll believe it when I see it. And if that DOES happen, I hope Bears fans string Jerry Angelo up because he's obviously been screwing his own team over to help out the Pats these past 3 years.
