RB Shaun Alexander to be dealt on draft day?
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Au contraire. I've heard Travis say he'd be willing to play-out the remainder of his contract. -
This article and picture are great

Damn then, you'd THINK he could stop getting sacked more than Bledsoe! -
RB Shaun Alexander to be dealt on draft day?
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Seattle Times doesn't know what they're talking about. Alexander and James have been on trading for weeks now, yet Denny Green only just last week said that the Cards are still very interested in Travis. Nothing has changed, unless Alexander and/or James have agreed to lower their salary demands to $3M a year, which I doubt. -

2nd try at Felos funnel
MadBuffaloDisease replied to OGTEleven's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Terri isn't feeling any pain. And if that's not true, then some pain WAS being felt, but is no longer because of the morphine. So essentially it's a painless death because of whatever reason. I'm not sure if I understand you. Are you saying Felos would completely reverse course and now say that "killing" Terri was wrong because it was painful? Or that Terri living in her PVS was "painful" and she should have been "killed" earlier? If the former, I doubt it, but if you have specific examples of that happening, I'd like to hear. If the latter, it won't be up to Felos to decide end-of-life issues. However with the looming health care crisis, those decisions will have to be addressed. -
Why? To feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Again ask yourself if YOU would want to "live" the was Terri is. Then ask yourself if you'd like to have people "err on the side of life" despite you exisiting in a (from my vantage point because that what I think it would be) living hell.
-
It most certainly is NOT. And I don't think you'd find more than a small group of people who think like that, except for in the one instance. The person of people who BY LAW are allowed to decide our fate, should be become incapacitated and not have it in writing, is our spouse and then our family. Government is and SHOULD BE kept out of this.

No, doctors KNOW that pain is processed in the cerebral cortex as an unpleasant sensation and thus suffering. Without such processing, painful stimuli is merely information that is relayed mechanically/chemically/electrically, kind of like a computer would "feel" it. And again, there have been no reports that she's in pain.

The swap of 2nd's is basically worth a 4th round pick, going by the draft pick value chart. Better to have the higher pick to either select a player or trade down.
-
Mort said he thinks the Travis for Shelton trade and swap of 2nd rounders with the Cards would go down on draft day. He also said that Losman would have been the 1st QB taken this year.

SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN surrenders
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Dr. K's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That was pretty funny. It was sarcasm, obviously. -
The more salient question is, "could you watch your child "live" this way?" I couldn't and I'd hope that, god forbid, something like that ever happened to one of my boys, I'd be able to see what is best for THEM and not my selfish needs.

The Yankee's want a new stadium, too?
MadBuffaloDisease replied to BILLS02138's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, if the redheaded stepchild of the NYC pro sports teams, i.e. the Jets (the Islanders don't count for squat!) can get one, why not THE premier pro sports franchise? -

I wasn't talking about you. I'm talking about people who have gotten media attention from this case. And if if you think the other 2 parties you mentioned do NOT have an agenda (in the family's case, the "agenda" is to keep their loved one "alive" no matter what), you're seriously fooling yourself. I don't know what you would want. Terri Schiavo OTOH cared about her appearance AND, according to her husband, said she didn't want to live like this. No one from her family has said that she wanted to live at any cost, just that they think that she SHOULD be kept alive. But since you brought it up, would YOU like to "live" the way she is? Uh, many medical doctors HAVE made those determinations, and a court upheld them. I was merely pointing out objective evidence to show that she's "practically a vegetable." There has been 15 years of time to review the facts. Her husband has been trying to get the feeding tube removed for 3 years. Time has run-out in trying to prolong what most doctors and the court agree is PVS and Terri's wishes. I feel sorry for the family because they are the only ones I know that truly love her, but they aren't being rational and looking out for Terri's best interests. -
OT: Best College QB Ever

Isn't "cooter" hick slang for, well, you know? -
Depends on your definition of "heart attack." In the classical sense, she didn't have a myocardial infarction. What she DID have was cardiac arrest as a result of low potassium. However why she/MS won money is beyond me! I'm sure the part about her injecting insulin inappropriately wasn't discovered at that time.

Is it time TD took Shelton for TH straight up?
MadBuffaloDisease replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The concept of "worth" is a relative thing. VA and BfNYC think Travis is worthless and that Shelton is a far better player. Yet Green is willing to trade Shelton for Henry straight-up. Most agree that Alexander and James are great RB's and better than Travis, yet no one wants to to trade for them for anything more than a day 2 pick, because of their pricetag. Then on the other hand, you have a team like the Raiders giving away a ridiculous contract to a RB whose CAREER stats don't even match Travis' best SEASON. So suffice it to say that Henry is at least worth Shelton, who I think the Bills could use and can take and make something out of, and I'd be willing to bet TD gets an extra pick somewhere in the draft for him. Maybe not a swap of 2nd rounders, but a day 2 pick. -

Everyone involved in this case has an agenda to push. I could care less what anyone says, even if in affadavit form, because of this. What I care about is Terri's wishes and I don't believe she wanted to live like this. I look at her history of bulimia, a dangerous practice which eventually ended up destroying her life, as an indicator that she was self-conscious about her appearance and wouldn't have wanted to be in this state. I also look at her CT scan which shows almost total atrophy of her cerebral cortex. And last I look at the court's decision (i.e. the law), having been culled from numerous reports, which is about the best I can get out of what people say, which again as I said is subject to agenda-pushing. So given all the above, I don't see this as any different that what Tom DeLay did to his father. -
Nah, never! No one would EVER do that. Like I said, MS is REALLY putting himself out on a limb and obviously has nothing to hide.

April movies: What do you want to see the most
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you meant to say "that should suck pretty hahd." Possibly even "wicked hahd." -
Like I said above, cremation doesn't prevent ME's from doing an autopsy. And no one can ask for an "immediate cremation" anyway. Just more propaganda. And interesting that MS wants an autopsy to show the extent of her brain damage. He's really putting himself out on a limb, and I can't believe that money is the motivating factor here, since he'll be the most hated man in America and his finances will be scrutinized for as long as he lives. Hopefully they will agree to bury her and any money gained from this be given to charity.

MadBuffaloDisease replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Fever Pitch," no doubt! That movie is going to ROCK! :vomit: I was wondering who the first dink to make a Red Sox movie was going to be. Congrats Jimmy Fallon, you just killed your already pathetic movie career. -
Like I said, maybe, maybe not. Thankfully the perfect conditions weren't there to create another devastating tsunami. But make no mistake, Mother Nature IS trying to cleanse the earth, in her own ways, and she's not exactly discriminating.

Delay's Hypocricy Sickens Me
MadBuffaloDisease replied to Big Cat's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Terri Schiavo is "presumably" medically dead as well and is "basically a vegetable," much like Tom DeLay's father was. She has been examined by countless physicians and had a CT scan that showed she has no cerebral cortex. I have taken biology courses and I understand that without a cerebral cortex, a person doesn't "feel" pain or experience consciousness. What you are seeing in her is purely brainstem function, i.e. breathing, eye opening, tracking, yawning, tearing, guttural noises, etc., as well as lower functions like withdrawing from pain, which is a reflex at the level of the spinal cord. The family would have you believe with their propagandized 4 minute video (taken from scores of hours of video) that she's reponding to people, but she's not. And there's little doubt that she WON'T recover, given she's shown no improvement in 15 years. Frankly I think it's more inhumane to keep someone in such a state than to let them "live" just because you think they might be conscious or because you think any "life," not matter how pathetic, is worth holding-onto. Well if she IS conscious, she's probably living in hell because virtually NO ONE would want to be like that, and I believe her husband when he said that she told him that. And last of all, there are ways to make her comfortable while she's dying, like morphine and sedatives. -
If EVER there were a bigger oxymoron...
